  1. Been thinking about this a lot lately. TA after 2018 was roughly only a .260/.290/.410/.700 hitter with inconsistent defense. He had about 2-2.5 wins per season on avg. 2018 itself was weird because almost all of his value came on defense, and he was personally off because of the death of his best friend, and his offense was way off. It all seemed a little aberrational at the time. Maybe I'm crazy, but it seems we stuck with him internally because we had no other immediate SS options. It makes me wonder if Tatis was still in the system, what would have happened. Maybe Tatis would have started 2019 and obviously been the same superstar anywhere, but what would have happened to TA? Would he have been relegated to super sub? Traded? Moved to right field? Relegated to bench player? Languished in AAA? Hindsight may tell us that TA would have eventually stuck somewhere, but I believe WE stuck with him for (very good) intangible reasons, even as many on this board and fans of the team (myself included) were seriously doubting he was a pro caliber player. Personally, I see the silver lining of the Tatis deal as the realization of TA at his natural position and the cementing of him being a team leader. I seriously wonder if he would have had the chance to ascend to superstardom had Tatis not been dealt.
  2. 18 hits! Cease! Hendriks! …NOT a loss! Here’s to NOT collapsing!
  3. Can we please just concede all 3, fly home, save time, hit a big reset button, and get everyone fully rested? I’m so done with this road trip.
  4. Excited for the AAAA White Sox @ Toronto game tonight it’s kind of like a “futures” game, except it’s “pasts” …past prospects…past their prime….
  5. I wouldn't either - I just think that's the absolute outlier of the result, and 89-90 would be the absolute outlier of the white sox result. Which is exactly why I think the division is over.
  6. If they got hot and absolutely everything broke their way I could see them backing into a .600 ball stretch for 40 games. Heck, mediocre teams like the '12 White Sox are capable of playing .600 ball over 40 games.
  7. I could see the Indians winning as many as 84-86 games and the Sox finishing with as few as 89-90. It would be closer than people like to believe it will be, and it will certainly make people sweat. That being said, it will never get to the point of the Sox winning as few as 88 and the Indians winning as many as 88. For the Sox to win only 88 they'd have to go 16-20 in their last 36, and for the Indians to win 88, they'd have to go 27-13 down the stretch, a .675 clip. It's just not realistic given the talent of both teams respectively and the remaining schedules. The division is indeed over.
  8. This year Sox are 61-43 (.586) with him in the lineup and 11-10 (.524) with him out of it. EDIT DID MATHS WRONG
  9. Come on. TA and Robert aren’t just a garden variety “couple of starters”. I think we can all agree sitting Collins for Zevala (or Vice versa) and sitting Cesar for Leury would not even close to the same thing as sitting TA for Mendick and Robert for Goodwin. The problem is amplified by Grandal still being out. You can’t take a team like this and subtract offensive / defensive weapons like TA and Robert and sub in scrub AAAA players and expect close to the same results
  10. All this shit could have been transmitted much more clearly pregame yesterday. If they had said TA was banged up yesterday, nobody would have been outraged. They didn’t say that. They said he had the day off and didn’t really clarify that.
  11. Some guys come back from serious injuries and play every day. I just have not heard anyone on the Sox medical staff say that Robert is, for now, a part time player because of coming back from that injury. Have you?
  12. Exactly. Also Brian Goodwin lately seems to get zero days off despite the fact that sometimes his situational splits suggest he should sit. Also regarding Robert, has anyone on the medical staff weighed in that he needs additional days off here and there? Or is this just armchair bullshit?
  13. Another “planned loss” by TLR no point in watching I guess
  14. I just realized Vaughn’s really low K rate lately. Since June 19, he’s only struck out 28 times in 179 at bats. Is that K rate sustainable?
  15. Sometimes Tony’s little musical chairs with lineups and positions lead directly to losses.
  16. I’m late to the thread but is Anderson out because he “needs a day off” ?
  17. Robert should be starting every game in CF, RHP or LHP. His defense and speed make up for any split differential. Also he’s hot right now. I don’t get this notion that everyone needs to sit once a week. Especially very young players
