  1. QUOTE (juddling @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 04:35 AM) No Emmy nods for Sons of Anarchy? Not even one for Katie Segal? Unbelievable She's about the last person I'd nominate, as her character is basically shoved down our throats. And besides, last season deserved no nominations. It was terrible until the final ten minutes. Do F/X shows ever get Emmy nominations anyway-
  2. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 14, 2011 -> 09:43 PM) Watched Road to Perdition today. Forgot how much I loved that movie. Hadn't seen it in a long time. One of my favorites. "I'm glad it's you."
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 14, 2011 -> 12:27 PM) So, you're in the "angry he's unable to pitch" half. Way past angry. I don't care anymore.
  4. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 14, 2011 -> 11:47 AM) Eh, the starting rotation was pretty damn good actually. Garcia was a very good pitcher up until that point and Contreras had clearly turned the proverbial corner. If he had not got injured in 06, he was proving to be just as dominant. The only pitcher that imo pitched in the rotation who was better than he probably should have been was Jon Garland. I believe it was 2007 when Contreras got hurt and ended his hot streak.
  5. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 14, 2011 -> 11:59 AM) Demotivational Posters is EXACTLY that app. Hilarious stuff. Other good apps: Sporcle Word With Friends Cash Cab I love Sporcle with a regular keyboard, but does it translate well to a phone?
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 14, 2011 -> 08:25 AM) I assume the reaction to this will be half people angry about him still being unable to pitch, the same half also saying that they were right about the Sox having overworked him, and then the remainder of the board trying and failing to point out the contradiction? I'm pretty sure the reaction will be to not give a f*** anymore. Team sucks, he's always hurt. Whatever.
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 14, 2011 -> 07:33 AM) I caught the last 3 innings, a few observations that no one will care about: -In that 8th inning, you could see the wheels already coming off on Politte/Cotts. How the hell did the Sox get sub-2.00 ERA seasons out of those two jokers? -Juan. Uribe. I forgot about that great play to end the 8th as well. -I think he had the Tommy John, but Brandon Backe really fell off the radar quickly. I thought he'd be a solid starter for a while, had some great playoff performances. I remember thinking exactly that.
  8. There were some pretty cool ones listed, thanks guys. Any just dumb little apps you know of, too? Something that's worth a laugh once or twice, serves no real purpose?
  9. What are some fun/cool droid apps? Preferably free.
  10. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jul 13, 2011 -> 11:34 AM) Milkman - just one question. Should Gardenhire be fired if the Twins win the division and get swept? Quite possibly, but a lot of that might be contingent on whether or not he has control of the clubhouse. I don't know the more "inside" stuff with that team. I'm sure their expectations are higher than ours after winning so many divisions and always having the same results. It's time for them to take the next step and if they don't, I couldn't fault them for going in another direction.
  11. Greg, I'm tired of arguing with you. It never goes anywhere on either side. We're just two completely different types of fans. Let's just agree to disagree.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 13, 2011 -> 09:18 AM) Go to a game, and sit next to the dugout and call Ozzie a Cuban or Dominican. I bet that would work. Don't tempt me
  13. Let's face it. Peavy is going to be one of those elderly people who breaks their hip in the shower.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 13, 2011 -> 07:45 AM) That would just be the dumbest way to run a franchise I could possibly conceive of. Why? To me, it's get rid of Ozzie at all costs. If firing Cora meant that Ozzie would retire and possibly avoid the s***show you KNOW would be coming if he got canned, I'd do it. OSWALDO DELENDA EST!
  15. I expected this thread to be a couple of pages. Hilarious.
  16. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 05:27 PM) Puhlease. Jackson is mentioned in the article as possibly the best pitcher available. And quite possibly he is. That should be a bargaining chip. Jackson is not a bad pitcher at all. He is actually pretty good and has a lot of upside. Quentin is a player I would not trade at all unless overwhelmed with a great offer. Here is a guy just selected by his peers for the all-star team and some Sox fans on this site do nothing but bash the guy and/or call for him to be traded. You have me confused Guy, I don't know what I can say to you. I just don't believe you are very logical and there's little reason to argue with you.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 05:09 PM) Re-read what he said. No one said Jackson is that highly regarded. He said Jackson is the best pitcher currently available on the market. That's bashing the market more than anything else. There's no Cliff Lee this year. No, I got it. But if he's regarded as the best guy available, we should still be able to pull in something pretty good for him. And then even more if we make Danks available.
  18. I never hated Mark Henry as much as I felt like I should. Plus, I really like his entrance music by Three 6 Mafia.
  19. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 05:11 PM) So Netflix is drastically raising their prices. Huh?
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 02:58 PM) Edwin Jackson is being described as possibly the best starting pitcher on the market. Stop and think about that for a second in terms of what that means Danks would be work on the open market. It's both disappointing (from a wider scope for baseball) and highly arousing to me. If Jackson is that well regarded, we could make a killing.
  21. QUOTE (thedoctor @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 03:55 PM) if the sox had six meaningless titles in nine years, it would be not only meaningful, but dynastic. People apparently just have a problem with me using the term "dynasty". Fine, I didn't realize people would be so annoyed by semantics. The point is that the Twins have had a run of dominance in the AL Central. I apologize for using such an inflammatory word, but the run of dominance can't really be argued. Wait, I'm sure it can and shortly will be...
  22. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 03:49 PM) Milkman, in the "end of Ozzie" thread you just argued that an '11 Sox division title is worthless in and of itself, and yet somehow in this thread Twins division titles are in and of themselves meaningful? You're way oversimplifying it, and I believe you know it. I'm saying that a division title for the Sox this year, which would almost certainly be a result of all of the teams being so bad that one just limps into the playoffs, would not be a sufficient reason to keep Ozzie around as I think he's proven himself to be ineffective and that he has lost the team already. Winning a division title would almost certainly guarantee him job security not only through 2012, but beyond. And let's not kid ourselves (I know, I know...the 2006 Cardinals), but this team will not do anything in the playoffs. I honestly and truly believe that this team is better off without Ozzie, and barely not losing the division at the cost of having to deal with him for another few years is not worth it. And with the Twins, I merely said that they have had a dynastic presence in this division. A playoff appearance (especially in this current division) isn't exactly meaningful, but a whole bunch in a nice cluster is definitely meaningful.
  23. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 02:40 PM) wtf is wrong with people? It's entirely mob mentality. One or two people become irate over the situation (spurred on to a great extent by the media portrayal) and they spread the anger to the people around them and the ignorance of the entire situation and trial. I have no doubt that this person's life is literally in danger.
  24. QUOTE (Cali @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 02:35 PM) The only times I've heard the word dynasty in sports is for winning World Championships I can see the argument against the Twins as I'm just going by the definition of a string of dominance, but that Braves team has to be considered a dynasty in my opinion. 14 straight years is just unbelievable.
  25. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 01:57 PM) If this is true, that's pretty f'n sad. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-20...-fear-life.html f***ing disgusting. That woman holding the sign about the jurors being guilty of murder makes me just wish I could dropkick her in the face. I hate ignorant people. In fact, ignorant people are probably the thing I hate the most, as they are usually willfully ignorant and they always think they're right.
