Um, no, I'd do it because if I was Jerry Reinsdorf, I would 1) have the money that I'd want to spend to try and be a winner instead of sit on it and stay a mediocre franchise, and 2) Giles and Kendall would make the Sox a better team. So our payroll would be $60-$65M next year instead of slightly over $52M or whatever it is this year -- big wow. As far as "guaranteeing a playoff run and an increase in ticket sales", there ARE no guarantees in professional sports. But, if the Sox went out and got 2 more all-star caliber players, believe me, the fans would take notice. And if the Sox played up to their standards with the guys they'd have on that team (Colon, Buehrle, Ordonez, Thomas, Konerko, etc, etc), the wins would pile up and so would the ticket sales. And no, Jamie Navarro has nothing to do with this and it's a bad comparison because Navarro was horrible and Giles and Kendall are very solid major league players.

Well, I'm not getting my hopes up, because like all of you pointed out, it's happened too many times this year with this team. If the first 100 games are any indication, we're gonna lose both Toronto games and 2 out of 3 against Tampa Bay. That would put us back around 8 games back, and pretty much end our hopes. But, hopefully their bats will stay hot, and if they do, we're gonna be mighty competitive. That said, I'm not gonna get my hopes up unless we take 4 of our next 5 games. That would be a good sign.

Eh, they're still the 5th best team in the West. If they were in the East, they'd be legitimate contenders for the Finals, but in the West, they're gonna be lucky to get out of the first round.

Joe Mays is having an absolutely horrid season. He pitched 2/3 of an inning tonight, and allowed 5 ER. That brings his season ERA to 6.77! But, looking at his career stats, it would appear he's only really been good 1 year (2001, where he won 17 games and had an ERA of 3.16). Still, he's really having a s***ty year.

Both Steff and cw are right -- she has no say at this point. The charges have been made, and it's now up to the state of CO to procede. She can't drop anything. Although, if she were to come forward and say "I'm making it all up", then that would probably be a different story. I doubt that will happen, though.

We're killing the ball over the past week or 2, and I think that with the summer months just starting, it's going to continue. And I agree with TPW...by the time the season is over, I think we'll have more than just Magglio at .300. I can see Frank going on a major hot streak and getting up there, as well as maybe Alomar.

Well, true, it's not great, per say, but it's pretty damned good. Like you said, a day game in the middle of the week, and to my knowledge, it wasn't a half-price day, was it? If not, 20,000+ is solid.

Does he really have hair plugs? If so, and he shaves them off, wouldn't that mean he would have to have new plugs put in?

Not saying 7 was a lot, but compared to his 1 or 2 that he gets now, it's a lot.
