Sox to recognize two studs in Dodger series
QUOTE (fathom @ May 20, 2011 -> 04:21 PM) I like the idea to recognize these two guys. Uribe is definitely someone who seems to be more popular with Sox fans now than when he was actually on the Sox. It doesn't hurt anyone to do this, and it's not like we're recognizing Timo or Luiz Viczaino. C'mon Timo!

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 20, 2011 -> 04:01 PM) No, that Newt had his ringtone sent to Dancing Queen for Frank, because Frank is gay. I'm still lost. He didn't say "Was it "For" Barney Frank, he said "was it Barney Frank". The only 2 nouns in that tweet that I can figure out that the pronoun "it" 2k5 wrote could refer to are the song or Newt. I can't see how asking if "it" is Barney Frank makes sense referring to either of those.

U.S. launches airstrikes on Libya
Oh ****, now I have to agree with Rand Paul. On the bright side, this might actually put the War Powers Act in court. That's constitutionally fascinating.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ May 20, 2011 -> 03:23 PM) Had to get in the last word with the apology. Dude, really, do I have to close the **** catch all thread? If this isn't the last word on this topic...

2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 20, 2011 -> 03:11 PM) I don't think that's specifically trying to get the last word in. I was attempting to defend myself and J4L against the accusations that "we must be removed" as though everyone thinks we're terrible posters. I honestly don't believe that to be the case, so I wanted it said. I didn't even mention the guy making the accusations, nor did I attempt to throw s*** back. Please, just stop. I'm almost begging you before I get really, really unhappy.

2011 NFL Lockout Thread
There are currently 4 different legal cases pending before 3 federal courts and 2 offices of the NLRB regarding the NFL Labor dispute and lockout. That does not bode well for a season.

2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 20, 2011 -> 03:05 PM) I realize that the thread was closed and the posts deleted for a reason, but I'd like to add what I was typing while it was shut down. I actually think J4L brings a lot to this board, and I'd venture to guess that a fair amount of posters respect his thoughts and what he argues. I'd like to think that people view me in a similar fashion. I definitely understand that it can get annoying. Trust me, sometimes I get tired of heard about Hudson, too Dude, really, you can't just let it go, you needed the last word?

Interesting Trade Possibilities.
QUOTE (typewritermender @ May 20, 2011 -> 02:55 PM) Sorry, that's ridiculous. Humber is clearly our 6th starter. He was a fill-in for Peavy, who's back now, and pitching great (granted it's only 2 starts). Who else are we gonna relegate to the pen? Ejax? Danks? We shouldn't keep up a 6-man rotation...that's not allowing our best pitchers enough starts. And we shouldn't trade a good pitcher JUST so that a guy who's been dumped by a bunch of teams and happens to have had a few good starts can be in our rotation. It's always good to have a backup plan. Humber is our backup plan, not the anchor of our rotation. MAYBE if he had a perfect record with a few complete game shutouts. He hasn't been LIGHTS OUT. He's been GOOD. Certainly better than expected. But he's the odd man out. No question. If the pitchers keep performing like this...yes, Edwin goes to the bullpen.

Sox to recognize two studs in Dodger series
QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ May 20, 2011 -> 12:15 PM) Jon Garland and Mark Buehrle have pretty similar stat lines from 2005-2011. Garland has made $48.35 million in this time, Buehrle has made $79.5 million (both including 2011 season). It's impressive what staying with one organization can do for your paycheck. I'll be there tonight to cheer for the great Juan Uribe. It's worth pointing out though that Garland has also pitched in much better pitchers parks (including Petco) and that has served to substantially improve his numbers. Since the start of the 2006 season, in the fangraphs world, M-56 has been worth 18.5 WAR, Jon Garland has been worth 12.7.

How important is this 2 game series with CLE
QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 20, 2011 -> 02:01 PM) Yeah, but thats pretty much every good pen. Cotts still hasnt pitched in the majors since he got hurt, Polite and Hermanson were done shortly after that season. However Gascanino, Marte and Jenks have been legit. Polite and Hermanson also were done because they got hurt the next year and that year.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 20, 2011 -> 12:29 PM) FWIW, I think saving souls>feeding people. Even if I accepted the moronic notion that flying a plane with a banner = saving souls... If you were the person making that decision, which would be more likely to save yours?
