QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 02:19 PM) Andrew Luck is sicknasty as is RG3. Those are two uber talented dudes. Luck ran a 4.59. That's the same as Cam Newton last year.

QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 03:35 PM) Don't look now Rex, but IU has won 5 of 6. Should be one hell of an atmosphere Tuesday for MSU. The loss from that list was just sad. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 01:38 PM) To be frank, that wasn't a major concern but maybe I dont' know the whole story. He isn't the first person in college to get in a little trouble becuase of alcohol. Now if he is an alocholic, that would be an issue. And I don't know the answer to that and mabye that is what teams are concerned about. I don't know where I've read it, but I think the real worry is that because he has a record in college he's immediately going into the league's substance abuse program, where if he gets in trouble again he doesn't get a pass, he goes straight to suspension.

Indians closer Chris Perez sprains a muscle on his left side, they don't say it but I'm guessing an oblique? and he's out 4-6 weeks.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 01:33 PM) At the restaurant I work at now, we have a $30 steak - an 8 oz filet mignon with a port wine reduction. It's fantastic, but a tenderloin is not a low cost product and there isn't a lot of it. If we were to go with your pricing model, it would be a $35-40 steak, and through simple supply and demand, we'd sell it less and be able to afford fewer workers. But here's the problem. If I'm going to your restaurant and having that $30 steak...aren't I still expected and expecting to pay $37.50-$40 for it including the tip? I'm not going to a restaurant to order a $30 steak without expecting to tip the waiter/waitress, and I'm not going to go to a restaurant less if the steak is listed as $38 but I don't have to pay the tip. The price is exactly the same to me.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 01:22 PM) Eh, I disagree. From what I remember of The Bridge in the IF, he wasn't too comfortable. He is so good in the OF, that I would rather Escobar just be in backup IF, especially at SS. Well, the one other thing you can say is that the more positions he's the primary backup @, the more at bats he'd be in a position to get...and getting him at bats, after last year, does seem like a useful proposition.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 01:19 PM) Oh okay, so he will be our 2nd RD pick then. Isn't "taking a guy in the 2nd who fell out of the first" what people would really like the Sox to do?

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 11:48 AM) RG3 ran a 4.38 and I think Twitter just exploded. Have to figure right there he just made himself the #2 pick, right? And that the pick gets traded?

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 01:11 PM) When you watch Floyd play, you see a guy that is just a total beast. The problem is he's had some injury issues and people have questioned his toughness. Physically he's a total stud though, imo. He's a game changer and the type of guy the Bears would be lucky to get at 19. The issue I have is this time probably moves him up and I'd be surprised if he's available @ 19. That said, there are still other questions about him that could keep him there at 19. He is a very good route-runner with good hands and great body control. The alcohol suspension worry seems to be another major issue.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 12:51 PM) These articles are such sour grapes. Hearings are like sports, you either win or you lose. MLB lost, Braun is innocent. You can vehemently disagree that the Cardinals are the World Series Champs because you believe the Rangers were better, but the Cardinals are the Champs. No he isn't. Even in a court of law, people aren't found "innocent". They're found "Not guilty". Braun is not suspended, and that is the correct move. That does not by any stretch of the imagination mean he is innocent or clean.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 12:47 PM) Apple tends to keep their products on a usual refresh cycle. iPad is in spring. Macs over the summer. iPhone and opossums in the fall. See, this is why I asked the question in the first place...because the only iPhone released in the fall was the 4s. The original, 3G, and 4 were all released in June.

QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 12:33 PM) subarbanites LEAVE the city during the afternoon rush hour. sox park is IN the city. and most games are typically at night. Personally, I don't think of 35th as being "Downtown", I think of it as being on the way out, but that's my NW Indiana perspective.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 10:33 AM) I think this is a very good assessment. I know someone who worked closely with the team during spring training last year and they were shocked by Dunn's daily workout routine. Last guy in, first guy out and that was the best thing they said about his routine. Of course, if he did have a sick kid that wasn't disclosed publicly, that would be quite consistent behavior with that rumor as well.

QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 12:22 PM) The weekday parking at the cell/wrigley/uc is counter to typical rush hour traffic. i dont see rham-bo's logic for making the venues part of the tax aside from the fact that the sox have 7000 parking spaces, which means up to 14k a game in tax revenue. Really, wouldn't you say that a significant chunk of the cars coming in always come along the same path as the traffic rush, people leaving the city?...and perhaps even more important, the Sox pack the nearby surface streets with people and cars at that time, making them no longer useful routes for travel. Oh, and that also takes up a contingent of police and associated resources that could be used elsewhere too.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 25, 2012 -> 10:24 PM) Geology question for Balta: Is there is technical determination between hills, foothills and mountains? Was out in Chattanooga two weeks ago and central California coast area last week and had me wondering. Not really. Foothills sorta by definition sit at the transition between plains and high terrain, and generally hills are more rounded/shorter, but bah.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 10:12 AM) iPhone 5 wont be until September. So, it's down to 4S or iPad3. PS: Sweet gift! QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 10:18 AM) iPad 3. It will do everything an iPhone 5 can do except make calls, so as long as you already have a cell phone, no need for an iPhone 5 is you have an iPad3. How do you folks know that?

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 12:05 PM) That's not a comparable situation though. How about if the US goverment charged Apple an extra 10% tax on every Iphone4s they sold. Would you expect them to then raise the phone price 10% too? Because that is what happened here, the city of Chicago raised the tax 10% for the weekday games, and the Sox passed it on to the consumer so they don't have to lower their price. Frankly, no, you wouldn't necessarily expect them to raise the price of the phone, because that extra $40-50 increase in the price of the phone might reduce their sales by enough so as to make more people migrate over to other phones. Apple would probably absorb part of the hit out of their "profit margin" on each phone, probably make their suppliers absorb part of the hit, etc. In this case it can be passed on, because there really isn't available competition for parking/transit to these games, especially if you're coming from a direction where the trains really can't get you there without shifting multilple lines.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 02:51 AM) It's gotten comically bad throughout the years. Add the stupid rule change this year and the ridiculous props for a couple years goin now and it's a joke. I'd rather watch Vince Carter at age 35 (with half his athleticism left) own these fools. I just can't believe how slow the whole night is. Just can't endure that pace.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 11:22 AM) This post should be the end of the thread. Thank Rahm, not JR. Of course, one plausible response to an increase in the fees the city charges would be to rebalance the cost you charge the consumer and perhaps pass only a portion of that fee increase on.

If you walk outside right now on the East coast and look to the South, you'll see a gorgeous crescent Moon, with a bright light very close to it. That light is Venus. If you then look up and to the East just slightly, the next bright object you'll see is Jupiter. Great trio out there tonight.

Time to point this out. This has been a really bad, self-inflicted week for the US in Afghanistan.
