  1. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 02:53 PM) You're a funny ass dude Milkman. Thank you, sir.
  2. As long as it's not Ozzie Guillen, the worst manager to ever helm this team, them I'm A-OK with it.
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 02:44 PM) You and I have been saying that since at least June.
  4. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 02:57 PM) Buy a refurbished computer on eBay. I got a real good one for under $200.00. It's not for me. I won't put a red cent towards it, as those people do not even attempt to care for their computers. It'll get destroyed pretty quickly. I've tried dozens of times to teach them very simple things to keep the computer running well, and what not to download, which emails not to open, etc. They don't listen. And they won't put any money towards a new computer until this one is completely dead, and there will be a gap of a few months to a couple of years before they get another.
  5. It's impossible for a manager to both motivate a group of underachieving veterans and teach young players?
  6. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 02:03 PM) How plausible is this hypothetical, Oz wanted out of his contract this year and the club said no. Or some team wanted to talk to him and the club said no? The more I think about it, the more I think Ozzie is managing like someone who wants to be fired. No s***. That has seemed rather obvious for a while.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 02:25 PM) Why do you guys care what some internet poster (me) thinks about Ozzie? You got your way. He's gone. I lose. My favorite Sox manager of all time and one of my favorite players is now Florida's manager. I will not root for Florida; I don't care that much. ozzie is a zillionaire. He will be fine compared to many of us who are not rich. It's very sad that a White Sox through and through like Ozzie never will be welcome back in Chicago again. That's the risk when you hire a former player. Only this one directed the Sox to their only world championship in many many years. Why would my position be in your mind so clearly you'd see the need to post that? It's not like I'm Romney or somebody famous. "Many" is a subjective term, really. The Earth is millions of years old, so 80something years is really not that many when you think about it.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 02:08 PM) That might just be worth it from our end. I'll wait for greg and elrockin's thoughts on this potential swap before I come to a conclusion. It is kinda risky from our point of view. Quentin is a proven winner. You don't just trade guys like that. You get rid of guys like Dunn and Rios.
  9. You might as well have just said that in Mandarin. I know nothing of Linux or how to boot it up.
  10. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 02:14 PM) Sorry...C U next tuesday.
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 01:39 PM) Um, I don't get it? We're poking fun at the Twins when our asses are going to be watching the playoffs from home right along with them. I don't get much solace in the fact they've been a little worse. Then we'll get the patented "What's a Division Title worth when you don't do anything with it?" when the Tigers eventually don't win the World Series.
  12. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 01:33 PM) No you can do it via CD or DVD. alternatively just tell them to get an external HDD so that they can backup any important files (pictures?) then wipe. If I use a CD, won't I still have to install the program to run it? It won't let me install anything because I'm not the administrator.
  13. I was just looking at the leader board for random stats in all of MLB, then I made the mistake of looking at the leader board for just the White Sox. It's depressing.
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 01:27 PM) Am I the only one (had to have been old enough of course) that enjoyed that '93 season more than '05? I can't explain it. Maybe because I was only 10 and it was still a 'kids' game to me at the time. This is when I also knew that the Sox, not the Bulls or Bears, had my heart. The Bulls had just 3-peated a few months earlier and I was nowhere near as elated as I was when the Sox simply took the division. I really thought we were going to take Toronto that year. The way Alvarez/Bere were pitching down the stretch, plus that Frank guy. f***! I get that same feeling, but it was for 2000.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 12:57 PM) I remember it being said before. I'm not positive if it was Guillen or a player, but I know that little second place kicker has been mentioned before as a late motivation. The hot streaks at the end of each season after already being eliminated, in retrospect, make me even angrier.
  16. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 11:58 AM) So we might jettison Peavy to make room for Dylan? We theoretically are 9 deep at SP next year with Buehrle resigned. From the left: Buehrle-Danks-Sale-Santiago From the right: Peavy-Floyd-Stewart-Humber-Axelrod That's why one of Floyd and Danks will be gone next year. Possibly both, though I'd like to keep one of them and go with a six-man and have Axelrod and Santiago in the pen as long relief/spot starters. That is far too many question marks for my liking. Sale will not be able to pitch the entire year, let alone effectively. Wasn't Santiago in A ball fairly recently? Plus he's had like 3 appearances for the big league team. Peavy is going to get hurt again. Stewart has been great or abysmal. Humber, as much as I want to believe in the guy, might just been a ticking time bomb. And Axelrod has one start. We're saying that we have 9 options? That seems rather optimistic to me.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 10:34 AM) It has been said in 2nd place finishes past. I just think no one really was as upset at Ozzie, so it wasn't a big deal. It's not the first time he's said it?
  18. I can't really say anybody, as I've never been a huge follower of the minor leagues (although I still want a good one) or a fan of many individual players. I guess the closest would be Anderson. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 12:34 PM) If Daryl Boston's catch was in NY it would start every high-lite show ever. Link?
  19. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 11:39 AM) She was pretty awful. Overall the show was meh. I'll give it about 2 more episodes to get better. It's a Will Arnett show. It's bound for failure. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 11:55 AM) She's a spoiled, entitled "see you next tuesday." Synt?
  20. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 11:21 AM) I think there's something on that page about making a Linux boot disc. You'd boot to Linux from your CD-ROM instead of loading Windows. Then you run this simple program, choose a new password and you're in. I don't know the first thing about Linux but I remember this being really quick and simple. If that page doesn't have it just google around some more, "linux boot disk windows password" is one of google's predicted searches as you're typing so it should be pretty easy to find. Then I'd have to get a floppy disc, and I haven't seen one of those since high school. I think I'm just going to tell them to wipe the computer anyway. There's nothing but garbage on there anyhow.
  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 09:41 AM) I seem to remember forgetting my admin password on an XP machine years ago and finding a Linux boot ROM online that lets you just change your XP password. This may have been a Windows 2kPro machine, though. google: http://www.petri.co.il/forgot_administrator_password.htm The program seemed promising, as I first installed it on my computer to check it out. The problem is that I can't install a program on my parents' computer because I need be "logged on as an administrator to install the program". So, I'm back to where I started.
  22. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 10:15 AM) Perfect. They've given it their all this year. It just wasn't in the cards. We have to remember that they're people, just like us. They have emotions and feel the sting of failure on a greater level than we ever could. An extra $10,000 is nice and all, but a physical symbol of their effort and heart would really help. I say we all chip in and get them all a nice trophy and/or ribbon each. It's the least we can do after not coming out in full support this season and crushing their already broken souls into smaller pieces with our boos. Hell, if we want to get literal, this is our fault. We owe it to them.
  23. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 09:17 AM) Just play hard the rest of the way and have some pride, dignity and respect for each other and the game. I hope they do They should all get trophies just for playing, too.
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 08:43 AM) I've never seen a story in my lifetime of following baseball where the highlight of an article was the coaches wanting the team to finish 2nd instead of 3rd. Seems kind of ridiculous after hearing the "All In" mantra constantly throughout the season. That's the problem with the White Sox for most of the last decade. Satisfaction with finishing 2nd and/or .500 or slightly above. Seriously, I've never heard anything like this. It's sort of a disgrace that he would come out and say that. Too bad about not winning the division, f*** you fans. But let's make ourselves a little bit more money.
