QUOTE (Wanne @ Feb 17, 2012 -> 07:53 PM) What exactly do these beers represent?...the majority of beers they sell? sponsors? official beers? Hat's off to the Padres...I love that beer! Funny beers associated with each team in the description.

2011-12 White Sox off season catch all thread

I've heard Don't Stop Believin' too much this week for it to not be spring training yet. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 17, 2012 -> 04:18 PM) If things were so bad, why didn't Ford's 2006 credit line get cancelled or capped? You're smart enough to know that the fact they had been approved for a government loan if necessary meant that the risk of them going to chapter 13 went away. They were able to get private financing to roll over that 2006 debt because the government approved the loan if necessary. This is of course in addition to the FDIC guarantee of the corporate debt market and various other debt guarantees that Ford has negotiated for worldwide since 2008. Edit: oh, and the fact that GM and Chrysler could get similar government guarantees and still couldn't raise enough private funds to cover their debt without going into bankruptcy ought to tell how bad their situations truly were. A number of other firms were able to survive because of similar types of guarantees (Citibank, BofA are the biggest). Edit2: Oh, and this also belies the silly notion stated previously that the heads of GM and Chrysler were thrilled to be bailed out by the government, because Ford had the offer and chose not to take it so as to avoid government interference.

Link. If Newt spends that money rapidly and focuses it all on Rmoney, then it could be a legit counterpoint to the ads Rmoney is running.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 17, 2012 -> 03:17 PM) The IGM Forum at UofC-Booth took a poll of economists on whether the ARRA resulted in lower unemployment at the end of 2010. 80% agree, 2% uncertain and 4% (two) disagree. Results on the second question, whether the benefits will outweigh the costs long-term, are more mixed but still show a majority agreeing and only 12% disagreeing. Great. So almost everyone can agree that spending $600 billion will create at least 2 jobs.

Rumor? - Cubs deny consider playing at the Cell for 2013
Balta1701 replied to chisoxfan09's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Cali @ Feb 17, 2012 -> 04:16 PM) Not that anyone besides delusional Cub fans should expect anything from the 2013 team, it would be interesting to see them play a different park with a more normal schedule as far as day games and night games, like would the 2008 Cubs playing at the Cell (or anywhere that's not Wrigley really) have gone to the Series? The fact that they were playing at Wrigley didn't cost them the series against the Dodgers. Manroid's ridiculous run and the fact that the Cubs righties got tied up by LA's righties did. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 13, 2012 -> 05:10 PM) It is a financial offset of incoming revenue. It is a new cost, in accounting terms. Also, as I said earlier, none of that matters anyway, because it makes no sense for the banks to do that. And people who want in on HAMP won't qualify if their loan is already crammed down, because they will no longer meet the HAMP requirements. Finally someone in legit media picked up on this and has people on the record. From the Financial Times: Here's a separate article, same byline.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 17, 2012 -> 01:33 PM) Is there anymore knuckleballers out there or was Wakefield the last? R.A. Dickey throws some version of one.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 17, 2012 -> 01:13 PM) I addressed this one already too. They got WAY better terms from the Feds than they would have anywhere else. "Asserted without evidence" is not "Addressed".

Do we really need a thread on this? I'm tempted to Diamond-club it. He's not the White Sox hitting coach. This is unrelated to the White Sox. I missed a chance last week to actually meet him and Heyward in person, they did an appearance here that I found out about later.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Feb 17, 2012 -> 08:57 AM) seriously? get over it. the world would be a better place if that guy didn't exist. simply true. We have a rule about not wishing for people to die based on their political beliefs and I think it's a good one.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 17, 2012 -> 08:48 AM) Stop using Lehman. It is a terrible example. I didn't in that post. I used it as a "Day". The phrase was "Between the fall of Lehman and the stimulus package". Because the Fall of Lehman led directly to the credit market freeze. Thus, it is an entirely logical starting point for the credit freeze.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Feb 16, 2012 -> 11:52 PM) can't wait till all those who hold office in his generation croak This post makes me very uncomfortable and unhappy and I wish it would disappear.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Feb 16, 2012 -> 11:54 PM) ^^^ delusional. did you know that being a staunch conservative is ACTUALLY NOT centrist? Being centrist is being centrist. Y'all Republicans get that confused. Wait, is someone calling NSS a "Staunch conservative"?

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 16, 2012 -> 10:41 PM) So did they win or lose. With all the whining going on I couldn't tell? Bulls are up by about 7 and are pretty close to ending it.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 16, 2012 -> 10:09 PM) That is such a different situation. That's where the POTUS was assassinated (one of 4, and only one in 100 yrs). That location has such historical insignificance. Not where some "celebrity" actor took too many happy pills. Visitng a site like that is just goofy IMO. You can get to a couple of the Lincoln-related places in D.C., I believe the place where he was taken and treated after the theater I visited in 7th grade.

We're on another topic in the Dem thread or I'd post this there. But this one is...wow. This actually happened. This guy is the top funder of Santorum's Super Pac. And...um...this involves the phrase "Aspirin" and "Between your legs".

Here's one I didn't even know. In November 2008, the FDIC launched a $340 billion guarantee program where, through banks that they deal with, they essentially guaranteed the entire corporate bond/debt market, so that it wouldn't completely collapse. Not only did I miss that one completely, I didn't even know the FDIC could do that. But yeah, go ahead and tell me how standard corporate financing was easy to obtain with no government guarantee. Let alone for a company that was $30 billion in the hole.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Feb 16, 2012 -> 09:23 PM) I wish Rose would work on the PnR with Booz, DWill and Booz were a great PnR duo. I feel like Noah usually plays further out on offense than Boozer and thus is the one screening the most, do others agree?
