  1. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 06:05 PM) Re read what I said....I said not for Floyd... Axe/Doyle and TFlow/Phegley is what I said for Chase. Past Youk I cant see a trade that would get us a 3B for Floyd I don't think that's anywhere near what the Padres will be asking for Headley.
  2. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 05:55 PM) Honestly now that I look at it I'm not really sure who sans Youk works....For Floyd anyway. Headley would make sense but not for Floyd. Maybe one of Axe/Doyle and Tflow/Phegley might work for SD. A pipe dream would be Mike Olt from Texas but I can't see that happening without Tank being involved. No way San Diego is going to make a deal that inovlves them taking on like $10 million in salary over the next 2 years.
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 05:36 PM) Good questions...dunno...you know if Floyd was available, we would probably interested... If the Yankees made Phil Hughes available, we would probably be interested....not saying Hughes doesn't have more worth than Floyd...but I think they have similar types of issues. Hopefully the start he made Friday shows he still is capable of some nasty stuff...and that the other issues can be fixed... One big difference there is that Hughes is getting paid $3.2 million this year (and has 1 arbitration year left) while Floyd is getting $7 million this year with a $9.5 million team option, so it's harder for a team concerned about salary to risk taking him on. If you trade for him and he puts up an ERA of 7.5 down the stretch, you're not picking up that option and then he's gone for nothing, but if you do pick up that option, you risk getting this Floyd next year for $9.5 million, which doesn't sound too nice.
  4. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 05:10 PM) Axelrod and Doyle have been dominating in the AAA...why not trade Floyd for a 3B and go with Sale-Peavy-Danks-Q-Doyle/Axelrod??? Over their last 10 games Doyle has a 2.05 ERA and a sub 1 whip while Dylan has 2.71 ERA (which includes back to back games of giving up 5 & 7 runs) and a Whip barely above 1. Whats left for them to prove in AAA??? Serious questions: 1. Name a team and their 3b who would want floyd. Are you talking Youkilis? I'll admit, I'm starting to warm more to that idea, but still don't like it much. 2. How many more bad starts will it be before teams decide that Floyd is busting and might not be a good acquisition?
  5. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 05:15 PM) Then I read that Mitchell has no trade value. Well, let's see, he's a FRDC, he gets injured, finally recovers, and is having a positive season in AA. Yes has weaknesses, like all prospects....but no value. Funny, we give a closer for a stunted prospect. We give TCQ for a stunted prospect. We hope both prospects develop, but neither are top tier, yet we gave a legitimate major leaguer for each. But our prospects have no value, and should be dumped for mediocrities with 1.4 WHIPS. Right. I will also point out that Rios' deal ends after 2013, about the time Mitchell should be ready (if he ever is). WE need him. Edwin Jackson had a WHIP of 1.49 when we traded for him, and a major league ready starter (plus another starter) is what I'd call a hell of a lot more valuable than Mitchell at this place and time. If you hold Mitchell and he's tearing up AAA next year, then he's going to be a legit trade piece if that's how we want to use him. But let's be clear, he's basically our only trade piece with any legit value other than what is sitting at the major league level. And Rios's contract ends after the 2014 season, not 2013 (with a 2015 option/$1 M buyout).
  6. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 12:42 PM) Radiohead was good. Im not their biggest fan, but they did play both songs that I wanted to hear (Karma Police and Reckoner), they played a lot from In Rainbows which I was a fan of. Something new from their setlist:
  7. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 03:18 PM) Isnt Durant a really good defender? Why wouldnt he be on Lebron?? I haven't really noticed his D in real life but he sure does win Defensive POY in NBA2k12 a lot lol I think they'll have to rotate him on and off of Lebron to avoid having him get into too much foul trouble, just like I doubt you'll see Lebron constantly on Durant, but it'll probably happen down the stretch.
  8. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 03:06 PM) Not a bad deal at all, the only thing is that he won't make the majors for at least 3-4 years, according to what we have been hearing for a while. So really, it's paying him $30M over 5 or 6 years of major league production. For $5-6M a year. Still not bad at all, but that does add a little more pressure for him to live up to it. Basically he got the same money Chapman got, except for that whole "will start in low A ball" part.
  9. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 02:35 PM) He's leaving the ball up in the zone. That's not confidence; that's a mechanical issue. And it's particularly bad when he's pitching from the stretch.
  10. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 02:48 PM) I don't know, the Spurs destroyed the lineup with Perkins/Ibaka a lot of the time and Kendrick still played heavy minutes. I don't think their defense is very good with one less rebounder and rim-protector and it'd force DaQuan Cook to play more. I feel like Miami would love for OKC to go small, it'd be one less shot-blocker to discourage drives and would probably give Miami a rebounding advantage. Honestly, I think they'll have just about everything in the books available for this series, and we'll see some things work in some games and then not work in the next game. All I know about that Heat team is you can't let them score in transition. However you prevent that, that's the thing you have to stop.
  11. This weekend's $100 billion "Bailout stars in The Living Daylights" appears to have worked and reduced Spanish bond yields... for 4 hours and 40 minutes.
  12. Lots of people reporting, no dollars yet.
  13. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 02:19 PM) He most certainly has 10/5 rights. Garza has a full 1.5 years before he hits FA, so it's hard to see why the Cubs couldn't get more than what the Sox's minor leagues could offer in return for him.
  14. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 02:14 PM) north side has two pitchers and we could use either own garza or dempster. north side is in full rebuilding mode. Are they interested in any of our lower level prospects. Also could look into three team trades. Really no reason that we cannot trade with them. We don't compete directly with them. I could see Mitchell being a good fit for Dempster, if Dempster hadn't repeatedly and strongly suggested he wouldn't want to play on the South Side. And I'll bet he has 10/5 rights.
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 12:33 PM) We just need a decent SP at this point. I doubt KW goes after David Wright, who is the obvious answer on offense. I'm sure KW will inquire about him, and I'm sure the price will start at either Viciedo or Reed.
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 01:31 PM) I'm not so sure about that...with the way Rios/Dunn/Peavy are playing right now, we should be playing for now...building for the future was based on those three not performing...now they are...so the future is now. The biggest problem with looking to be major buyers at the deadline is that our 3 biggest pieces are Reed, Sale, and Viciedo, and teams aren't likely to give up a Greinke without asking for one of those, given our system. Unless the Brewers are in love with Mitchell and pull a Kenny Williams in giving up Greinke for a guy they love, we're going to have to be content with small scale upgrades.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 10:41 AM) Eh, leave it in here then. We'll just rock the tags. Go see movie now. Split anyway. 40 posts within 2 days, why not.
  18. I can split a Prometheus thread if you'd like but some of us who won't see this film for a while do appreciate the spoiler tags anyway.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 10:25 AM) Yes, but rarely does a ball go that far right down the line. Guys hit lazy fly balls to CF that would be halfway up the seats down the line. I had never seen a fair ball go into the club level. Wasn't saying it wasn't impressive. Apparently this dude has some serious power.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 10:16 AM) Hitting them into section 357 usually doesn't happen. They all count the same, but that one was impressive. In case people want the link, here's his Hittrackeronline page with that HR now listed. True distance listed at 443. Not actually his longest of the year even.
  21. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 08:07 AM) So proud to be a Commerce employee: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/06/11...test=latestnews This is one crazy set of descriptions.
  22. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 09:34 AM) Listening to Stone on with M&H- how did Zack Greinke's name get mixed up into all of this? He's a starter who has a chance of being available, and every starter with a chance at being available will be linked with the Sox until something happens.
  23. What the Hell? Someone actually wrote that?
  24. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 07:30 PM) The Denver Post article mentioned Headley specifically because the Padres have several prospects ready for the majors, apparently including a hot third base prospect at AAA. Maybe Headley wouldn't be so pricey. Here's an example of Bleacherreport pushing the "Padres shouldn't trade him" side.
