Is Marte assured off the ALCS Roster?
I don't mind keeping Marte on to face exactly ONE left hander with the bases empty. If he does the job, great, if he doesn't, yank him. The fatal flaw Ozzie has is leaving him in to face a "stretch" of lefties...even when it includes a righty. To be totally fair, the ump WAS squeezing Marte a bit. Don't get me wrong...I'd love to see him out of here but I honestly think this is what will probably happen

ALCS tickets on sale Thursday
Hey guys, does anyone have any tips in terms of what browser to use, if having more than one window open at once is better than not, if you can call at 11:45am and keep an agent on the phone for 15 minutes until tickets go on sale....etc.

Thomas feels love from fans, Guillen
with the amount of money generated this year in terms of ticket sales, merch sales, increased revenue from playoffs, and increased season ticket sales for next season, they better well bring Konerko back for 5 years/60 and (if he's healthy) Thomas for 1-2 years at 4-5 million per.

One more question about the playoffs
QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 02:49 PM) Who cares! We f***ing clinched. Do we have to go into semantics in the middle of the celebration? When it's MLB.com who has bad info, I get confused. You know, they are the ones who make up the rules....

One more question about the playoffs
QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 02:46 PM) Dude! GO CELEBRATE! Your original quote was wrong. A 1 game playoff for a division crown ONLY comes into play when the loser is out of the playoffs. The only scenario where that can happen is if the loser is runner up to the WC team. The best the Indians can do is 96-66, & the worst the White Sox can do is 96-66. If the NYY go 97-65 they would win the ALE & not the ALWC. Cool. My quote was wrong, so their website is wrong. That's what I thought. Stupid for them to have bad info on their website.

One more question about the playoffs
QUOTE(THEWOOD @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 02:39 PM) from mlb.com "Chicago's victory reduced its magic number to one, clinching a tie for the American League Central title. But even if the Indians were to sweep the three-game set at Jacobs Field this weekend, thus clinching a playoff berth, the White Sox would win the tiebreaker for the AL Central crown with an 11-8 edge in head-to-head play" That was my understanding too. But do you see how one could get confused with the way that it is worded there?

One more question about the playoffs
I'm cool, I'm just making sure that MLB.com worded it wrong.
-
One more question about the playoffs
because the "best records in the AL" clause apparently doesn't matter.

One more question about the playoffs
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) We clinched the division because we have 96 wins. -- Only one of the AL East teams can finish with 96 wins, making them the AL East champion. -- If Cleveland finishes with 96 wins, they our the wild card due to are head-to-head record. I'm tired of writing this... If you don't get it... too bad. Then the way MLB.com worded this is incorrect: Next Monday (Oct. 3), the Indians would host the White Sox unless those two teams finish with the best records in the AL. In that case, there wouldn't be a playoff game.
-
One more question about the playoffs
What I'm saying is that I still don't understand how we clinched the division with the way that the MLB has worded the rules.
-
One more question about the playoffs
From MLB.com: correct me if I'm wrong, but Yanks can finish with 97 wins, so 96-66 and 96-66 for the White Sox and Indians will NOT be the two best records in the AL....
-
AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX DIVISION WINNER!!!!
I had to come back to work so I can't watch the celebration
