QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 09:39 PM) You are assuming that no time and effort was spent with the guy. Thats a pretty big assumption. In terms of PT on the court, it wasn't zero, but IMO it wasn't enough. The counterpoint is that no amount of time would have fixed him, and although I don't agree, I'll respect that opinion and leave it there. -
The best discussion is coming from a blog, but it's interesting me. Simon Johnson (former IMF economist) is writing today that there is now some serious weakening coming from the Eurozone financial system, that could have serious repercussions worldwide if it escalates.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 08:54 PM) The Clippers would be horrible. He'd play behind Griffin and Kaman, and they could actually become really good with a healthy, lived up to hype Griffin. I can't really see anyone other than the Knicks or Warriors. After the moves they made last offseason, I think he'd fit in Detroit too. But that team's a mess anyway. -
Suddenly that's the Brees we saw against the Patriots.

That was the most vehement pile for a football I've ever seen.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 08:18 PM) So how much time exactly do you waste on a guy that is a lost cause. You have three coaches and four years wasted so far. Taj is helping you win. Tyrus just needs to go away and grow up. In the loss on Friday before he blew up, TT had 12 points and 6 rebounds in 15 minutes on the floor, and was benched down the stretch while the small lineup couldn't get a rebound ahead of Josh Smith while Taj was on the floor. Even when he's not sucking, they bench him anyway and lose games when they can't rebound. Bah. Just par for the course. I think they decided a long time ago that they'd rather lose games to try to alter his attitude than win with him on the court. Such a terrible trade that turned out to be. -
That would have been 10x better if Keith Moon had been around to randomly detonate the stage afterwards.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 08:10 PM) The Who sucks. Horrible selection. But Roger Daltry will not expose his breasts. And that's all that matters.
-
Very cool stage, awkward song-to-song transition, Daltry sounds like a man in his 60's. Can we get his balls sliding into a camera now?

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 07:59 PM) Come on Balta, VDN and Boylan both had plenty of assistants with Head coaching experience, and both of those guys make their decisions with consultation from their assistants. Thomas has displayed the same behavior consistently since he has been drafted, this isnt a case of 3 years of coaches unwilling to teach a player, this is a case of 3 years of a player unwilling to learn and elevate his own game. Let me say it in a different way. If the team is going to spend the equivalent of a #2 pick on a guy who is already known as being very raw, then it better damn well make figuring out how to develop him priority #1. I never got the feeling that they had it even in their top 5 priorities at any point. IF they weren't going to, or couldn't develop him, then either the people who couldn't develop him should have been sacked, or the people who picked him should have been sacked. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 05:54 PM) MSNBC and CNN does give Obama a big advantage. Yup. Joe Scarborough spends 3 hours in the morning loving the Democrats.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 05:47 PM) it wasn't great least year either. They still won the division. And their pitching was worse at the Metrodome than on the road.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 06:09 PM) Or after three coaches have benched him in three years, most likely, he is unteachable. You actually count VDN and Jim Boylan as 2 coaches? I think there's about 1/3 of a coach in there. -
That was a true Ron Turner playcalling set at the goalline.

QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 04:31 PM) ^^Really, you think A Gon would command $180 million? Look at what Mark Teixeira got last offseason from the Yankees. 8/$180, the exact number I just quoted. He'll be a year older than Tex when he hits FA, but there'll also be 3 years of salary inflation between those 2 times. I'd be surprised if he can't beat 8/$180 with Boston or the Mets after 2011, assuming he doesn't get hurt and he keeps up approximately the same production he's averaged the last 2 years.
-
QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 03:41 PM) This is the part of the whole discussion I am not sure on if it ever gets this far. Do the Pads want controllable MLB ready talent that can contribute this year or at the latest as August/Sep callups, or they want toolsy prospects like JM with a ton of upside but who are 2 years away at the least? I say the first argument because most posts I see and what Kevin Towers was saying as the direction they were headed in before he was fired. OK if push comes to shove and we have to include Mitchell instead of a Flowers or Hudson then it is worth the gamble, but AGon would have to be open to discussing an extension. This team won't be extending Gonzalez. Not because he wouldn't stay, but instead because we're not going to be offering him 8/$180.

Magic just dropped a 36-11 3rd quarter on the Celtics. -
QUOTE (lostfan @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 04:11 PM) Usually for the Super Bowl there is one team I'm pulling hard for because I can't stand the other team (like the Giants over the Pats) but this year I don't mind either team. I'll root for the Colts since I'm from Indiana, but yeah, it's difficult to be mad if the Saints win.

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 03:44 PM) i would think she'll be popular enough to win the GOP nomination but couldnt possibly be respected enough to win a general - barring total disaster happening as a precursor to that election year Like say, being in the middle of the 3rd year of 10%+ unemployment?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 03:15 PM) She's like a Subaru. She has a cult-like following, but fortunately, won't ever build up major market position. Too much plastic. Subaru doesn't have an entire broadcast and media empire devoted to selling their product.

QUOTE (logic101 @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 03:10 PM) Pretty sure the Sox can't trade Jared Mitchell. Teams have to wait one year before draft choices are eligible to be traded. A player can be placed on a PTBNL list for up to 6 months. The Sox could have traded Mitchell by putting his name on a PTBNL list since late December.

That is a NICE suit on Manning.
