  1. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 03:58 PM) Because he's the son of Cuban immigrants?!? No one said "cuban national", it was just "what if he was cuban"? He is .
  2. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 12:26 PM) Oh no, almost 7 million! Isn't that close to the price of Keppinger & Downs for only 1 season? Who cares, Rodon is a cheap lottery ticket with pretty good odds. Signed him cheap. If Rodon was a Cuban what do you think the bidding would reach? He got a $6.75 mil signing bonus right? I think if he was cuban the bonus would reach...$6.75 million.
  3. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 01:02 PM) Jose Abreu leads baseball in, according to ESPN HR tracker, in "just enough" home runs with 13. Second place is 10. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 01:47 PM) Ha I can't believe they keep track of that. Naturally I never heard of it until a Sox player is leading the league in HR's. I don't know if its me or does that seem like east coast bias in the most subtle kind of way ? Kind of like Abreu is just lucky until some real HR hitter , naturally from an East team can emerge. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 02:12 PM) It's dumb though. Who cares that a HR just made it over the fence. I'm sure Hank Aaron had a ton of those. I know we all like 450 ft. HR's but keeping track of just barely made it HR's is just ridiculous. What possible purpose does it serve ? Actually it kind of makes sense, he absolutely has the knack of doing that "line drive down the line" HR, we've seen a bunch of those down both sides of the field this year.
  4. QUOTE (spiderman @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 12:23 PM) Thanks for correcting me. I had been under the impression now for awhile that he was a free agent after this season. I would hope that would add some value to his stock. He is under contract for 2015 and has an option for 2016. The 2016 option is pricey (>$10 million) but if he continues performing like this it would likely be picked up.
  5. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 07:09 PM) If true with Sanchez, sox baseball is about to get more exciting watching this kid hit. And then like everyone else we'll decide in 5 games that he's useless and doesn't belong in AAA let alone the big leagues.
  6. For once, no real need for an extra pitcher tomorrow.
  7. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 06:29 PM) what does that even mean. The preferable way would be to trade Boozer while signing someone else and then use the MLE on Mirotic. Instead they'll have to figure out how to distribute their available cap space amongst those 2 guys since they won't be able to use the MLE unless they're already over the cap.
  8. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 06:26 PM) Davidson playing SS, with Sanchez pulled out in case the Sox need him. Micah not available? Micah has also never played SS.
  9. Last time out I felt we had a bunch of guys at the top who were clearly there but we were weak in the range around 10. It seems like this time I'm going to have a ton of trouble figuring out that range around 5-15.
  10. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 03:12 PM) Why not dispute what I said instead of the personal attack? Because you can't. You KNOW that gay marriage supporters went full tilt after the Mozilla guy, for a political donation. personal destruction of your 'enemy'. Not enough to disagree with them, have to bring them down! Show me where Clinton and the whole Democratic machine didn't go all out to try and destroy all the so-called bimbos that accused Bill of misdeeds. You can't, because they did it. The worst you can do is claim that Republicans do it too, as if that somehow makes it OK. No, we just laughed at you because you did it in the very post where you complained about how bad it was. I was genuinely hoping you'd done it on purpose because that would have been epic until I read this one.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 03:09 PM) I'd take AJP in a fight over our pathetic relief corps anyday. AJ is one of my favorite Sox of all time by far. I dunno, AJ is getting up there in his 30's, I'm not sure how well he'd really hang in a fight these days. His given weight is 235 so there's some guys out there that match up pretty close to him too, Belisario is listed at 240, Putnam 220.
  12. QUOTE (Boogua @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 02:17 PM) Which is why mirotic, Gasol, and mcdermott were added. Not to mention we might add more pieces. People are overreacting. Melo would have obviously made the bulls better, but the world isn't ending. The world isn't ending and the Bulls aren't winning. Just as in previous years.
  13. QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 01:59 PM) This isn't on garpax. How much worse would this be if they gutted the team to offer him the max and he still said no? They'd have approximately the same chance of winning an NBA championship.
  14. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 01:18 PM) Need a backup PG somewhere....Gimme DJ I reckon. DJ, Niko, Wade/Ariza/Pierce/Carter, and I guess maybe Pau
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 11:42 AM) Knicks writers are giving off that vibe, chicago writers say Melo still in play(save Cowley) and national writers have no idea. Aldridge just tweeted this @daldridgetnt: Source says that Pau Gasol deal to the Bulls "should get done today." Don't know impact on CHI pursuit of Melo. Windhorst was following the knicks writers vibe this morning.
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 11:33 AM) Let's worry about all of this if/when something actually happens and pens actually start hitting paper. I'm still feeling good on Melo. He doesn't hem and haw for 10 days with a max offer on the table just to go back to the Knicks. Bulls just have to get creative here. I think we've finally gotten to the point where the Knicks will listen to S&T options, so that's good, I guess. This morning it sounds to me the opposite, the press seems to think the Knickerbockers confidence is growing and the Bulls are starting to move on.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 11:30 AM) T-Wolves: "We want Wiggins." Cavs: "No." They'll have that same conversation 500 times before they even begin negotiating. I'm not sure why the TWolves would give him to the Cavs for anything else on their roster other than Wiggins, which means that the only way it could happen is a 3-team complicated mess.
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 11:28 AM) I know that has gone around, but you have to wonder why the move hasn't been made yet. Because Cleveland doesn't want to part with wiggins.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 11:23 AM) Doubt that. He's still one of the more versatile/skilled big men in the game today. His incredible length should go a long way for him in a Thibs defensive system. He'll be a useful player but let's face it, McDermott, Mirotic, a guy like Gasol, and reupping with Hinrich is pretty much what I was expecting the whole offseason. Maybe we'll get lucky and be able to add some extra SF depth somewhere and that's at least a 2nd round team until Gasol and Rose get hurt.
  20. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 10:04 AM) I actually think that in some cases, AA is harder than AAA is. For Jared Mitchell especially. A lot of tough LHP are in AA rather than AAA. The rule of thumb most people will say is that you often see the best fastballs at AA where guys like Rodon will be targeted to start the year next year, but you often see better off speed stuff at AAA where you have guys who are career minor leaguers/substitutes who don't have big league fastballs but who have decent control and off speed stuff.
  21. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 10:28 AM) question, going over slot as the yanks did, what are the penalties for doing that. They are huge. To go over the limit one year you basically lose the ability to sign any pricey international FA's the next year.
  22. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 09:12 PM) Just think about how much money you'll save by not going to that game when Melo doesn't come here. I'll just blow it on Pirates tickets.
