Hendriks tipping his pitches?
Day to day, but we left him out there!

GAMETHREAD 4/26/22: KC Royals at ChiSox (Lynch vs Keuchel) 6:10 pm CDT
There a lefty on the mound and Harrison hasn’t played in several days. Leury is having excellent success as the LH part of this super strong platoon.

What The Actual F# Is Wrong With This Team?
So there is what, literally 1 team in baseball with a higher SLG than xSLG?

Lynchis a lefty so very good chance they jump on him. Just need Keuchel and defense to be not terrible.

I do not know what happened this week, but these last 6 games are exactly what a team looks like on the field when they are distracted by a clubhouse in disarray.

For the last 3.5 years of his tenure he clearly would have rather been on his couch. His lack off motivation showed everywhere.

Hendriks tipping his pitches?
Ruiz was already warm. Hendriks with a back hurting was not a better option than him. Period. Extra end of statement for emphasis. And Liam Hendriks not wanting to find out if the game is exactly why you should have a manager. That’s literally his job - to manage volatile personalities and make the right decision for the team. The only way it isn’t a managerial mistake is if we’ve finally admitted he isn’t even bothering to manage. Which, frankly, is totally consistent with that inning.

- Hendriks tipping his pitches?
No. He awkwardly fielded a ball thrown back to him by Grandal to start the 10th inning. That's when the problems started. LaRussa was ready to go out with the trainer after seeing the awkward move, but Hendriks yelled him away. He then continued wincing noticeably after multiple pitches and walked around the mound between pitches like he was trying to stretch out his back. Meanwhile, his performance on the mound deteriorated. He yelled at LaRussa to stay away that he was fine, but he clearly wasn't fine. The radio guys were literally begging LaRussa to come out, DJ said something very close to "you've at least got to come out and make him look you in the eye and tell you what's going on" and then the next pitch went 450 feet. Hendriks may have other issues with tipping pitches, giving up HR, but in the specific case of yesterday, him waving off the manager the first time - I get that, he doesn't want to come out and that's his personality. But if you see him throw a pitch and wince, and then do it again, and you sit on your hands until the game is lost after he does it over and over - that's a big time mistake. That's completely asleep at the wheel. On top of that, any time your $13 million pitcher decides to try to throw through pain, you're risking that pitcher hurting himself worse by screwing up his normal mechanics. We're lucky he didn't hurt himself worse while doing so. Yesterday was malpractice. That doesn't mean it's the only issue with Hendriks, but yesterday in the 10th inning was yet another big managerial mistake.- Hendriks tipping his pitches?
You take out the guy having back spasms and wincing when he throws pitches, get him a day of treatment, and hopefully he's ready to go on Tuesday. Ever think that maybe a tiny bit of back pain on the pitch might have ben a reason why his fastball flattened out an rode up in the zone yesterday, leading first to a walk of the weak hitting #9 hitter after a couple of the pitches were up and out of the zone...and then a ball hit fairly hard to Buxton?- Would you rather . . .
One title always.- Hendriks tipping his pitches?
Yes. Liam then continued showing discomfort over the next several pitches, with it seemingly getting worse as the walk turned into a Buxton at bat. Unfortunately, the manager resumed his nap after he was yelled at by Hendriks, so nothing could be done. On the radio, DJ was saying how his discomfort was getting more obvious with each pitch and maybe the manager needed to overrule the player here, and the next pitch went 425 feet.- TLR 2022 Thread
If he were to resign midseason, aside from guys on his staff the guy I think they might ask would be Thome.- TLR 2022 Thread
Right now we have the worst possible combination- a guy who has no idea what he’s doing and no professionalism, but insists he does, and an owner who has fully empowered him. A guy who doesn’t know what he’s doing, but still tries the best he can, who is willing to work with people, and who just tries to be professional is an upgrade just by trying.- TLR 2022 Thread
Genuinely wondering whether mgr. unwritten rules noticed that and was ok with it.- 2022 MLB catch all thread

This one is something else.- Sox @ Twins
There’s a part you didn’t note - for a RF, throwing is magnified because they’re the farthest from 3b and that’s where more throws need to get to. Pollock had the weakest throwing arm in baseball among regular OFs over the past few years. That’s manageable in CF and LF but magnified in RF…and maybe more importantly, one of his major season-costing injuries was to his throwing arm. For a guy with a long injury history, this should be a worry until the day he opts out for ‘23.- Hendriks tipping his pitches?
He absolutely had some back spasms happening today. I don’t know if it will be a long term thing or not, but it definitely was enough that it was bothering him on every pitch. A professional manager lets him throw a pitch or two, sees he’s wincing after every pitch, and is out there with the trainer no matter how pissed he is. He might well be ready on Tuesday. But he should have been pulled before he got to give up the walk, let alone the HR.- TLR 2022 Thread
My lord I hated Ventura. That guy got extended somehow after he and his team quit simultaneously, and eventually his poor leadership resulted in the teams best player shredding his uniform and a preteen being declared the team leader. People retired because of how bad he was. That was still better than this.- TLR 2022 Thread
I kept a detailed record for the first half of last season but then stopped in the second half.- TLR 2022 Thread
They’re 4-2 at home and 2-7 on the road. They have KC this week with Cease and Kopech getting two starts. They have a solid chance at winning this series again, especially after an off day. That shouldn’t blind people to how badly managed the last week was.- Sox @ Twins

A minor groin tweak is nothing big. If you are talking about whether he is on Buxton’s level, that 0/21 stretch is more important for now. Robert has taken over and won 1 game this year, but wasn’t helping t all before he got hurt. - Hendriks tipping his pitches?
