Agon, all but gone
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 8, 2010 -> 06:32 PM) That division does kinda suck, though. I'm not fooled at all by the Giants. They won it in '10 and deserve all the credit. But their season screams fluke. Anyone of the 4 teams in that division could realistically win it in '11. And yes, that includes the Diamondbacks. And not because they have Daniel Hudson. There are five teams in that division.

Konerko could end up with one of three, according to Padilla
I still think he ends up on the Red Sox.

QUOTE (T R U @ Nov 8, 2010 -> 02:02 PM) Yeah the Rumble has always been my favorite PPV.. I really miss the old King of the Ring set up, where they had the early rounds on RAW and then the semi finals and finals at the KOTR pay per view.. sigh, those were the good old days.. I don't get why they axed that, it was a good way to boost people into the main event picture.. I would say that's what Money in the Bank is for but the majority of those winners have already made a name.. I miss KOTR and the old Survivor Series format.

Uriah Heep was a pretty great band.

Who killed Kenny?
I'm not even sure I've heard of this guy before, but I've read two things by him today that give me hope that I'll enjoy his articles. I like the jab at the Cubs, too. That confused me a little bit, though.

Sox trying to resign PK and AJ
I think we end up with Carlos Peña or Aubrey Huff. I'd put my money on Peña, though.

Agon, all but gone
I really like how their front office is being very blunt about it, saying they won't even bother offering a contract because they know they won't be anywhere near what he's going to get. I much prefer that to the old White Sox way of "doing everything we could to sign him" by offering a contract nowhere in the realm of a players' market value. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 7, 2010 -> 10:50 PM) After winning 90 games, it might not be in the Padres' best interests to trade him in the off-season. Can you imagine some of the fan reaction? You get a team that choked, but was only 2 games off from a postseason birth with a $40 million payroll. And then you trade your best player away? If the Padres suck next year, they should trade him well before the deadline, but I think they ought to test the waters of 2011 before dumping A-Gon. I think that's their plan.

QUOTE (T R U @ Nov 7, 2010 -> 11:38 AM) Thats awesome, ive always wanted to go to a Rumble.. ive been to 2 Wrestlemanias and No Way Out of Texas It's always been my favorite event. I'm going to be as giddy as a little kid going to this thing, I swear. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 7, 2010 -> 04:30 PM) The fact that Chicago has not had a Rumble is a disgrace. Yeah, and Boston had it a few years ago, too. I'm not complaining because I have a reason to both go to Boston and see the Royal Rumble in person, but you would think that they would spread it around a bit more.

Quietly so no one sees . . .
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 8, 2010 -> 10:52 AM) Really gets old after years of shoveling. Seems to keep one in shape, though. I just can't imagine living somewhere where it's the same all year round. Imagine Christmas with no snow. That just depresses me.

What Song Defines You at this Moment
Feel Like A Number (or maybe Roll Me Away) by Bob Seger. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Nov 7, 2010 -> 12:53 PM) Easy Like Sunday Morning. Faith No More/Commodores. I believe the song's just called Easy.

Quite a lot of snow hate. I like the snow and I don't understand why people don't like all of the various seasons.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 5, 2010 -> 02:09 PM) That's creepy. But seriously I'd meet up at the venue for a beer before the show starts. 11/12 show right? Yeah, I'm gonna be there with a few of my cousins.

AJ's "intangibles"
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 5, 2010 -> 07:36 AM) Hyperbole much? Haha, exactly. I don't think I've seen anyone blowing up Flowers. In fact, it seems that everyone is expecting a very minimal contribution from him. We're all very down on his prospects, at least for next season.

QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Nov 5, 2010 -> 02:36 AM) No offense, man, but that reeks of "separate but equal" doctrines that led to the civil rights movement. ADA laws require reasonable accomodations for public facilities, and it's ridiculous that movie theaters have been able to get away with it for so long. And why should I, and millions of other people with hearing disabilities, be deprived of enjoying a movie just because other people "don't want to see annoying subtitles" on the screen? It's not fair, really. I think seeing handicap parking spaces in parking lots is annoying, but I put up with it anyway. On the flip side, why should people without hearing impairments have to deal with subtitles on the screen? I'm just playing devil's advocate here, but unnecessary subtitles definitely take away from my experience. I've had to sit and watch a TV with subtitles on the screen and I always feel compelled to read them, which I feel is a detriment to my experience.

2010 Fall TV Thread
QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Nov 5, 2010 -> 08:38 AM) I agree that it is a good show but the Gemma and Tara thing are tired storylines....the boss thing interests me. Still a good show but I think it is only good for another season. I'm not sure if you're agreeing with me or not due to the phrasing, but I've been saying that for weeks.

Boardwalk Empire and Dexter have both jumped in front of SOA for me this season. But like someone said, it's on a Tuesday so there's not much else to watch. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 4, 2010 -> 03:36 PM) Yeah, it's on his special "Completely Serious". Tosh is my fav. comedian. Gonna see him this month.

2010 Fall TV Thread
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 4, 2010 -> 09:46 AM) I will say it's time for me to fess up and say that I'm a bit disappointed in this SOA season. It's been entirely enjoyable, of course, but certainly not up to par. So much of it is unbelievable... like Jax could sit next to the man who knows where his kid is and not go ballistic is totally unbelievable. All this bulls*** they are doing in Ireland is just dumb, and for the love of God the Gemma storylines have been unbearable. Add to that the BS going on back in Charming, and it's just a frustrating season. I want to see some good old gun running and porn operations back in Charming with a dose of drug-stopping. And now we have to deal with Tara being abducted, let alone the unbelievable storyline of her boss caring about her after she beat her ass. It's just been a letdown. I still love it, and look forward to it, but it's a letdown this year. I think we agree on all of that (as I already said most of it ), except the part about Jax not losing it with the priest. I don't care how distraught he or anybody is, you wouldn't touch an IRA underboss in his hideout in his home country.

AJ's "intangibles"
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 4, 2010 -> 07:32 AM) If AJ leaves and plays for a team that goes to the postseason, the posters sort of saying get rid of him right now will pull a Uribe and suddenly love him. There is a lot AJ adds to a team. The White Sox bench does not call pitches, so while its ultimately up to the pitcher, the staff has trusted him through the years and that's a big plus. Problems with catchers, no matter what their stature is trouble, see Burnett and Posada. He also is a workhorse. Not having to play your back up catcher 60 games a year is something we haven't seen for a long while. There is a reason they are back up catchers and usually its because they hit like pitchers. I hope they retain him. I just don't see anyone better than him the Sox have a reasonable chance of acquiring. You know that those two things have absolutely nothing to do with one another. You can love a player and still know that it's time for him and the organization to go separate ways. Go back and find the thread where it was mentioned that Uribe was allowed to walk/signed with the Giants. I guarantee you will see quite a few people say that they really liked/loved Juan, but that it was just time for a change. But since you were one of the few who always defended Uribe (and trust me, I defended him quite a bit), you're going to make it seem that everyone wished death upon Juan when he left.

2010-11 MLB Offseason Catch-All
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 4, 2010 -> 07:42 AM) I dont know. He wore down in the 2nd half, his OPS went from .919 to .748. He didn't hit all that much in the postseason either. $9 million would be a large over-pay IMO. I could see him staying in Texas, but maybe for half that amount. Exactly, plus you have to figure they have some extra money to play with since they made it to the World Series. Perhaps they'll sign or trade for a hitter who isn't as much of a risk as Guerrero.

Herald speculates on LaRoche, Buck, Toerralba
QUOTE (3E8 @ Nov 3, 2010 -> 05:40 PM) If you want a platoon in RF, we'd be better off finding a platoon partner for Jones. His fWAR was nearly 2 in a limited role. Better defense and wOBA than Quentin for a fraction of the cost. Is that another new statistic or did you just accidentally hit an extra key?
