  1. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Aug 18, 2012 -> 03:19 PM) Soledad O'Brien works for the Democrat party. Great example of why no one respects the "Liberal media!" complaints.
  2. Whatever "Today" counts as, they're firing the laser up today!
  3. QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 18, 2012 -> 02:56 PM) I don't think I've ever been as excited for a prospect as I am for Hawkins. Serious reply: Beckham?
  4. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Aug 18, 2012 -> 02:46 PM) They just have to pay the difference from his new contract right? Boozers still a good player, so he'll probably get a decent amount of that money from another team. Teams are only going to offer up a couple million to claim him, if at all. That's just how it goes. Either way, the Chairman will still be on the hook for $20 million+ for a player not on his roster. They won't like that.
  5. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Aug 18, 2012 -> 01:38 PM) Why not? Chances are Boozers gonna be amnestied next year so he'll have a starting gig here more than likely. Unless of course the plans to get Kevin Love (Hes made it known hes not happy in MN, and he wants to play with Rose) in a trade next year. Even then he'd be a good piece to move in such a deal, Taj, Deng and picks for Love wouldnt be a bad deal for both teams. Just a pipe dream of course but if we can pull that off and get Harden next year I'd probably s*** myself and film it for everyone to see. Zoom is there anyway Rose-Harden-Butler-Love-Noah would work money wise?? Boozer being amnestied still will mean that the Bulls will need to pay Boozer $30 million... but more importantly than that, Taj is going to be offered stupid money. Fair money for Asik, IMO, was close to the MLE, maybe slightly above it. Instead of $5-6 million, he got $8. That seems like a pretty common markup for guys in the NBA, 25% over what they actually are worth. I'd say that applies to Boozer too. Taj, IMO, is a $7-$8 million, 4 year player. Which means...someone's going to offer him >4/$40. If you throw in a poison pill structure like the Bulls had to deal with for Asik, the Bulls aren't going to offer him that kind of money now, and they're going to have the exact same decision next year...paying crazy money for Gibson and still paying Boozer while avoiding the tax, or letting Gibson walk.
  6. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Aug 18, 2012 -> 08:48 AM) Kurt Helin‏@basketballtalk Report: Bulls to start contract extension talks with Taj Gibson http://dlvr.it/1tCG8m ‪#PBT‬ ‪#NBA‬ woops, this is month-old news I have very little confidence in this getting done.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 17, 2012 -> 04:08 PM) I don't know that Tampa would take on any of that contract and I dont know If the Cubs will pay off the rest The Cubs would pay the large majority if they felt they were getting back something useful.
  8. QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 17, 2012 -> 02:26 PM) Be 100% Paulie! Assuming he's over the concussion symptoms, the week off probably did things like his wrist and legs a lot of good.
  9. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 17, 2012 -> 02:37 PM) No reason to play secret squirrel about it since January. There is if they were talking to other LB's in free agency. Or considering drafting one.
  10. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 17, 2012 -> 11:09 AM) I'm really out of the loop - why would Gordon go to the DL? He's been out of the starting lineup the last 2 days (although he played on Wednesday after Hudson took the ball off his foot). Supposedly was just Robin giving him a day off for looking tired, but you never know.
  11. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Aug 17, 2012 -> 11:05 AM) If both Veal and Septimo have to be exposed to waivers, I'd try to keep both. Neither would make it through and there's potential for quality there both this year and down the line. My guess is Olmedo goes because the Sox believe he'll pass waivers (or don't care if he's claimed) and then someone else hits the DL. Maybe Jones and Olmedo otherwise. Santiago coming up does seem to indicate the loss of another lefty or a starter, but I can't see them just letting go of Veal or Septimo for nothing and I don't think anyone else is hurt. Hmm. I don't think Veal has to be exposed to waivers to be sent down, but Septimo does.
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 17, 2012 -> 09:14 AM) When did Santiago last start? Would he be available to go 5-6 innings this weekend? He threw 6.1 innings on the 13th, so Saturday (the 18th) would be normal rest.
  13. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 17, 2012 -> 09:00 AM) Does he have an option left? No, he would also have to clear waivers, which he would be unlikely to do.
  14. Having actually seen Castro, I'd also like to add that I don't think the defense behind him has helped him much this season. He got eaten alive by hits that I thought could have been fielded in the game that I saw, slow rollers on the infield that either were beaten out or just missed.
  15. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Aug 17, 2012 -> 08:00 AM) So when you have a huge SuperPAC being run by former White House staffers, who are logged in as visiting the WHite House many times after they have left and whose ads so closely mimic the White House talking points and actions that they even share the same guy in an ad wearing the same clothes (the guy who claims Romney killed his wife), that's just coincidence, right? And not collusion, which is illegal? Come on, since you can read intent from what you see, tell us! Dude, seriously, I don't disagree at all with the unbolded...but man, do you really think that there's any level of "Collusion" between a campaign and a superPAC that could ever be prosecuted? The guy who runs Romney's SuperPAC was the treasurer of his 2008 campaign. The collusion rules for these things are the biggest joke in the world, and that's how Congress and the Court want it.
  16. Is there anyone on the 40 man roster who doesn't belong there? They can move Bruney to the 60 day DL pretty easily to clear 1 spot right?
  17. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 17, 2012 -> 06:04 AM) Interesting. I'd guess the reason is one of the following... 1. Hudson DL/DFA 2. Olmedo back down 3. Beckham DL 4. Veal back down 5. Septimo back down Then I figure Hector will be used to extend the rotation a day or spot start for Sale, Peavy or The Serpent. Remember, Septimo would have to clear waivers to go back to Charlotte, and Septimo would be very unlikely to clear waivers.
  18. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 09:06 PM) And the camera man just happen to be panning for people dying? Or did a foul ball get hit to him? Or near him? Gameday has completely stopped. Did they stop the game for this, or just coincidental? Game is delayed
  19. At least medical treatment is close, the faster you have treatment the more likely survival is
  20. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 08:18 PM) Left. It was out in 4 seconds. Was the pitch inside? He's been struggling to square that up lately.
