Melky Cabrera could be a defensive upgrade, but with Rios already out there, it'd be at best a small upgrade in CF and a decent upgrade in RF. However...the impact of a solid upgrade in RF defense is going to be minimal. What this team really needs is bats, esp. bats that fit a certain profile, either LH power or a high OBP/leadoff type hitter to balance things out. Cabrera...career .331 OBP, will hit probably about 10 home runs, put up an OPS somewhere around .725-750. He's just not a very good fit for our current needs. There are potentially better options on the trade market, and if Crisp is healthy, he's a similar player off the FA market that we wouldn't have to give up talent to trade for, and who might fill the leadoff role slightly better.

Perhaps we should take bets about how long this thread runs.
