I really liked how Dee's costume had more and more feathers on it as each person elaborated on the story. And yes, it was hilarious when it finally culminated in her being an ostrich. Dee is looking hotter and hotter to me as each season/episode goes by.

LET'S MAKE A LIST - OCTOBER '10
QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 29, 2010 -> 06:05 AM) Off the top of my head I agree, although the Invasion of the Body Snatchers remake with Donald Sutherland comes close IMO. Most people also rank The Ring as better than the Japanese original (I don't), although I know that a contemporary American adaptation of an international film is not the same as the modernization of classic films that comprise most of the remakes we're talking about. What I don't get is the shot-for-shot remakes, ala' the Omen remake. Why even bother?? Money. All you really have to do is make a mediocre horror movie and release it near Halloween and you'll make a ton of money.

Scratch that. I'm going as Vijio Morganstein instead.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 28, 2010 -> 11:22 AM) Kazakhstan is more my style when it comes to former Soviet republics. My God, I hate Sqwert. Lord Almighty, everyone knows that Kyrgyzstan is the money -stan. I'd also like everyone to know that I didn't have to look up the spelling.

Halloween Costumes?
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 28, 2010 -> 11:04 AM) Really it was that simple. Everyone who knows me, knows I'm a big Sox fan. Same with my wife. So, we bought some cheap Cubs shirts and hats, and went to a party like that. Aw, I expected it to be much funnier. My costume should work out very well, but I'm being someone that I know, so it's useless to explain it to anyone on Soxtalk.

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Oct 28, 2010 -> 09:40 AM) I did, and I probably am, but we each watch movies with our individual eyes. To each his own, though. Overall I still enjoyed it. Glad you did too.

Halloween Costumes?
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 28, 2010 -> 10:16 AM) I went as a Cubs fan last year. I am now using the Cubs t-shirt as a cleaning rag. Expound? There has to be more to it than that.

QUOTE (IamtheHBOMB @ Oct 28, 2010 -> 05:09 AM) I've heard people complain about subtitles in movies before and I've never understood why it's an issue. Obviously, there are times when subtitles are done badly (flash quickly on and off the screen or are displayed in a way that is difficult to see) - which affects everybody. Do you feel like your attention is divided? iamshack, you should check out the sequel. If you happen to be a Netflix subscriber, "The Girl Who Played With Fire" was just added to the Instant Watch list. I hate when the subtitles are in white but the background of the scene is very bright.

Halloween Costumes?
QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Oct 27, 2010 -> 01:43 PM) It's sad. I don't think we dressed up for school when I was a kid, but we came home, got in our (home-made) costumes and started Trick-or-Treating immediately. One trip through the neighborhood wasn't enough, so we'd go home, eat dinner really fast, bust out the cork, burn it, and use it to become "bums" for costume number 2. Then we'd hit the streets for round 2. Now, my kids' school and our church are doing trunk-or-treating. Pull a bunch of cars into the lot and have the adults pass out candy. Lame. My house is one of two in the neighborhood that have a big Halloween display. A few (maybe 10) others have a few decorations. The rest are dark. It sucks being a kid today. That is gay as hell. It really must suck being a kid today.

LET'S MAKE A LIST - OCTOBER '10
Seeing as I voted 28 Days Later the highest of anyone and it just happened to appear on the list today, it's sort of strange that I had a zombie dream last night. I don't think I've had a dream with zombies ever before.

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 27, 2010 -> 11:57 AM) With the Scarecrow's brief appearance in The Dark Knight, I would bet he has a big part. Since Ras Al Ghul can go from one body to the next, I think it will be him. I believe they even showed Liam Neeson closing his eyes as if to concentrate right before the train he was on crashed. That doesn't mean they won't have two again because, as you said, Scarecrow's brief appearance in the last movie would hint at his return. He just seemed like more of a petty thief in The Dark Knight, though.

R. Soriano, Fielder, Kemp mentioned in connection w/ Sox
QUOTE (3E8 @ Oct 27, 2010 -> 10:32 AM) Unless we move one of our higher paid players in a trade, this isn't really the case. The Sox policy is well-known, put into the team what was gained the previous year. We should expect '11 salary to remain similar to '10 ($103M) after a decline in attendance. I'll fill in the '11 roster as of today with salaries SP - Peavy 16 SP - Buehrle 14 SP - Jackson 8.75 SP - Danks 6.5 (arb estimate) SP - Floyd 5 C - empty 1B - empty 2B - Beckham 0.5 SS - Ramirez 1.225 3B - Morel 0.3 LF - Pierre 5 (after cash from LA) CF - Rios 12.5 RF - empty DH - empty BP - Thornton 3 BP - Santos 0.4 BP - Sale 0.3 BP - Linebrink 5.5 BP - empty BP - emtpy BP - empty BN - Castro 1.2 BN - Teahen 4.75 BN - empty BN - empty 2.25 commitment to Viciedo Total = $87M This leaves us less than $20M to fill starting catcher, 1B, DH, RF, three pen spots, and two bench spots. That's an average of $2M/year per remaining roster spot. If you tender a contract to Quentin, who get $5M in his 2nd-year arbitration raise, then you have less than $15M for 8 remaining spots, or less than $2M/year per remaining roster spot. KW is definitely in a tough spot this offseason given how many roster spots we have to fill and our budget constraints. We do not have plenty of money to spend, we have plenty of spots to fill How very depressing. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 27, 2010 -> 10:17 AM) And he is probably losing assloads of money on two of the three. I'd bet at least $50 million for the last season. He's a billionaire and 81-years-old. I don't think that would even matter to him.

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Oct 27, 2010 -> 11:10 AM) I thought it was decent too. Definitely not great. Matt Damon was very good, as was the beautiful French actress. I didn't much care for the ending. Eh, the ending was pretty good.

R. Soriano, Fielder, Kemp mentioned in connection w/ Sox
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Oct 27, 2010 -> 09:19 AM) Exactly. Illitch will spend as much as his heart desires, he always has. The only question is will his recent purchase of the Pistons affect his spending. I say probably not. He owns the Tigers, Pistons, and Red Wings? Wow, that's crazy.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Oct 27, 2010 -> 07:52 AM) To me it's simple, if we re-sign Konerko, we will be bargain shopping the rest of our need positions. If we lose Konerko, we will get a dabble with some big names, but lose out when we offer half of another team and then be forced to bargain shop. Regardless, we will be bargain shopping, but whether it's be force or choice remains to be seen. I don't feel like we need a huge overhaul as well, but we need about 4-5 solid players to get back to a playoff team. Obviously power at 1st base, two relievers and some two solid bench additions. I agree with everything you said, except I do think we need an overhaul.

2010 Fall TV Thread
QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Oct 27, 2010 -> 09:21 AM) I do not know how to react to SOA right now. It is moving and there is plenty of action but it is getting frustratingly dragged out with the Abel thing. I just want them to get the kid and go after Jimmy...the kid thing is getting tiring. I agree, plus it feels like they're just forcing Gemma down our throats. It's like they're altering the storyline and making it more ridiculous just to work her into the show more and more. This season seems to be about Gemma, and that is just chapping my ass.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 27, 2010 -> 09:05 AM) Link That last line is great. The commercial where the janitor walks into the room and turns the light on and finds Conan just waiting at his desk for November 8 is hilarious.
