  1. Anyone have tips for preventing arthritic joints from getting worse?
  2. Now sing that line.
  3. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 22, 2011 -> 08:16 AM) New Zealand lives under constant geological threat from earthquakes and even volcanoes, along with the side effects from those (slides, tsunami, etc.). I'm surprised that an event of this size did this much damage in an area like NZ...which is ridiculously earthquake-prone.
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 10:37 PM) http://twitter.com/#!/HermSchneider
  5. If Albert Pujols hits the FA market this winter, you can bet there will be people here suggesting we ought to take the gamble and go after him.
  6. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 10:34 AM) Wild card from the Central? And no two teams in the East with 90 wins? That would definitely be a surprise. I wouldn't be shocked at all if only 1 team in the East got to 90 wins.
  7. I know a few people here who are suddenly going to be Yankee fans.
  8. More at article if you click thorugh.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 05:26 PM) I think he has his catcher's gear on underneath. That's the 2nd or 3rd pic in this thread where he's appeared abnormally large for himself. I'll hope you're right.
  10. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 04:53 PM) Things are going to get messy if there starts to be direct outside interference. But if Gaddifi is going to fight until the end, outside interference may be a necessity. It sounds like things are already messy.
  11. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 04:23 PM) When he has spent the past 2 years saying it was not about the money, yes I am kind of surprised. If St. Louis hadn't offered something that even the people who wanted to call Pujols greedy were thinking was insulting, then we'd potentially have the chance to test that.
  12. At least when TN passed the "Guns in bars are great!" bill, they at least allowed bars to opt-out and declare that guns were banned on their premises. Think they'll give the same right to faculty to ban firearms from their classes?
  13. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 03:23 PM) And it costs $3.79 a bottle That's it? Is that with a 2 year AT&T contract?
  14. People have been talking 10/300 for Pujols since ARoid signed his last deal. Y'all really are surprised at Pujols pushing for something on that order?
  15. Just in case anyone was worried it wasn't yet official...
  16. QUOTE (ptatc @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 02:16 PM) It will only hurt the Cardinals in the short term. It's a very loyal fan base and they know baseball. If someone else it's crazy enough to give him 10 years then most fans will understand in a couple of years. Problem they really have is...they lose Pujols, they're in a position where they have little choice but a total rebuild. It'll be several years before they can legitimately be a competitor in that division. They know it too.
  17. QUOTE (ptatc @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 02:30 PM) The team that won the World Series was in the lower half of MLB in OPS and most other offensive stats. They were in 1-4 places in most pitching and fielding stats. Pitching is always more important than offense. A better DH would not have made up the dfference in the 2nd half pitching especially the bullpen. With an unproven pen, it's performance will likely determine the success of this season as well. Here's a scary number that both agrees and disagrees with you. Team ERA as reliever, American League, 2010. 1. Tampa Bay, 3.33 2. Texas, 3.38 3. NY Yankees, 3.47 4. Minnesota Twins, 3.49 5. Chicago Sox, 3.73. The Sox actually had a bullpen that was *almost* good enough to hang with the rest of the league. But not quite. The 4 bullpens better than us made the playoffs.
  18. QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 01:43 PM) I think this will start more college shooting sprees than end them. It seems like such a bad idea no one is really taking the proposals seriously, but it seems both states have the needed votes. I wouldn't necessarily say "shooting sprees". It's so **** easy to buy a high-powered rifle or semi-automatic handgun that if a person is going to go on a shooting spree, they're going to do it. What it probably will do, if it happens, is dramatically increase the number of accidental shootings and single-shooting incidents on campuses.
  19. Dating any random muslim is an invitation to being treated poorly? No bigotry there whatsoever.
  20. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 01:28 PM) Wow, seriously? He makes a spot on, general point about the treatment of women. He never said we're perfect, they're f***ed up. He said as a matter of degree, they're worse. I dunno how you can refute that given some of the laws those countries have. And you chose to join him in straight-up bigotry. Congratulations.
  21. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 12:25 PM) But Pujols has to know that he can't have it both ways. If he told them to get a big bat in order to keep him, and understanding their payroll, he'd know that it would be damn near impossible to set that team up financially. If indeed he told the Cardinals that they need a big bat like Holliday's in order for him to be interested in staying, he's a jagoff to then go out and ask for $300 million. Then the Cardinals should have traded him a year ago and made it clear exactly what his public demands were. Albert Pujols has every right to demand things both ways. It hurts the Cardinals a lot more than him if he walks.
  22. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 12:09 PM) Well, there's a difference between repeated usage of the filibuster at historic levels to stop bills that have been debated and discussed and negotiated for months and stopping this train wreck of a bill that's had no discussion or negotiation but has a very big impact on the state of Wisconsin for years to come. I'd call that a distinction without a difference. I am happy to see 2k5 coming around and supporting the Wisconsinan workers though.
  23. And Bill Maher is drifting rapidly into straight-up anti-muslim bigotry. (Video at link).
