Things that need to come back...
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 03:23 PM) Crystal Pepsi died because it sucked, and needs to stay dead. The "First" crystal Pepsi was actually, IMO, delicious. They had it out for about 8 weeks, then they changed the formula to the Crystal Pepsi everyone remembers, with an announcement that they had a new crystal pepsi. That one was awful.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 03:26 PM) Why do people buy cases of water...when you can buy a cheap water filter and save all the plastic. If I could drive everyone in the country past the "Crystal Geyser" bottling plant, the bottled water industry would end. Forever.

Your 2011 starting 3B is...
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 03:31 PM) In the world of baseball anything out of the ordinary is frowned upon as hotdogging it. Ken Griffey Jr, went through the same thing because he wore his hat backwards. At this point, it's more than just that with Milledge. He got it at first because he was hotdogging and doing so on a veteran team in NYC. Now he's gotten 3 teams to part with him.

Super Official 2011 White Sox predictions thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 02:52 PM) I don't see too much more being in the coffers unless the economy really improves a lot and we win a lot. The biggest thing that I see being the problem is that Danks is going to be really young when he hits the market, and he will be looking at something from 6 to possibly 8 years depending on how his next two year go. We went to four years for Buehrle as a major exception. Seeing what is going on with Peavy is only going to strengthen that resolve against long extensions for pitchers. At least to my eyes...the Sox's attendance figures have fallen so drastically since 2005 that a couple division wins gives significant room for revenue improvement from here.

Peavy had rotator cuff tendinitis
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 05:17 PM) It's like a repeat of the LeBron madness this past summer Really, no. It's like that in the sense that it's 1/1000th of it.

Peavy had rotator cuff tendinitis
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 02:43 PM) Nothing says optimal value like a 60 pitch limit by your $16-17 million dollar a year pitcher going into the second month of the season. Peavy won't sniff the White Sox roster until June at the absolute earliest. It's really going to be fun bumping this thread if Jake comes back and throws a shutout in late April/early May.

Super Official 2011 White Sox predictions thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 02:42 PM) Even if he puts up numbers close to what he has, he is looking at a much longer contract than the Sox will ever sign him too. Forget about Danks, he is already gone. Mark my words. John Danks will not be on the White Sox in 2013. Though I am sure that is just me being a blind homer again... I wonder what kind of salary/revenue level we'd be looking at if we won the 2011 and 2012 Central divisions and had 1 deep playoff run in there.

Super Official 2011 White Sox predictions thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 02:38 PM) Danks will be getting 7 or 8 years if he puts up those kind of numbers, which roughly translates to not a chance in hell. He meant Jackson will get 5/75 if Jackson puts up those #'s.

Official 2010-2011 NCAA Basketball Thread
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 01:56 PM) My comment had nothing to do with comparisons to other schools, i just though he did better thats all. Part of the reason you're right is that with the players he had, he could/should have done better. Between Hopson being inconsistent and the guys who were suspended/removed from the team last year for driving with an unregistered gun with the serial number removed last year, he should have had more than he won.

Peavy had rotator cuff tendinitis
QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 02:08 PM) Peavy story on 60 pitch limit... http://content.usatoday.com/communities/da...content=Twitter Ok, so that's just what his surgeon is guessing his body will be able to handle. That's a totally different thing from the team coming out and saying "60 pitch limit through May 1".

Peavy had rotator cuff tendinitis
QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 01:20 PM) Peavy will be limited to 60 pitches going into May. Might as well write him off until at least June. DId you actually read that somewhere?

Peavy had rotator cuff tendinitis
QUOTE (YASNY @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 12:09 PM) Regardless, a vast majority of the posters on this board were ecstatic when we acquired Peavy. And if either Jake pitches up to his contract or there's an insurance policy on Jake's contract covering portions where he's on the DL long term, those ecstatic posters would continue to be correct.

Peavy had rotator cuff tendinitis
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 11:22 AM) Yes, the Hudson trade will probably hurt in the long run. But Clayton Richard is a back-of-the-rotation innings eater in the AL. Not bad, but nothing to be worried about. The reason people are annoyed with the Peavy trade isn't the stuff that was given up, it's taking on Jake's contract.

Peavy had rotator cuff tendinitis
QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 11:25 AM) I think the flu could be a factor here. People get muscle aches for seemingly no good reason at all and can be less than 100% for weeks. This is in addition to throwing with weakened muscles from a surgically repaired lat. I'm not ready to drag Jake's name through the mud over a little shoulder soreness in spring training when most of us did not expect him to sniff the opening day roster. If anything, I blame the training staff for letting a guy with the flu come back too soon. The blame falls on the Sox. They are in charge of his rehab. They seem a little star struck by him and his competitive personality. Who here didn't think Jake would push himself hard? Of course the Sox should have known that too and forced him to rehab at a reasonable pace. Seriously folks, why exactly are we concluding that he "Pushed himself too hard"? He could have taken an extra 4 months off doing weight training and still wound up with tendinitis when he started throwing...because he hadn't been throwing at an MLB-level for nearly a year.

ST: 3/21 vs Padres
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Mar 21, 2011 -> 10:47 PM) I'd like to know if the changes to his swing are legitimate, or this is just a small sample size/spring training illusion. Either way I'd bet he's traded at some point. If he can become a serviceable RH hitting backup catcher next year, I'd hate to trade him. We actually have a need for that position, and seriously, let's be honest, he's a throw-in at this point.

Illinois enacts Internet sales tax law
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 09:07 AM) It isn't a tax reduction at that point. It is a subsidy or social entitlement, depending on how you package it. It also means that for 364 days a year the taxpayer is paying a regressive tax and losing income, which is made up for on the one day a year when they get their tax refund. It is a terrible idea that hurts poor people's spending power for pretty much the entire year. Sales taxes are incredibly regressive, and shouldn't be used if at all possible. Same with any other sort of usage tax or fee. Why do you think he was calling for a tax cut?
