  1. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 10:53 PM) Derek "Pastadiving" Jeter is just too good defensively. When I first read that, I thought it said "pasta diving." After reading it again, "past-a-diving" is a perfect nickname for him.
  2. Love that Uribe got to be the hero. Obviously the Giants have a huge advantage at this point, but I think that advantage becomes even bigger because of Lincecum's attitude. He doesn't seem to be a guy who would let the importance of this game get to his head. With his team up 3-1 in the series, I think he goes out there tonight with a very relaxed attitude and just dominates because he knows that he doesn't have to be perfect. And I'd love to see Halladay get rocked. I like the guy and all, but I love to see teams' big acquisitions go down in flames when they're needed the most.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 10:05 PM) There's a bit of a 2003 Cubs vibe with the Rangers. Up 3-1 in the series, and everyone seems too confident they'll win based on who they have pitching in game 6 and/or 7. Ever since they went up 2-1, I've been scared that that blown first game will come back to haunt them. I hope that's not going to happen, though. It looks like they're holding Lee back for game 7. He pitched on Monday, wouldn't you throw him in game 6? I know you want to try to set him up to open up the World Series, but you have to get there first.
  4. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 08:16 PM) For no reason whatsoever I just decided to shave my entire head. I look funny. My halloween costume involves me shaving my head (and I mean with a razor). I am quite certain I will look bad, but hey, it will grow back. That first week is going to be tough, then it should look normal again.
  5. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 12:51 PM) Gently placing the lotion into the basket. Huh? I had no idea Tex was a part-time serial killer.
  6. QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 12:47 PM) Eventually the two knuckleheads I am keeping in from lunch will cave in. For what?
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 11:35 AM) Well, the Sons have paid back said guy by saving his kid or something IIRC. Jimmy O is definitely going down. He went to them, I believe with money, to get rid of the guy who already molested his daughter. He was paying, so it should have been settled at that. Clay got the guy to hold the knife so that his fingerprints would be on it, and used the knife as leverage to get him to do them favors. They're bad guys in the end. That is another reason SOA reminds me of The Sopranos. The main characters of the shows are bad guys, but since you see the story from their point of view, you start to see them as good guys. The writers of both shows do/did a very good job of reminding you every once in a while that these are bad people. An example that I really loved from The Sopranos was when Ralph's son was hospitalized after playing with a bow and arrow. There were many references to Sympathy For The Devil throughout the episode, including Ralph repeating lines from the song in conversation at two separate occasions. It's a reminder that, even though something bad is happening to them, don't have sympathy for these people. They're bad, they made their beds, and now they have to sleep in them.
  8. Shut your mouth when you're talking to me.
  9. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 09:53 AM) Man I don't have a good feeling at all about Peavy going forward. I hope I'm wrong. I really do. Join the club. As soon as he suffered an injury that is rare for pitchers, no matter how well the trainers say he's healing, I started to think that he's never going to be the same pitcher.
  10. I'd be much more interested if they hired Randy Quaid.
  11. Pride And Glory was pretty good, although pretty predictable.
  12. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 09:54 AM) What an exceptional episode of SOA (no surprise). Tig just flat-out rocks. Next week's 90-minute episode looks insanely awesome. Jax is going to beat some ass. It makes me wonder how it's all going to play out with the Irish Sons lying to SAMCRO. My first guess is that they're going to betray Jimmy O (as that is definitely what the priest is trying to do), but you never know. I don't like how they're making Unser out to be the bad guy, though. The guy has legitimately tried to help over and over, but they just keep f***ing him. The rich guy who own's the plane is another guy that SAMCRO f***s at every opportunity (blackmailing him in the first season, getting him to post bail, jumping bail, and now bringing Gemma along to Ireland).
  13. Quietly so no one sees . . . That is the name of this thread.
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 19, 2010 -> 02:33 PM) Ditto And god I love this show right now. I'm like a little kid on Sunday nights waiting for it to come on. Steve is now my favorite character. I don't know how Stevie wouldn't be everyone's favorite character from the beginning.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 19, 2010 -> 12:47 PM) If you were trading for Greinke, which price would you expect to pay...the price for the 2009, best pitcher in baseball guy, or the price for the above average but no where near dominant every year but 2009 guy? If I were the Royals, I'd be asking for the kind of deal the Mariners got for Cliff Lee...a huge, top level prospect guy, which is the value of a recent cy young winner...but Greinke has only been that guy for 1 year, and he wasn't that guy in 2010. Would you give up Beckham, for example, for a guy with a 4.72 ERA in the 2nd half of 2010? It was more of a joke regarding our love of marginal Royals players. He would definitely cost a lot, and we don't need arms in the rotation.
  16. It's good to know they will be a non-factor for a few years.
  17. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Oct 19, 2010 -> 12:50 PM) It was a very predictable "twist" that Eduardo Sanchez was his dad, but I am interested to see where this goes. When the coach showed him the picture of that ambidextrous pitcher, it very much seemed that that pitcher is the coach, but who knows, maybe that was supposed to be Kenny's dad. I'm about 100% sure it was the coach. It looked just like him and he was trying to teach Kenny a lesson that he learned the hard way.
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 19, 2010 -> 10:11 AM) Yankees now cannot win in New York. If the Rangers manage to win tonight, it seems almost impossible that they'd lose the series. Go Texas! Ugh, imagine if they didn't blow that first game. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 19, 2010 -> 11:25 AM) It'll be interesting to see where everyone ends up, because apparently Grienke is on the market too now, which could really affect where Lee gets the best offer. Too bad Kenny won't be able to pull off a trade for a legitimately good Royals player.
  19. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 19, 2010 -> 11:43 AM) Yeah? Well the Jerk Store called and they are runnin outta you! What's it matter? You're their all-time best seller.
  20. QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 19, 2010 -> 09:33 AM) Jersey Shores is yet another reality show I will never watch. Not that I'm some high brow intellect, but it just seems stupid., Kills me how many people watch that show. And then you have to hear them quote it all the time. Everyone watches it "ironically," but it's making those douche bags rich in the process. I hate people for watching it and I never will, like you.
  21. QUOTE (The Gooch @ Oct 19, 2010 -> 01:02 AM) Except that you both bang a lot of dudes!
  22. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 18, 2010 -> 07:32 PM) The hoverboard was NOT real, but you may of been sarcastic. They also thought about using a refridgerator but Speilberg didn't want kids mimicing the movie and getting stuck in em. And again, can't wait for the Blu Ray!!! That was a good call by Spielberg, pretty damn responsible.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 18, 2010 -> 01:51 PM) I'm torn on that one. Clearly they'd benefit from a new city, but they'd also benefit from a new ballpark in that city. OTOH, neither of those seem to be happening any time in the near future, since it's not exactly a good time for cities to be off bidding for franchises. I really don't think that's the case. I'm not sure of the exact numbers, but I'm fairly confident that their attendance is abysmal. Great teams like the Rays should be able to draw a pretty good crowd no matter how bad their stadium is. I don't think those fans will just show up in droves (throughout the season, at least) just because of a new stadium.
  24. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 18, 2010 -> 12:12 PM) Just to clarify something here, because of the way its being stated... Jerry Reinsdorf is not the owner of the Sox. He's AN owner, and not even the largest one at that. He's a stakeholder, who also happens to have taken on the role of spokesman for said ownership. This brings up a question I've wondered about before. This conglomerate ownership, is it something that is rare or normal in baseball? When owners of other teams are discussed, it usually seems like a single person (or family) is the owner.
