  1. Even though Mark hasn't had his best stuff today or the first game of the year against KC, he's about 1/3 of the way to the record for consecutive scoreless innings, held by Orel Hersheiser.
  2. I've seen it a few times -- pretty rare though. NICE DP turned by MB and Jose. Inning over.
  3. I know that when Jose was up, Davis went to his mouth to lick his fingers while on the mound. That's an automatic ball.
  4. Don't we play them tomorrow? You want the Tigers to beat us? Shame! Yeah thats right....... Soxtalk.com is just a front for our true passion......TigersTalk.com Well, at least you're being honest after all this time.
  5. Don't we play them tomorrow? You want the Tigers to beat us? Shame!
  6. Yes, 1 inning, and this team has finally gelled
  7. There's no doubt that when Sandy is healthy, he'll VERY much help this team. He's a high .200's hitter for his career, and calls a fine game -- can't ask a catcher to do much more for the money he's making.
  8. Cool, Frank is 49th on the all-time HR list. Not too bad for a guy who isn't your bona fide power guy (got lots of power, but doesn't try to hit HR's like some other guys). Frank walks, after Valentin walked and Jimenez flew out. 2 on for Magglio. He comes through with a single to LF and drives home Jose, and extends his hitting streak to 7 1-0 early, Paulie comin up.
  9. Well, thankfully the game's on. I have to listen to these crappy Indians announcers though. They're wearing leather jackets.
  10. Well, the Devil Rays suck, and they are going nowhere fast, so I think this is a worthwhile risk for Sweet Lou. What's the worse than can happen? Rocker will blow a game or 2 and then get cut? BFD, what's the difference between 90 losses and 92 or 93? I feel that Rocker is good enough to be in the majors, but not for a contending team -- at least not until he gets some help for his issues. His antics could potentially cost a good team a shot at the post season -- but a team like TB, the potential gain outweighs the potential loss, IMO.
  11. Really? Isn't the game on WCIU in Chicago? Maybe I misread something. As far as I know, WCIU games aren't shown on MLB EI, and the schedule says the game is going to be on, so I don't know what channel the feed will be coming from -- I hope it's not blacked out.
  12. Heh, really? If saying "let's wait and see" is wrong to say for a young pitcher, then I'm sorry, all of you Prior lovers -- but I said the same thing about Buehrle, and I'll continue to say the same thing about any young player (pitchers especially) -- they need to prove it over at least a 2 year period.
  13. Chisoxfn, The only bad thing about today's game (for us at least) is that I think we're going to have to listen to the Cleveland announcers. The Sox are carrying it on WCIU (I think that's it), while I think the feed we're going to be seeing on MLB EI is the Fox Sports Net feed from Cleveland.
  14. Well, I haven't watched it since Kruk left, but the show was great the last time I saw it. Arnold and Salley are very funny, and they do some funny skits (that might be the wrong word for it). Quality sports humor show.
  15. I don't understand why everyone has their face in Prior's jock. It's almost as sickening as that Rodriguez guy on the Angels (who is suddenly God after a few good innings at the ML level). I heard that Prior says his style is a combination of Roger Clemens and Nolan Ryan. I'm sorry, but for any young pitcher to compare themself to either of those 2 men is completely absurd. Until he's struck out 5,000, won 300, thrown 7 no-no's, or won 5 Cy Young awards, punk Prior should keep his mouth shut and try to avoid looking like a moron. Let the "experts" make the comparisons -- he needs to just go out and pitch. Prior might be the real deal, but let's see him pitch 2 or 3 years in the majors before we tout him as "great".
  16. In defense of Cleveland fans.... - EVERY team's fans would show up in droves if their team had won several division titles in a row and had lineups with players such as Albert Belle, Jim Thome, Manny Rameriez, Kenny Lofton, Roberto Alomar, Bartolo Colon, et al and a shot to win every night. - The weather was AWFUL.
  17. This is not directed at any one person in particular, so save your replies and attacks, but.... is disgraceful. :fyou Canada....ingrates.
  18. Jaret Wright sucks. He should retire before he further embarasses himself and his family.
  19. It's called giving a future HOF'er the benefit of the doubt. I feel he deserves it after all he's accomplished in his career. If players sat out everytime they weren't 100%, almost every superstar would be bench warmers. Playing with injuries is part of the game -- sometimes you perform well with injuries, and sometimes you don't.
  20. Far be it from me to criticize, but could you guys ANNOUNCE WHAT INNING IT IS?!
  21. How about when someone is hitting .238 and has been s*** all of previous year, should you then at least wonder if something is wrong with his batspeed, perhaps? By all accounts, it takes 2 full years to recover from the INJURY that he suffered in 2001 (you DO remember that, don't you?). 2001 was year #1...2002 was year #2. That means that this year he should be back to normal. If, come late-May or June, his average is still .238, then yes, there is a ton of reason to be concerned. But, I do not see that happening. Also, at this point of the season, it just takes a 3-4 game to make your avg. go from .238 to .300, so stats can be very deceptive to say the least.
  22. OK I just want to ask, so what? Frank is hitting .238. He has 5 hits and 8 walks which is what gives him his huge OBP. My question is why would you use his 8 walks to justify his bat speed? That doesn't make any sense to me? When someone has an OBP near .500, you should not complain about his swing. That was my point. And I will revert back to my statement that Frank is a slow starter, and his numbers will improve as the season progresses.
