AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 08:50 AM) It's not as good as it gets. He could have flipped the ball through his legs to Quentin to throw a runner out. Plus, he must've had a chance at it. You know, since he caught it -

QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 02:42 AM) Yep, I miss the characters and the stables.. those two things alone add a huge element to storylines.. now its just like solo guys going by their real names.. there arent really stables, tag teams are completely irrelevant.. I meant s***, look at tag teams back in the day like the smoking gunns, legion of doom, the body donnas, the new age outlaws, demolition, the natural disasters, the steiner brothers, the nasty boys, quebecers, headshrinkers, even teams like the headbangers and men on a mission.. tag teams and stables use to be huge and now they are a thing of the past Remember when the Intercontinental title actually meant something? Yeah, now its worthless.. I think of the Smackdown title as the new version of the Intercontinental championship. It seems as though that's how they also think of it. -
QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 11:22 PM) Because of that, many folks were paying more attention to the Tigers. Sox lost half a game to the Tigers during that same stretch. Haha.

The last good stable that I saw (haven't watched wrestling almost at all for two years) was the King's Court. -
So I don't want to derail the thread congratulating him on the birth of his child (congratulations, by the way), but I have a question for Sqwert. I know you're vegan and I'm pretty sure that your wife is, too. So I imagine you will raise your child vegan. If not, how does that work? And at what point does she get to make the choice between the two?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 08:07 PM) God I hope not. Robin is my all-time favorite player. I'd really hate to have to listen to how much of an idiot he is ad naseum.

Strained right groin for Jake Peavy

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 08:04 PM) Dude, I really hope you don't need baseball to make you feel good. Man, twisting things is easy. And if the play of your team doesn't have an effect on you, then you aren't much of a fan. Who here doesn't have a better mindset when the Sox win? Who doesn't get a little down for the night when they blow a big game? I'm sure Peavy gets upset. But then he probably just ambles over to his computer and notices that he made a quarter of a million dollars last week by just sitting around in a cast. We don't have that luxury. We're fans of the team. He's a guy being paid either way. -
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 06:41 PM) You know something I think they are trying hard. Ozzie is a pretty good manager and he has a pretty decent pitching staff. The team is struggling on the field no doubt, but I think executions of all the usual suspects is a bit crazy. We are all frustrated but I am positive no more frustarted then Ozzie and team. We have managed to keep to within 7 games of Cleveland. We have 100 games left. We can still make the run Good! That's all we can ask for in the end. As long as they try their best and have fun out there, I'll be happy.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 04:32 PM) for some reason I thought he was dead Ditto.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 04:07 PM) Um, they did extend him, in the offseason as I recall (or was that a dream? nightmare?). Ozzie will be in town for another few seasons most likely. And if I had to bet on a candidate for the job in the next few years if Ozzie goes, Ventura is at the top of my list. I believe they picked up his option for 2012. I'm saying that the Sox will probably finish about .500 this season, so the mediocrity will surely lead to a 7-year extension.
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 03:48 PM) Sox fans, meet your next manager. I can only hope. And now this is going to be in the back of my mind, so I'll be even angrier when they don't fire Ozzie and probably just end up extending him.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 03:39 PM) I have mentioned about 3 times now that he should have spoken up. I wish he had. I also agree with ss2k that I'll bet he's pitched through these things before, successfully, and no one has been the wiser. I don't really feel the need to get angry about Jake Peavy. I am sorry if that makes me some sort of idiot. I can promise you if you're frustrated, he's 10 x's as frustrated and just wants to perform and earn his paycheck. Notice I was not in here praising him as some sort of manbeast warriorstud. I'm sure the millions of dollars he'll make while being frustrated at his injuries will comfort him. Unfortunately, I don't have that aspect to cheer me up. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 03:23 PM) Lol. Way to ready into my statement. I am happy he is hurt again? No. Am I going to freak out and demand people get all pissed off about, and question them if they don't? Why? What does that do exactly? That is a whole waste of time and energy IMO. I didn't say anything even close to that. Perhaps you are the one who isn't reading everything. You and iamshack both said that you don't get angry that he tried to pitch through an injury (something I never even said). Northside said that it bothered him, and I said that you and iamshack would disagree with that because that's what you said a few posts before. -

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 03:14 PM) The fact that he will have small injuries this year should not be a surprise to anyone, its to be expected. That doesn't upset me. What does upset me is that he said he had the issue in his previous start, but chose to just push though it... had it even worse in this most recent game, and again, chose to push through it... then proceeded to pitch the game away. He really should have learned by now to speak up when he's hurting, because he just hurts the team worse when he tries to tough it out. I understand the point you and others make. SS2k5 and iamshack seem to have a problem with that reasoning. I personally don't care either way. He's hurt, constantly. That is where my problem is. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 03:00 PM) I'm not going to defend him, but I am not going to get all frothy mouthed about him trying to pitch over this. Listening to pitchers talk, they are always hurting somewhere. If Peavy came out everytime he felt something, he would never make to the mound to start. Should have realized something was wrong and said something? Sure. Do we really need to invoke Godwin's Law here? Good god no. Hell Peavy at 70% is better than Ohman and Bruney at 100%. I get wanting to pitch over it. For the record, I haven't said anything about him pitching through the injury to the detriment of the team. I'm sick and tired of him being injured in general. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 02:49 PM) What does it take to what? Seriously, what would you have us do to him? Be angry that the guy cannot stay healthy. Or at the very least, not act like there's something wrong with anyone who is angry at his inability to pitch 5 games without an ear falling off. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 02:43 PM) apparently it is anything and everything. I was sure there was going to be a post in this exact vein But seriously, what does it take? Does Peavy have to hurt his elbow doing the Nazi salute at a white supremacy rally? -

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 02:29 PM) The guy wasn't even supposed to return to MLB until July in the first place! Step off his neck for god's sake! What the f***, man. This guy has been on the Sox for about two full seasons at this point. It seems like he's pitched about 10 games for us. Why does anyone defend him anymore? What will it take to piss people off? -
This site has been absolutely dead for a few weeks.

QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 03:10 AM) Aren't you used to it by now? I'm not saying we shouldn't be holding players accountable, but our manager has no clue, either. Your manager is supposed to put you in the best position to win (fathom has gone back to this point constantly over the years), and Ozzie continuously fails to do that... because he doesn't know how to make the best decision for so many scenarios. Hell, we saw it as early as 06 with leaving Pods in to play LF/CF in the 9th instead of Anderson... and it resulted in losses. Seems like you and others are saying it's fair to blame the players for failing but not the manager for not picking the correct players/situations. That's silly and I see it going on way to much around here. Also, I'd really appreciate a response on the Erstad/Wise/etc. point. Do you have one? If not, you're basically contradicting yourself with the logic you're using. As said again, earlier... it's so easy to say it's the players' fault for screwing up but never the manager's fault when *insert random player here* shoulda never been out there or *insert player's name here* should have never been pitched to or a variety of other common sense scenarios this man has no clue about. I don't get why so many people here give free passes to the coaches for being clueless; if you're gonna blame the players for their f***-ups, blame management for theirs, too. Why do they get so much leeway? Why the f*** does get free passes by so many of you when he makes decisions someone who knows very little about baseball coulda have made better? But nvm, the response will likely be, "Well, name someone better??? Scioscia? LaRussa? Lolzorz!!!" Haha, exactly. And the reason that he gets a free pass is the World Series. He will have a lifelong pass with many due to that.

I think the term "Jake f***ing Peavy" should be said more tongue-in-cheek than as a compliment to him. It should be similar to how Red Sox fans say "Bucky f***ing Dent". -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 10:04 AM) I remember that Cintron HR like it was yesterday. No lead was safe against us that first half. Seemed like we were coming back from legitimate deficits 2-3 times a week. We were owning every top closer in baseball. I was there for that. And yes, you are correct. The 2006 team in the first half was the most fun team I can ever remember.

Don't worry, though. Since it's not his ankle or lat or whatever the other 2009 injury was, he's not injury prone. It's just unlucky!
