As for #3, she looks very bad regardless of her intentions. Either she was trying to kill herself, which obviously shows she is mentally screwed up, or she was looking for attention, which would crush her credibility (she could just be looking for attention again) and also means she's mentally screwed up. This revelation was probably the most damning thing that could have happened to the prosecution.
  2. Save Jimenez, the whole team wasn't hitting for the first month. That got us off to a not-so-great start. Colon has really been disappointing. He was supposed to be our ace, but he's barely been better than our #4, Jon Garland. Billy Koch, Gary Glover, and Rick White have been very disappointing overall. Our starting pitching has been good, but not good enough to be able to withstand a bullpen with an ERA of around 5. And just bad timing has had a lot to do with it. We've f***ed up a lot when it mattered most, and it has cost us several games that we VERY easily could have won. All of that said, if we win Tuesday, we'll be at .500.
  3. I think he's only walked 1 in his last 2 starts, to go along with 8 strikeouts. Hopefully we don't jinx it, but I have NO problems with Porzio on the hill instead of Danny Walk.
  4. Hmmm...Favre not close, but Elway is? Let's have a looksie... I think it's pretty much agreed that the most important stats for a QB are completion %, yards, TD vs. INT, and QB rating Favre = 60.9%, 42,285 yards, 314 TD (plus 12 rushing TD), 188 INT, 86.7 rating Elway = 56.9%, 51,475 yards, 300 TD (plus 33 rushing TD), 226 INT, 79.9 rating Both have won the big game, so I'd say that Favre is just as good if not better than Elway was.

Fell asleep? WTF? The story in T3 wasn't as good as the story in T2, but IMO the action was better. Oh well, heh.

Supposedly it's just the first in a series of "Pirates..." movies. I hope that's true.

I know I'm about a week late in this, but Pirates of the Caribbean is awesome. Johnny Depp gave an award-worthy performance, IMO, and it was an extremely well done movie.

To cater to that crowd, yes, but I think part of it was "I'll show you that there's more than Britney and Christina", and I've gotta say that out of the 3, I'd take Jewel. Ya, that's what i mean. Britney and Christina sell....so she's following their lead I wasn't very clear on that last post. What I meant to say was that when people thought of hot singers, Jewel never really came to mind. It was always Britney and Christina. Jewel was always hot, she just never dressed like a hooker. I think the lack of "respect" got to her, and perhaps dwindling record sales as well?
  9. Well, I know. I didn't say it was fair...just said that's the way it will probably be. People always remember the great ones who never won a title.

My kid is a kid. And 35 kids ended up dead because they were far too trusting. We live in a world where people snatch children - come give me directions, come want some candy, come your mama told me to pick you up, come you want some grass? We had a very long discussion - and in learning, the visual is often more important than the verbal, or at least important in a supplemental way to reinforce. We discuss everything. He is damn lucky to have someone who talks to and tells him the way of the world. You don't like the way I raise my grandson? That's too bad, isn't it. Ignorance is not bliss. Ignorance kills. And I prefer the way my grandson looks at reality than some other people who I see posting here. I prefer to let someone come to their own conclusions -- not force my views upon them. But, to each his/her own. Teach the kid good values...don't take him to a serial killers' home. BTW, it was "only" 33, not 35.

Problem is that I don't watch MTV so the only time I hear her music is on the radio. And unfortunately, there is no visual support that is DESPERATELY needed.

LOL...today I haven't yet. I got home from work at around 6. Then I went and worked out for about an hour or so, then I made the fatal error of checking the board before I went to sleep. 2 hours later, I was pretty sick of the whole Kobe case, and now I'm listening to some tunes and getting groggier and groggier by the minute. Luckily, I'm off today and tomorrow, so I can afford to stay up.

Her music is unlistenable now. Some of you probably think it was unlistenable before, but I really liked a lot of her songs. I've thought she was hot for a few years now (ever since she sang the national anthem at the ASG in the late 90's and had the biggest cans I remember ever seeing at a baseball game), but this recent "style" change has me bothered. Used to be, I wanted to bang her, then have her sing to me. Now, I just want to bang her. What a sad turn of events.

I don't believe in innocence and naivté, I didn't when I was kid, nor with with my kids, nor with my grandson, who is 8. In fact I took the grandson to John Wayne Gacy's old homesite last week and discussed not letting strangers get close to you is not a trite saying but survival and street smarts. Being cynical can come later, but there is a place where one is aware and street smart without being naivé nor cynical. Unless a kid knows there is dishonest and indeceny out there as well as honesty and decency, there is greater potential for trouble. And we talked about how to tell the difference. And no I didn't go into Gacy details, just generalities, he is too young for that, just be aware, be very aware. And never buy into image or superficialities. Dare i say that i agree with you 100 percent on this one? Well except i doubt id go to that extreme. The whole "don't talk to strangers" thing is passe I guess. Yeah i had to retract a little. I wouldnt take a child to JWG house. Thats a little ummm well a LOT weird. Indeed. A child should not be exposed to anything resembling that.

Nice. What ever happened to letting a kid be a kid?
  18. What a distinction...one I'm sure he would rather not have, but it's probably true.

I thionk you are the most naive person to come down the pike since Elly May Clampett - and she was fictional, so that makes you the champ at naivete. You asked what we thought - there it is. Naive is not necessarily a bad thing at his age. He still has plenty of time to become a jaded, cynical smartass like me. Let him stay naive for a bit longer, let him believe in honesty and decency. Soon enough he will find out that the bridge in brooklyn is not really for sale. I dunno spiff. One of the two people involved is a horrible human being. I dont think him automatically thinking its the girl is a good thing at his age. It is possible that neither is a horrible human being. Kobe is an adulterer, and in some people's opinion, that alone makes him a horrible human being. But, I don't feel that adultery in and of itself makes you horrible. It's entirely possible that they had consensual sex, but the girl fully believes she was raped.
  20. I don't know. There's not much doubt that Dan's numbers are superior, but I'd rank Favre, Bradshaw, Elway, and Montana above him. Afterall, they got to the big dance and won it all. Never winning a SB will probably keep Marino from being considered the greatest QB in history.
  21. Hitting against young pitchers has everything to do with patience. A great majority of pitchers coming up from the minors today do not have very good control, so what the hitters need to do is be very selective at the plate. Remember when Miguel Ascencio made his debut for the Royals and threw 16 (yes, 1-6) consecutive balls before being removed? That's what you need to do. Now, 4 straight 4-pitch walks is something you don't see very often, but what will usually happen after 1 or 2 walks is they'll throw a meat ball right down the pipe, and you can tee off on it. Then he'll be careful with the next guy, and the hitter's got to be patient. It's a whole cycle that, if done properly by the offense, can be brutal for the pitcher.

Just looked at the box office totals, and T3 is officially a bomb IMO. It cost $200M to make, and an additional $40M in advertising. It only made $9.2M this past weekend, and the gross so far is just under $128M. At best, they'll end up at around $150M. That has got to be considered a disappointment. I really liked the movie, too -- guess there's not much interest in it despite how great T2 was. They had it set up for a T4, but if they lose $100M on this movie, T4 will not be happening.

He violated his probation, right? So what's this hearing for? Doesn't he pretty much automatically go back to prison?

I know for an absolute and utter fact that the OJ trial was on ABC every day. I don't know if it was on Court TV, but I'll take your word for it. I remember it being on ABC because my mom was upset because her soap operas were pre-empted, .
