  1. Very impressed to see that this team came back last night.
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 09:34 AM) Other than the one homer in Toronto, Rios has been in a major slump for the past 8 games. Someone needs to start a "Rios having a rough mid-August" thread. He's still hitting the ball hard though.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 09:26 AM) Even with injuries and all, I am surprised that Drew made it through waivers. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/break...story?track=rss Do we know for sure that he made it through, and not that the A's put the first claim on him?
  4. Stay hot Wise...but not so hot that they become convinced you should lead off for this team next year.
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 02:44 AM) You Oz haters sound like Kansas fans who hate Roy Williams for leaving for North Carolina. All he did at Kansas was win, just as Oz won in Chicago. Don't.Get.It. Yeah, I think it's fair to say that the hired gun coaches throughout college sports make me pretty ill. Good comparison. Bobby Petrino probably works too.
  6. Deleted Avengers scene with Ruffalo after the Hulk comes crashing down.
  7. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 10:24 PM) seems suspicious to me Even if you do a poll well, if you do it 100 times, you'll get 1 poll that is crazily outside the 3 sigma margin of error.
  8. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 09:05 PM) Comedy gold. Better (nsfw)
  9. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 09:07 PM) Tell me more about the (non) justifications from the UN supporting the (non) invasion of Iraq that didn't turn out to be knowingly fabricated bulls***. Huh?
  10. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 05:37 PM) He should have withdrawn already. Word is he will by tomorrow, no doubt because I thought I read that tomorrow is the last day to replace a candidate and still be eligible to be on ballot. Horrible statement to make. Maybe we should throw him in general pop and ask him a week later his opinions about rape. Can we get Ron Paul the same reaction?
  11. Stone suggested De Aza might play today on air last night...looks like that didn't happen.
  12. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 09:14 AM) Republican Senate Nominee: Victims Of ‘Legitimate Rape’ Don’t Get Pregnant Things I just found out: Rep. Akin serves on the House Science committee.
  13. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 03:29 PM) So, while we have Gordon under control for 3 years, we should just dump him instead of seeing if he can fix his issues in the minors? The guy is the best fielding 2B in the league. If they can send him down to the minors, fix his problems, then he hits .270 with his defense, we'd all love him. That's not out of the realm of possibility. Gordon will be probalby a $2 million or so arbitration player next year. He'll be this team's penciled in starting 2b for 1 more year. Replacing Beckham is no where near as high of a priority as filling the 3b and C holes this offseason and perhaps finding a starting pitcher depending on Danks's status. Come 2014, when Gordon would be a more expensive, 2nd year arbitration player, then it may be time to cut him loose, but perhaps we'll be luckier and have Sanchez or another kid step up and be a reasonable option to fill in then.
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 02:00 PM) Well that is my point...you can't allow the paychecks and incentives clauses to determine what personnel you utilize and what offense you call. But if you don't do that...then you wind up with the Jets last year. Santonio Holmes, for example, wasn't all that happy with his stats and he made that clear on the field.
  15. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 11:13 AM) Saw the movie this weekend. f***ing fantastic. That is all I have to say. I've stayed out of this thread for what feels like a month. Glad I did. I was thoroughly entertained (and the air conditioning in the theatre when it was 93 outside, was just an added plus). You're complaining about the heat when it's 93?
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 01:49 PM) Sure. But me and you dont have to deal with egos and paychecks. The real problem is when those egos and paychecks start impacting your ability to score points. Thankfully, no one would have said that was a recent problem for the Jets, right?
  17. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 12:59 PM) Bills got nothing out of that experiment. Also really lost nothinig though.
  18. Armstrong's counter suit against USADA dismissed.
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 09:30 AM) Im not going to argue hypothetic scenarios with you, or HH. Its a waste of time All I was trying to say was, in response to Duke's statement that "this went higher than Paterno" is point out...there was no one higher than Paterno in the state of PA. If he wanted something to happen involving his football team, that would happen, for good or ill.
  20. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 09:22 AM) Suppose? Come on now, you are throwing out a possible scenario that will most likely never be proven. Suppose Paterno was the head of the monster and was orchestrating this ring? You dont know any of that, either way. What we do know, is that Paterno did not protect children that he knew were being abused. This is fact. And let's say that after Joe Paterno was informed of this in 1998 he decided he was going to make sure it stopped and that no more kids were harmed. Who's going to overpower Joe Paterno trying to do the right thing? If he decides he wants to protect the children, however high up it goes, who would be able to say no/tell him to shut up? If he wanted it investigated the local police would have charges filed in, what, a few weeks?
  21. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 19, 2012 -> 08:18 PM) This is why you're a sheep, sheep. Or more like an ostrich. Damn near every day the main stream dorkasses told us how many died because BUSH was our commander in chief. BO has "that same blood" (sic) on his hands, yet we never hear about it now... gee, I wonder why? Whatever. You see what you want to see and hear what you want to hear. Of course it's "a random fact" to you in your world. If you just want to go by raw casualties...the worst year in Afghanistan produced 1/2 the military deaths of a standard year in Iraq between 2004-2007. They are, however, regularly covering the fact that the U.S. soldiers are being killed quite regularly by uniformed Afghan army. That's becoming quite a mess. If you want a straight comparison of how much they were covered, here's from the PEW research group. (They separate out Bin Laden being killed as a different story from Afghanistan in 2011 as well). Probably also worth noting that "Economic news" became a much bigger story in 2007 as the housing market began collapsing. By 2008, the Iraq war was a smaller story than Afghanistan has been throughout the Obama administration, despite a similar level of violence in the 2 countries at those times.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 19, 2012 -> 10:10 AM) Apparently Cabrera's camp tried to "invent" a supplement to blame the positive test on. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball...ticle-1.1139623 This is truly impressive. I do like that he blew $10 grand on trying to set up an official looking website to fool MLB. I don't like that he may not suffer any additional punishment for it...that ought to be a violation of some rule.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 19, 2012 -> 04:51 PM) Any update on when ADA will return? Announcers suggested he and Youk could be in the lineup tomorrow.
