  1. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Nov 16, 2010 -> 01:11 PM) DVR! Terriers is a can't miss for me. Well, you could wait until the DVDs come out. That's not the problem. I just don't want to watch that much TV. I like to spend the free time I have (in the home) on movies.
  2. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Nov 13, 2010 -> 05:55 PM) I love this guy. Every article so far that I've read, has been excellent. I agree. I've only recently seen his work, but it's all been great. Google him, though. He does not look like a baseball writer
  3. QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 15, 2010 -> 06:02 PM) I only answered like 2/3 of the questions (people were asking me some pretty freaky s*** that I didn't want to answer) I had dozens of questions. I think it's over now though. It's at the bottom of the news feed on the right. "Edit options" Sweet, didn't know that. Thanks.
  4. QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 15, 2010 -> 06:05 PM) Well "Person of the Year" isn't an award QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 15, 2010 -> 09:34 PM) The title is supposed to be given to the person who had the greatest influence/effect on the world in the year. Of course, they usually ignore that rule any more to give it to someone who's actually politically palatable. And those are some pathetic choices.
  5. FDR, Churchill, Hitler, MLK, LBJ, Kissinger, and now potentially one of these choices. Depressing.
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 15, 2010 -> 02:12 PM) Without this thread, I probably wouldn't have even noticed. Same here. I would've said "who cares?", but apparently a lot of people do. I would like to see them bust out the red striped uniforms a few times a season, though.
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 04:00 PM) For some reason, I would think that Bo Knows Defense just a tad bit better than CQ does That's the first thing that went through my head. The second thing was that the 29-year-old Brad Lidge just happens to be the 2005 Brad Lidge, and that scared the crap out of me.

We used to go down to Tennessee every year (at least every other year) for a while when I was younger. Most of the things we did involved Country music or the University of Tennessee, and I don't think either of those will help you, Shipps. We spent most of our time in Nashville, Knoxville, or the Smoky Mountains. I believe it's quite a drive from Nashville to the mountains, but I would suggest you try it if you have the chance.
  9. Yikes, I have no suggestions. I just know that I won't be bringing my cell phone with me if I travel outside of the US. In fact, I'll probably just continue my life of never leaving the country.
  10. QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 15, 2010 -> 12:14 PM) Robocop supports the Orange? Imagine you have him as a professor?
  11. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 15, 2010 -> 12:00 PM) Your eyes must hurt. I know. I don't watch anywhere near as much TV as that would suggest, but Sundays are just ridiculous. During the week, the only shows I watch religiously are SOA and It's Always Sunny. I refuse to watch Terriers (which I've heard only great things about) just because I don't want to have that many shows I can't miss.
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 15, 2010 -> 11:46 AM) Really? I'm on the brink of 'hiding' you. I thought the same thing, but then I'm not sure how to unhide people for when this Q&A thing is over. Speaking of Peter Weller in the TV thread, I remembered that I saw him on a History Channel thing earlier in the week as I was falling asleep. I forgot to look into it, but just did. I was confused when the show said "Peter Weller, Syracuse University" and this explains it. I had no idea that he was on faculty there.

QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 15, 2010 -> 10:59 AM) I think this season is getting better as it goes. They have 5 more episodes to make it really good. It's just too hard to follow up last season with anything to rival it. In my opinion, they have one more season left in them, and they should try to end it with a bang. I agree with everything you said here. And yes, there is no topping last season. The second that Lithgow signed on, I knew that season would be incredible. When they faded out last night's episode with Peter Weller looking over the pictures he just took of Dexter and Lumen disposing of the bags, I got a chubby. This is going to get extremely interesting.

The Road (film) was pretty good, but it definitely didn't come close to the hype.
  15. QUOTE (daa84 @ Nov 14, 2010 -> 11:28 PM) last 2 or 3 episodes of boardwalk empire have been fantastic IMO All of the shows I watch on Sundays were awesome last night. I'm actually pretty glad that Eastbound & Down is done because it makes the rest of my schedule work so much better. I still watch Fox's two-hour block from 7-9 (I know it's not nearly as good as it used to be, but it's still something I enjoy). I then watch Walking Dead at 9, Dexter at 10, and Boardwalk Empire at 11.
  16. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 13, 2010 -> 10:37 AM) Daniel Tosh show was fantastic. The opening act had me laughing from start to finish, too. The middle guy wasn't very good, though.
  17. Maybe nobody noticed that they skipped Y and Z at the top of this page?
  18. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 12:25 AM) Lightfoot didn't really pull off heavy other than that song. If You Could Read My Mind and Sundown were most definitely kitschy. Really? I think Sundown is a badass song. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 08:05 AM) Of course y'all won't say anything like that as you're downing the Miller Lites at USCF. I won't even drink Miller Lite at Sox games. If I'm on the concourse, I'll go to the Beers of the World stand. If not, MGD is a serviceable replacement.
  19. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Nov 10, 2010 -> 04:36 PM) Go for it. I like the idea, however, of separating out the "what if" threads vs. the news-worthy threads. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I hate opening up a thread only to see: Well, I think this team is looking for some pitching, so we can send them ____ for ____ and stick him in RF. Then, we would free up money to make a play for a big name at 1B. Sign ____ off of the screap heap for middle relief, etc. I just don't care to see so many hypotheticals that have no basis in actual news.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 10, 2010 -> 04:39 PM) Recent enough that Gordon Lightfoot (then others following like Simon Barr Sinister) wrote and performed a famous folk song about it. I have it on my iTunes. I have it, too. I just figured the event happened in the earlier half of the 20th century, which still would've allowed Gordon Lightfoot to write a song about it.
  21. I think we need to separate the threads with actual, relevant news and rumors from those "what do you think/here's what I think we should do" threads. I find the latter to be incredibly useless and annoying.
  22. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 10, 2010 -> 04:15 PM) fjfjff That's the spirit!
  23. Just a couple more posts and this thread will look even more legitimate.
  24. I think I'll be sitting this one out. In a given year, I may drink up to 3 beers.
