  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 02:27 PM) What starting outfield have you seen in a boxscore WORSE than that one in recent weeks? I can't think of any of the top of my head. Have you looked at any of the NL team lineups?
  2. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 01:45 PM) Was Todd Helton a steroid user? If you look at the stats, his HR totals declined big time after 04 (when PED testing first got some-what serious). Plus, after 04, he started to suffer from various injuries... However, his HR numbers really began to drop after 2001 when they started using the humidor for the balls. The only person I've heard more vehemently deny a steroid use accusation than Todd Helton was Rafael Palmeiro. I have no idea what that means.
  3. QUOTE (chisox2334 @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 02:23 PM) can you blame ozzie? nothing he can do about situation with the way this team has been playing. When something remarkable like a .650 OPS at the Cell is the reason for the way this team has been playing, then Ozzie needs to do something, because that's a mental thing.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 02:17 PM) Why does BA always play like this after teasing us with a week of "decent" hitting? In most of his career Anderson has been a better hitter against RHP than LHP. When we platoon him and only play him against LHP, it screws him up on everything. It's been that way since 2006.
  5. Last year, Alexei averaged 3.27 P/PA. This year he's at 3.65 so far.
  6. Leadoff single for Podsednik...perhaps a scoring chance...
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 01:06 PM) Anderson's been in the majors for parts of 5 seasons. Parts of 5 seasons. My point exactly. He never gets treated like a regular, and his bat never comes around because he's never facing live pitching.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 01:01 PM) I'd be more interested in seeing Fields and Anderson come up with a different hitting coach, as obviously this particular hitting coach has not been able to get through to them. Totally disagree. Anderson has had more than a few stretches where he's had his swing in a good place. He then winds up benched for 2 weeks. Fields has, to my eyes, shown marked improvement over the last couple weeks. Ditto Getz, for that matter.
  9. So far, in the past couple years, I've been driven crazy with Ozzie's insistence on losing ballgames by benching and then refusing to develop Anderson, multiple Bulls Coaches insistence on benching Tyrus Thomas, multiple Bulls coaches insistence on benching Joakim Noah, Vinny Del Negro's insistence on benching Derrick Rose for the 4th quarter a couple months ago, and now we're calling up Beckham to not play him. Do other cities have coaches who think like this or is this somehow a city-wide phenomenon?
  10. By then who knows how many surgeries Zambrano will have gone through. He could easily be where Freddie Garcia is now, based on his fastball's trajectory the last few years.
  11. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 10:53 AM) Ozzie thinks he's a bust.... Maybe he's spent too much time in the last 2 days talking to Anderson.
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 10:37 AM) Why can't he play tomorrow? It's a 2 game suspension. Because at the time of day that post was made, people aren't always clear on what day it is.
  13. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 03:39 AM) tomorrow No need to worry, he's getting the appropriate benching. And That's not sarcasm.
  14. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 10:47 AM) haha, they're sitting beckham f***ing idiots, just f***ing idiots maybe they'll sub him in later, doubt it though Rookies break if they play more than 2 games in a row.
  15. I ask Jobu to come and take fear from bats. He will come.
  16. QUOTE (tommy @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 02:40 PM) Would you say as of right now Jordan Danks is better than Brian Anderson? At hitting major league pitching? No.
  17. QUOTE (tommy @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 02:26 PM) Is creatine a banned substance in the MLB ? It is now. It was not in 1998.
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 01:37 PM) And not only was he a top pick (13th overall), he freaking hit over .350 during the course of two minor league seasons (2003 & 2004) which thus placed him incredibly high on the 2005 list (which comes out after the 2004 regular season), just before the 2005 season starts. For pete sake he hit .372 in 199 ab's at 21 in AAA (his first go-round), after putting up a .368 clip in 28 games in AA (at 21 years old). Gimme a break here...all I remember about him on the way up is how for about 3 years everyone here wanted to trade him and Figgins for Konerko.
  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 12:57 PM) Why not higher, because first baseman, unless they are top top prospects or hitting 50+ hr's in the minors, typically don't get rated super highly. Did someone think Casey Kotchman had big time power potential at some point down the line? In 2005 he topped out at #5 on their list (Right before Scott Kazmir) and he'd never put up big time power numbers at any stop.
  20. QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 01:11 PM) So let me get this straight, all of the managers and coaches of the National League who voted for McLouth to win the GG didn't notice his "startling" lack of range? Surprising, seeing that they're the ones watching him play every single day, and you are likely the one watching him on SC or BBTN. Do we really need to go through some of the embarrassing examples of gold gloves being handed out to people who totally don't deserve them? Palmeiro in 1999 winning at 1b when he spent 135 games at DH? Torii Hunter winning for playing 1/2 of a season? Derek Jeter winning one period? Here's some commentar on McLouth's glove.
