  1. I've signed up for that but I don't base any purchases on it. It's picked up about $30 over a couple years. The more stuff you sign up for the more you can earn through them, but I don't push it that hard myself. There's not a huge downside to signing up and entering your credit card and store card numbers, assuming you're willing to give purchase information out. If you do that then you'll pick up a few cents every time you purchase the right products. If you're not willing to give out that information to effectively the government, then don't sign up. If you want better random ways of getting paid out for stuff I can refer you to a few
  2. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 02:40 PM) It's just nice to have a discussion about the bulls having the potential to be great. Any such discussions (if any) that have taken place since 1998 have included the caveat, "if we could only find that one big star". Well, it certainly appears that we have that one big star. Derrick should only improve from where he is right now and I think we have the right coach to max out his potential. I am not sure that we will win the title this year, but I am pretty confident that will be get one (or three) before DR1 is old and cold. This is just a ridiculously exciting time to be a Bulls fan. I'm not counting my chips before they're cashed. A couple years ago, it looked like Chris Paul was going to be a monster. Chris Paul's best seasons were at age 23-24, with his team peaking at age 23...then he got hurt, and now it's an open question whether he'll ever get to where he was before, since all it takes is just a little loss of quickness for a guy like this to fall back towards good but not amazing. On top of that, who knows if there'll even be an NBA season next year. That's why I wanted a SG this year...because this is the Bulls's chance. They might or might not get another one.
  3. The budget deal will remove Grey Wolves from the endangered species list, for some reason. Of course, this means that after a few years of "Defending the livestock", the wolves will be back on the endangered species list.
  4. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 02:07 PM) My "republican" party is so f***ed when Huckabee and Trump score better than Newt and Pawlenty. Don't read a thing into this type of poll this far out. Seriously. The Obama approval rating might be meaningful, but there's still 8+ months before Florida votes and 95% of the candidates haven't announced yet. The low numbers for Palin might also be meaningful since she's been such a national figure. The others? Trump is up at the top because he has name recognition amongst low-information voters. Huckabee campaigned there last time and there's a hangover. At this point in 2007, Rudy 91u1iani was out to a total and insurmountable lead. He wound up spending $50 million per delegate that he won.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 01:58 PM) Testy this morning... It's afternoon for both me and you.
  6. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 01:52 PM) Please. They're the best in the East and are a game away from having the best record in the league. IIRC their record against contenders is better than anyone else. They've earned that. They don't have to win out for them to be considered great this year. A great year does not a great team make. The 90-91 Bulls were not a great team until they took out the 'Stons and the Lakers. At least that's my view.
  7. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 01:43 PM) But that's the point, everyone assumed they'd be this juggernaut that would rip threw everyone. They're good, yeah, but not great. Great is here in Chicago, where you've got an actual team that plays like a team. Stop calling the Bulls great until they earn it.
  8. QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 01:46 PM) That basically confirms the GOP pov that PP has abortions as their primary focus and not woman's health education and prevention. That the public money allows them to provide abortions by allowing them to channel their private money away from education and prevention over to abortions. I know that isn't the message that PP sends out, but you are probably correct. You missed the underlying point. Under what law does the government have the right to tell a private organization that it can't raise private funds to perform a fully legal medical procedure?
  9. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 01:38 PM) Miami hasn't played well against Boston when Boston had Kendrick Perkins. Boston is not the same team that they were. Boston didn't have Perkins the first couple times those teams met either and they still stomped them. Boston's roster is actually deeper now with Green and possibly at least 1 O'Neal in there. Right now, Boston's problems with the Heat would be mental.
  10. QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 01:38 PM) So you believe that given the choice of funding abortions or other women's health issues, PP will choose to find abortions with their available funding? I think if you banned them from raising private funds for that medical procedure then they'd have to shut down completely.
  11. That author could have done well to spend some time sitting around with a pre-print of his article and sending it to the scientist giving the talk.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 12:57 PM) Honestly the way that the Celtics are going right now, a first round upset wouldn't shock me. By the Knicks/76ers?
  13. I'm still hopeful on the potential of shale-gas, but here's perhaps the biggest wrench I've seen thrown at it. What really concerns me as a possible gas proponent is that the "industry responses" in this article are at least in part, possibly entirely...BS.
  14. So, the Lakers have lost 5 in a row, they've fallen back into a tie (in the records) with the Mavericks but hold the tiebreaker, they're 1 game ahead of the Thunder and could legitimately wind up in 4th place in the West if they can't pull off a final win. They've got the Spurs and then a visit to the Kings on the list.
  15. Remember, Edwin Jackson's agent is one "Scott Boras".
  16. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 11:16 AM) This is very possible. I have noticed some analysts making comments on how Santos has three plus pitches. How many closers can say that? Not many...but not not many need 3 plus pitches though.
  17. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 06:59 PM) Isn't it just removing some funding for abortions? How much is the missing subsidy? like $100 per abortion? Which part? The "Closing Planned Parenthood" part? That would remove $0 funding towards abortions and billions of dollars towards other women's health issues. Costs that would of course wind up being paid 10 times over when those same women wind up at the hospital.
  18. Roided-up-Eric-Gagne during his saves streak, Dave Stewart come to mind immediately.
  19. QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 08:21 AM) None. McCarthy is awful, and Gonzalez and Richard's numbers are inflated because of making a lot of their starts in huge pitcher parks. With that said, I'd still trade Floyd for Gonzalez in a heart beat, but it's more because I am not a Gavin believe at all. Hudson is okay, but I'd still rather have Edwin Jackson. I'll buy that for Richard, but Gio was still an above average pitcher on the road last year. 697 OPS against him on the road, 3.92 ERA, OPS+ of 87.
  20. 4 year, $30.5 million extension for Buchholz. 2 option years at $13 million each at the end.
  21. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 05:23 PM) I can't believe the umps reversed that call, which was good, because that could have started a landslide inning. Out was 100% the correct call.
  22. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 04:28 PM) Come to Purdue and I'll make & deliver you a sandwich! If the only place I could get a Jimmy Johns sandwich was Lafayette, I'd probably visit a few times. Thankfully, I don't have to go to Lafayette to get that. that city is trying to kill me.
