QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 01:22 PM) Mark Kotsay is a useful player when used properly. If we start to see a ton of Lillibridge ABs, I would be surprised. Any player that makes a major league club isn't literally entirely useless. I'm hoping your original response was facetious.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 12:50 PM) Didn't know world series were won during the first week of the season. Either way, our record is solid and our team on paper and on the field looks pretty damn solid to me. THEY'RE NOT?! Gee, thanks for letting me know, mister!
-
QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 01:01 PM) That run he scored in the 9th was kind of useful yesterday. I'm sure Kotsay scored a winning or tying run a few times last year. Good point.

QUOTE (jphat007 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 11:36 AM) Because they need to bring up a pitcher? And if he wouldn't have gone this week, it would've been next week when JP comes up. Or, you know, they could make the right choice and drop Lillibridge. At this point, I'm certain that Ozzie HAS to have a useless player on his roster every year, no matter what.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 11:38 AM) Ok, how about this. The great Twins you love to fellate are -14 in run differential already while the White Sox are +6. You're thinking of J4L.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 11:15 AM) This is the strongest White Sox roster I have seen in a very long time. We are 5 games into the season and haven't played a home game. The team is first in baseball in runs scored and runs per game with 40 and 8.0, respectively. Why on Earth would you have you given up on the roster already? And where are they in pitching? Again, I haven't "given up" based on anything, let alone a single roster move. My faith is just slowly going downhill. Besides, if it's too early to start losing faith in the team, why is it acceptable to dump Milledge after 2 games?

Wow, terrible choice of words, Dunn. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 10:50 AM) Your doom and gloom approach has probably offended him. I know it offends me when we haven't even played a home game yet! Come on, man! Keep the faith. Keeping the faith is basically a Cubs mentality. I need to see the play on the field and the correct decisions made by the front office and managing staff.
-
QUOTE (jphat007 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 10:46 AM) Man I hope that the team doesn't see that you are losing faith in them. They could become sad. Why don't you stick to discussing the team instead of insulting me.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 10:40 AM) I just really don't get this from a baseball perspective. The White Sox of the past 3-4 seasons have historically stunk against left-handers. Lastings had a .926 OPS against them last season, with a near .800 career mark in 500 at bats vs lefties. He was exactly what this team has craved and needed for quite some time off the bench, a lefty killer who can sub in in the outfield and at DH. It's just quite silly to release him in order to keep Brent freaking Lillibridge. OR all-in and sack up and release Teahen's worthless ass. There could be another story behind this, but who knows. All I know is that it's another blow to my already waning faith in the 2011 team.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 10:31 AM) So can we expect anything out of Jeff Gray? Better or worse than Senor Pena? He's probably going to suck. This is based on the facts that he's from our system and that he will now pitch in our bullpen.
-
Wow, talk about giving a guy a chance. I'm sure Humber, Lillibridge, Teahen, and any number of other terrible relievers will get ample opportunities to piss and s*** all over themselves without being DFA'd. Faith dwindling even more.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 07:51 PM) He's been doing it for at least as long as he's been here and with as fragile as he's been, he would've got hurt in this area already if this was a legit concern. Ugh, don't say something like that and tempt fate. -
Always great to get a win, even under such poor circumstances. This pitching really needs to come together and we'll be fine.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 03:15 PM) or silly remarks like... That is based in fact. I'm not completely sure about ture Tigers, but the Twins ALWAYS have a better record against those teams. Silly, my ass. -

QUOTE (WCSox @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 01:58 PM) While I agree that it's about three months too early to give up on the season, Milk's complaint about this team's historical inability to get out of the gate being a problem is a very fair one. And I'll add that this team's historical inability to play competitively in August and September has cost us multiple playoff appearances. So, yeah, there is some justification for "here we go again" impatience right now. Thank you. And just to rub salt into the wound, they manage to score no runs with no outs and men on first and third. Vintage... -

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 12:43 PM) The things that we have seen thus far this year was what cost them last year. Poor Fundamentals Being shut down by bullpens Questionable bullpen work. But instead of discussing this, we should all keep making sarcastic remarks such as: QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 12:32 PM) BUT DUDE WE ARE 0-1 AGAINST THE ROYALS HAVING LOST IN EXTRAS JUST LAST NIGHT. SEASON OVER. or QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 12:37 PM) this.team.is.dead. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 12:19 PM) I'm going to trust the medical professionals that are actually around the scenario that are saying 5-10 days. And considering it was laparoscopic, I'm going to say assuming that it didn't rupture. This just in! Minnesota and Detroit will lose games to Cleveland and Kansas City too! And the Sox still have 15 and 17 games left against those two. There are still 5 months of baseball left after April. I'd be willing to bet that they don't lose as many to them as the Sox do, though. -

QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 11:58 AM) No sh*t!!!! We're not even a week in and people are slitting their wrists already? Although, that said: That does always seem to be the case, doesn't it? But sorry, I don't get out the razors until around the ASB. Yes, always. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 12:03 PM) This just in! While we're playing .500 ball against the eventual 4th and 5th place teams in the Central, we are failing to gain good ground over Detroit and Minnesota. When we start playing good teams we know Detroit and Minnesota will beat up on these same 4th and 5th place teams during that stretch. Games still count in April. It's something people never seem to understand or at least admit. When we end up losing the division by a few games, which we often do, the difference could have been made up early in the season. It's a reason why the Sunday lineups are a terrible idea. It's always "it's just one game" or "every team has a stretch like this" or "every team has an opponent they can't ever seem to beat", but we do it far too often. And again, I can't stand the fact that (and obviously this isn't necessarily the case this season) we always have one aspect of the team that underachieves miserably and likely costs us the division. We'll have a great offense one year, but the pitching will suck. We'll have great starting pitching, but the bullpen will blow. We'll have a great bullpen, but the offense can't score on anything other than a homer. Of course it's too early in the season to say that this will happen again, but it happens so often that even the slightest hint of it makes me wary. All I do know for sure is that this pitching staff needs to get its s*** together. Between the starters and bullpen, they've got to be making somewhere between $70 and $80 million dollars. -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 11:46 AM) wow i figured you would have seen that movie already. I also loved it, I saw it in the theatre Nope, never really even heard of it. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 12:35 PM) You're welcome. And I definitely like it better than Inception. Oh, it was you? My bad, and thanks.

QUOTE (onedude @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 11:26 AM) Wow really?...some people have no patience. There is still 98% of the season left. The sox will more than likely have a stretch or two worse than these last "2 GAMES" It's been more than these two games. They gave up 10 in the opener and the bullpen has been terrible. The only thing that's keeping me off of the ledge is the fact that pitching is down throughout the league. I never jumped off of a ledge. I just said that all of the extra optimism I had is dwindling quickly. It's just looking like every other year where we have either pitching or offense, but neither at the same time. -

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 10:06 AM) Same here. I hate our bullpen and Ozzie. It's just that everything seems to have gone downhill since they went up 14-0 in the first game. I went into the season really expecting something special (for a huge change), now I'm back to thinking this is just going to be another disappointing year. -
I watched Dark City last night. I believe it was on the recommendation of qwerty. It was great and I might have liked it more than Inception. I also saw Bang the Drum Slowly. It was really good, but I enjoyed it less.

Man, I've gradually lost more and more faith in this team and the idea that this is our year everyday since opening day. I know, weird. -
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 4, 2011 -> 02:44 PM) Hafner breaking his bat and flying out to the track made me raise an eyebrow. Is the ball juiced? Or the player.
