  1. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Mar 15, 2013 -> 02:00 PM) Just hope Crean doesn't cut the nets down, Michigan/Wisconsin have to play in a half hour.
  2. Indiana's doing better at holding on to the ball but they've let up on the defensive side now.
  3. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Mar 15, 2013 -> 01:11 PM) Why are you all pretending not to understand each other? They are clearly pointing out that there's a big difference between being owed $27m and being owed $27m over several years. Marty is clearly trying to say that $7m per year doesn't seem like much, but that it adds up to a lot of resources over time. Because Marty is deliberately refusing to acknowledge that it's over 3 years to try to make it sound worse than it is. $27 million sounds like a big number, but over the next 3 years, the White Sox are likely to spend something like $350 million on salary. He's just repeating $27 million and expecting us to be shocked, and I'm seeing if he was honest enough to even acknowledge that it's spread over multiple years. I got my answer.
  4. Indiana needs to get the turnovers more under control, it's not hurting them yet today but it will if they keep it up.
  5. The Illini need to slow it down, for once the announcers are right.
  6. That was a hell of a block. I have no idea where the travel was though.
  7. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Mar 15, 2013 -> 12:29 PM) He's owed $27M. Remarkable. I can't believe KW made him the highest paid player in baseball and still kept his job.
  8. do the fans for each team get a certain section of the UC or is there just that much crimson in the crowd?
  9. 2 fouls on Paul and IL sitting on 5 points.
  10. QUOTE (farmteam @ Mar 15, 2013 -> 12:23 PM) I'm assuming it's on ESPN3. Gracias. I figured I'd have to find one of those rebroadcast illegal versions.
  11. Anybody know if there's a place online to watch or listen to this game?
  12. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Mar 15, 2013 -> 11:57 AM) Ramirez is owed $27M or roughly thereabout. Wow, he's owed $27 million over 1 year? We made him the highest paid player in baseball? You're right that is insane. That's almost impossible to believe. So impossible to believe that one might read it and think you're leaving out an important detail somewhere.
  13. “@scottmerkin: Talked to Tyler Flowers about he felt at the plate and his reply? "Quacktastic." His more serious reply was that he's feeling good.”
  14. QUOTE (Cali @ Mar 14, 2013 -> 08:31 PM) I wouldn't even count those innings he did pitch last year, since that wasn't really Danks and it was obviously pretty fast that something was up. I'm just saying its been a whole season since he was 100% and I hope he gets back to that in 2013, but I wouldn't be shocked if he's not "back to normal" until 2014. Thankful there is depth in Santiago... Yes, something was up, but he was also still working his arm.
  15. QUOTE (Cali @ Mar 14, 2013 -> 06:51 PM) Got a feeling Danks will be the weakest link of the rotation this season. Not a big surprise those, no matter how bad an injury is missing an entire season is tough for anyone to bounce back from right away. Maybe for the stretch run he will be pitching better. (And that will matter for the team) He pitched 80+ innings last year. He missed like 60% of the season, not an entire season. I'll expect him to wind up somewhere close to his averages until I'm given a reason to think otherwise. If he's not ready, then this team won't throw him out there to start the season, but he's been on a throwing routine since January that they call normal. It seems like he's right at the usual place when guys have bad outings in ST as they extend their arms and work on their control.
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 14, 2013 -> 05:47 PM) did he sign for a lot less than Turner was signed for? Turner had an $8 million cap hit this year, and it apparently saved them about $5.5. million to cut him. I don't know what Jackson's deal with them is.
  17. QUOTE (Reddy @ Mar 14, 2013 -> 05:18 PM) you're aware that over the last few decades there have been more republican than democratic presidents yes? Um, how far back are we going? 2008-2016 D 2000-2008 R 1992-2000 D 1980-1992 R 1976-1980 D 1968-1976 R 1960-1968 D Basically, the rule winds up being...if you stop counting at a year when an R won, they have more years, if yous top counting when a D won, it's even. Since 1960, it'll be 28 years for each party by the time 2016 comes around.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 14, 2013 -> 05:21 PM) Danks got crushed today by the Angels. In my opinion, I wish he could rehab a bit more in AAA and let Santiago start in the rotation. Yay spring training stats are awesome!
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 14, 2013 -> 04:04 PM) Blame it all on that AL group of shortstops in the late 90's....Nomar, Jeter, A-Rod and Tejada. At least 1/2 of which were juiced.
  20. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Mar 14, 2013 -> 03:35 PM) Because I am on a nerd streak on this site lately: for a pretty fast player to round the bases on a ball hit straight up in the air before it hits the ground, he'd have to hit it ~2000 feet in the air and the ball would have to leave his bat at about 675 mph (hug).
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 14, 2013 -> 03:32 PM) One more game wouldn't make it any less interesting. In fact, the first round could be played on the higher seed's homecourt. Could you imagine a round of 128, where on the first day there are like 7-8 games happening at a given time? It can get dicey catching the ends of the games when there are 3 or 4 going as-is, particularly if a game hits OT. I think you start losing the TV excitement then. Plus, they can broadcast 3 games simultaneously using cable, 7-8 becomes tough, and spreading out the first round over 4 days seems tedious.
  22. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 14, 2013 -> 02:43 PM) No that's Keppinger's to lose but he certainly is ranked among the favorites to make the team otherwise we lose him. I'd have no problems with them hitting themselves into a platoon. If Gillaspie is good enough to play on 1/2 of the games or more, then Keppinger and Sanchez both can be used to back up the other IF positions.
  23. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 14, 2013 -> 02:10 PM) So? Just my way of remembering that I spent that whole series thinking "Man, if Rose was healthy and Bosh was out we'd have this".
