QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 06:07 PM) actually, they got hot at the same time the Sox took a dive, at this point in the season, after scuffling a bit, they caught fire and went 17-3. But this coincided with a slide by the Sox, which only stoked that fire for them i'm sure. Plus we have minny to jump over. Still...they proved it can be done, with some help. The Indians had a .750 winning %age for like 2 months in the 2nd half. The Sox were still over .500 in the 2nd half, we just had a bad late-August.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 04:42 PM) I can tell you from what I remember, PacifiCare was the worst about stupid denials. They just wanted to stretch out payment. This was my point a few days ago that data honestly doesn't mean crap - and this is one of those stories where people can infer the wrong things. And "Stupid denials" is exactly the point. They're rejecting a certain percentage as a standard policy and then fighting a little bit whenever the person challenges, and hoping they wont' challenge it. That's the point of this whole thing.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 04:43 PM) Oh good lord yes. He'd be ... horrible. What, you don't think California's been run effectively the last couple years?

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 04:02 PM) Rejected for what? Are these denials (coding errors or some other issue) or ineligible charges? There's a lot more underneath this then the surface would suggest, IMO. Of course there's a lot under that. But that doesn't mean there's no value to the data.

I wonder what the data is for Medicare. Considering it costs less per person. That's a huge rate for everyone but Aetna. Basically 1/3 or higher.

This strikes me as an odd situation to use Carrasco.

Well, if Podsednik was going to have one of those random 3 hit days he keeps having that keep his average up after the team fell flat, at least he did it against the Cubs.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 01:31 PM) They're doing the same thing that Limbaugh's doing, except they get a pass because they're on the "Comedy Channel". But go on thinking whatever you want to about it. I have 2 responses here. The first is: HAHAHA. The 2nd is a joke. They're doing that much oxycontin? I had no idea.

This doesn't strike me as that interesting. You can see planes of molecules using TEM, for example.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 10:25 AM) You don't get an understanding of current events by listening to Limbaugh or any other demagogue. That includes Stewart and Colbert, to a point. You don't understand what Stewart and Colbert are doing if you don't already have an understanding of a lot of the things they're talking about before they broach them.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 12:16 PM) Furthermore, I believe that KW shopped Allen around to see what he could get, and that Pena was the best that was offered. I doubt there was some other team offering us the world for Allen. On the other hand, it was also rumored that Pena was one of those guys that KW might have had his eye on for a while for some reason. Those guys are guys that KW occasionally will overpay to try to get.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 2, 2009 -> 08:07 PM) I was totally going there... A century ago? You mean Tesla actually pulled off time travel too?

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Sep 2, 2009 -> 07:43 PM) Ah, whatever works, for trashing MSNBC. What you don't realize is what that says about you.

Really you had to go with the misogynist one?

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Sep 2, 2009 -> 06:49 PM) It will be nice once they have their open air stadium... no more air conditioner... although it will be cold as a mofo in the early part of the season. No it won't. It's not cold at all when you never come in because of the snowstorm and you stay trapped in your hotel. Did anyone notice PK14's comment today about how balls tend to die out there in late innings for some reason? I loved that. You just know what he's talking about there. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 2, 2009 -> 06:09 PM) QB is a decoy. If he leaves the field of play, teams know what is coming. Thus, he has to line up. And they don't know what's coming when he's out at WR?
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 2, 2009 -> 06:37 PM) There is a way to do that... I tried for a job at Oxford but they wanted the position filled before my defense date. Just off the lower costs it'd be worth it - for the same exact position you take home an extra $4200 per year on average.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 2, 2009 -> 06:27 PM) Remember the last time we came back against Joe Nathan? I sure as hell don't. Late in 2006 JD launched a game tying HR off of him in the 9th and pumped his fist running around the bases. The Sox lost the game in 12. It pretty much encapsulated their season. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 2, 2009 -> 06:17 PM) More like find a way to make medical personnel work for military wages and you have something. Or just let us all buy in to some other country's system.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Sep 2, 2009 -> 05:36 PM) Never will happen because QBs dont run more than 2-3 yards on these plays once the ball is snapped. The QBs for the most part arent in involved in any danger. The danger is on the defense since it seems like the QBs dont know how to block and when they do, its illegal and potentially harmful. I don't know why you'd actually want the QB on the field for that formation 1/2 the time unless you're planning on giving him the ball as a passer. Isn't the whole idea that you go from playing 10 on 11 to playing 11 on 11?

QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 2, 2009 -> 05:44 PM) I guess he's the only one that really got away from those 03 trades then. Didn't we trade Rauch for Everett when we got him from Montreal? Yes, the 2nd time around Rauch was traded for Everett. That was after he stormed out of the clubhouse mid-game and KW basically said he'd never play for us again. -
Tough fight, it's marching to the east a little more now along the range. It looks like Mount Wilson is going to survive I'd say, but there's some serious threat to structures to the East. Supposed to gradually start cooling down from here, and we've gone from less than 2000 firefighters on it on Monday to over 4000 today, plus we've got the giant super-air-tanker thingies hitting it in the key spots now (We rent them from Canada starting on Sept. 1, but for some strange reason the fire season keeps starting earlier every year. Almost as if something was slowly warming and drying out the area.)

I'm not going to find the Madoff thread, but this would have been great.
