QUOTE (TitoMB @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 02:23 PM) Greg Walker deserves to be fired. There, I did it for ya. No you didn't. You told me that greg walker deserves to be fired, but you didn't fill in the "how"

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 02:14 PM) Gavin should thank the guys behind him for that quick inning. EDIT: Doh. Considering the same guys came back and hit HR in the bottom half of that inning, perhaps he should take them.

White Sox vs Tampa Bay game thread 4-10-11
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 02:20 PM) I haven't seen him take one of those god awful off-balanced swings he took last year. Every swing is compact and dangerous. If you've been watching, he's totally repositioned his hands and feet compared to last year, and it's moved in a way that I think forces him to keep the shoulder closed rather than pulling open. He still has the big knee-up step timing bit in there, but he's got his shoulder and hands moving in the correct direction every time now. I assume someone will tell me how this overhaul means Greg Walker deserves fired shortly.

Beckham did not have 6 RBI last year until May 9. Gordon did not hit his 2nd home run on the season in 2010 until June 25.

Adam Dunn had emergency appendectomy last night.
Dunn took batting practice before the game today. Said he was still a little (you know) sore, but he could (you know) swing a bat as hard as he wanted and was (you know) on the mend (you know).

2011 White Sox closer
QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 01:35 PM) I like that better If you need Thornton in the 8th, use him, and then you still have whatever out of Crain, Santos, and Sale to close the game out.. same thing the other way.. If the problem with these guys is the "Closer's mentality", then having no defined closer will just make things worse, because no one's going to know who's taking the ball coming into the game.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
Wouldn't have guessed this until I saw it. The Lakers are 1 game up on the Mavs and 2 games up on the Thunder, and the Thunder and Lakers play tonight. If the Thunder win this game, the 2-4 seeds in the West suddenly become very, very, very messy.

Nishioka with a broken leg
QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 12:38 PM) That is fine in baseball in the US. However in Japan they wouldn't like that play. They slide to the bag. The "as long as his hand can reach the bag, it's ok" is a distinctly US version of baseball. I don't have a problem with it but I understand why the player might because he wouldn't expect it. "I'm used to the Japanese rules so it's the slider's fault" isn't exactly a quality defense.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 10:31 AM) I don't think so. It's early in the season. Nobody should be worn out. The schedule is set up so all 4 main starters can get 33 starts. In a perfect world, Humber gets two or three, and Peavy gets 27 or 28. "Worn out" in April is not the point.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 08:27 AM) Sox have scored the most runs in baseball and are tied for 2nd most runs given up. The Starters however are in the middle of the pack.

Should Sox hit Felipe with pitch or not Sunday?
QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Apr 9, 2011 -> 10:56 PM) Maddon already said it was a bad move my Lopez. I think it's done, no reason to throw at him. In the NBA, when a guy makes a move like that, clearly taunting the other team to their face, he'll get a T called on him. The refs don't want the other team to retaliate because that always makes it worse. MLB does the exact opposite. MLB doesn't respond until the other team responds, and they suspend the responding team, rather than the instigator.

QUOTE (Cknolls @ Apr 9, 2011 -> 07:13 PM) Now we all know this was not fraud, the votes were cast just not transmitted. Not the same thing. Even the Dems are calling no foul here. Which state was it where there was a bag of votes found in a Democrats's car last time out?

Why doesn't MLB fine a guy if he's clearly taunting and inciting?

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 9, 2011 -> 10:17 PM) Nice job by Humber, but I hope they stick with the plan and skip him until April 19th, when it should be another Wade Davis matchup at the trop. We've got a long string without any offdays coming up at the end of this month...giving everyone in the rotation an extra day off would be a smart move.

2011 White Sox closer
QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Apr 9, 2011 -> 02:53 PM) Ignoring Thorton's blown save against the Royals then? That one was legitimately on a bloop/decent pitch. Ignoring that is the same as ignoring the couple guys Sale put on base when he was pitching against Cleveland.

Linebrink comes in and promptly gives up a grand slam. I guess our bullpen could be worse.
