White Sox interested in SS Ian Desmond
I think I'm beginning to understand why Charlie Brown kept trying to kick that football all those years.

White Sox interested in SS Ian Desmond
QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 09:45 PM) Given how the last month has gone, we will surely see a tweet soon by Nightengale saying Sox won't give up draft pick to sign FA. They're all done. I don't know why it's talking so long to sink in. (I guess hope)

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 08:57 PM) Yep, he's not coming here. Here come the reasons why. "Where would he play?"

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (blackmooncreeping @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 07:32 PM) Why? There are other OF options still on the board. And Desmond as well, if they want another bat that badly which they obviously don't

Infield Defense
It depends on who is hitting and if there is anyone on base.

Albers resigns with White Sox
This move tips the scales in their favor.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
It's gonna be great a few years from now when Abreu and Sale are on the Red Sox and Yankees. (not sure which will be where)

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (Baron @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 02:10 PM) Technically the offseason would be a disappointment. We would still be sitting in the middle. We would still have an outfield that sacrificed about 30 runs last year. You want to let Avi struggle out there fine. Just dont blow smoke and tell me your trying to compete while he's out there dropping baseballs. As it currently stands, you're also looking at less than 45 HR from the outfield combined.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
Did anyone really believe the White Sox would have the biggest one when they're laid on the table?

24/7 Wall Street: Sox 5th largest declining fanbase in sports
If you build it, they will come. On the other hand, if you stick all the profits into your pocket, you reap what you sow.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 08:42 PM) Don't forget "Rick Hahn is the greatest poker player since...." As good as the Lawrie and Frazier deals still look (on paper), it's still curious why you would make those moves if you knew you were limited on the payroll side. Hopefully it wasn't all predicated on being able to move Adam LaRoche (to free up roughly $5-6 million), because that would be a sad state of affairs indeed. All we heard last year was that none of the players we gave up and none of the contracts we signed would have that much of an impact on the overall direction of the franchise. Well, clearly, that was not the case. The Cincinnati Kid? with Lancey Howard yet to be revealed.

Heyman: Justin Upton to the Tigers
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 10:25 PM) So the White Sox are now idiots because the Tigers signed Upton? No, they're very shrewd businessmen. Those that buy tickets, on the other hand...

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 04:44 PM) I wanna go just to hear the unreasonable fan that yells at Hahn for moving Trayce. Reminds me of this Seinfeld scene

Avi Garcia agrees to deal 1yr/2.1m
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 11:23 AM) I'm curious to see how Avi can produce in the the minors this year both offensively and defensively. As of now, he does not belong anywhere near the MLB main roster. He'll be starting in RF for the White Sox on opening day.

2015-2016 NFL Thread
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 11:04 PM) Clean hit on Roethlisberger. I'd have to rewatch Burfict play but simply taking off a helmet isn't a penalty in the NFL. Not true http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/...-injuring-sack/ https://vine.co/v/iMuO9BaxgQT

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 02:19 PM) So you are for not negotiating. Just give them what they want or move along. You must not be married or have a girlfriend. There are so many posts that don't seem to understand even the simplest form of negotiation. Why should Hahn present his best offer if he doesn't have to? Why should he offer 4 years if he may be able to sign him to 3? You might think it mattered a lot in 3 years when the supposed greatest free agent class ever is out there and the Sox are sitting on the sidelines because they had to have Cespedes signed on January 9th instead of January 20th and therefore had to give him another year. If the Sox need to go 4 to get him signed, they might go 4, but until it comes time for him to choose a team, they should keep their offer at something they can sweeten if necessary. Some are fretting the price will come down and there will be more competition, The one thing to worry more about is throw your best offer out there now and teams will have time to better it. Look at Baltimore with Davis. I don't believe they are truly negotiating. They are offering the least with a take it or leave it attitude. It only serves to let the gullible fans believe they tried. When was the last time the White Sox won on an in-demand free agent?

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 01:50 PM) Yeah the Sox should be offering him an enormous contract like all those other teams are. Oh wait... Like I said before, enjoy watching a 4th place team.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 12:14 PM) "Sources told ESPN's Jim Bowden that the 28-year-old Upton has been offered low-ball, short-term offers from both the Chicago White Sox and the Los Angeles Angels." I'm shocked

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 08:22 PM) Why do you post on a White Sox message board? Should we all be connoisseurs of Kool-Aid? Personally, I find it too sweet.

QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 07:51 AM) I could see him learning from the mistake of Robinson Cano. You can make the most money, but it may not be in the best situation. To a lot of folks, most money = best situation.
