  1. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 09:30 AM) I thought last week was amazing, but the other three episodes this season have been sub-par Same way I feel. The boat episode was really good, but the rest have sucked. I'm used to them starting off slowly, but then they come on strong. So I was expecting this last episode to continue the trend of getting better, while it was again bad.
  2. QUOTE (qwerty @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 05:20 AM) http://www.wlsam.com/Article.asp?id=1978867&spid= I thought the story was going to end with her looking at the tattoo in a mirror or upside down, causing her to think it was backwards when it wasn't.
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 09:24 AM) I don't know what it is exactly. Maybe I'm just tired of the same old formula. That could be it. The show was at its best when Charlie was the only major idiot (with Mac being thrown in there once in a while). Now it's just like watching 5 Charlies.
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 09:19 AM) You are not alone. I get the same feeling as when I started noticing The Simpsons going downhill. I can still watch the episodes, but I'm only laughing once or twice each time.
  5. I don't know. Am I the only one who has been disappointed with almost all of the Always Sunny episodes so far?
  6. You ever go to sleep earlier than normal, and wake up feeling more tired than you usually do?
  7. Hey casual fans who we want to attract next season, look at us! We're making a offer [nowhere near enough to actually land him, and we know it] to Carl Crawford! Come watch us. -White Sox QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 05:54 PM) Yeah, I know but maybe this is that one player the team goes all in on. Konerko off the books helps. They could offer $10M+ per season possibly. Crawford is known to be the player Kenny covets more than anybody in MLB... We'll land Crawford in 12 years.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 05:08 PM) Again, I don't care what the Twins do in the playoffs. And I never said I wanted to emulate them. I've said repeatedly that the Phillies are the team I want to emulate because they're outstanding and I feel getting to their level is realistic, unlike the Yankees because they play by a totally different set of rules.
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 10:56 AM) Why do we have to emulate the Twins? How about Philly? Can we emulate Philly? Yeah, where is this written? Just because the Twins are the team that humiliate us on a regular basis, we don't have to emulate them. We just have to emulate a team that wins. It's almost a straw man argument. We get it thrown in our faces that the Twins can't win anything in the postseason, but we're really just upset that we can't beat them in the regular season. The postseason has nothing to do with the argument. They prevent us from winning in the regular season, and that's the main point.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 08:16 AM) I'm so sick of this. Every year it's the same story. One team we can't beat. Every time we're up in the game, and then either our starting pitching craps out or our bullpen craps out. Did we even win a game against them last year? They get so demoralized, and then all they can talk about is how great the other team is. I swear, things are never going to change until there's some accountability. Gardenhire should be fired yesterday. Wait, which board am I on? I saw where you were going immediately with this. Still though, you think there's no difference between continually making the playoffs and missing the playoffs the vast majority of the time? (Cue World Series rebuttal) That was five years ago, and they haven't come close to repeating it since. They win one title, and since everyone is used to never being competitive, every non-player has job security for life.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 6, 2010 -> 02:44 PM) Like in 2008 where he was the only guy pitching reliably well down the stretch. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 6, 2010 -> 02:48 PM) Floyd's final 16 starts of 2008 - 7-4, 4.53 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, 6.7 K/9, 2.4 K/BB He won some games, but that was because he was bailed out by the offense, not because he was pitching particularly well. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 6, 2010 -> 02:58 PM) Month-by-month ERAs for Floyd in 2008: April: 3.16 May: 3.27 June: 3.86 July: 3.34 August: 4.29 September: 4.81 LOL
  12. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Oct 6, 2010 -> 11:48 AM) Touche, I used the google translator We've managed to use three different languages in a baseball playoff discussion. Bravo! Make that four.
  13. So long as it's not the Yankees or Phillies.
  14. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Oct 6, 2010 -> 11:36 AM) el bateador designado, que? no habla espanol ? Ha, I just googled what it would be in Spanish, and it says GD (not BD). I have years of Spanish experience, but that has never come up.
  15. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Oct 6, 2010 -> 11:05 AM) I did include Paranormal Activity, but not The Blair Witch Project. I thought Paranormal was a much better movie than Blair Witch. Things that go bump in the night scare me more than monsters and the like, and I thought they did a good job with Paranormal. I think I may have forgotten some other films, though. I'm sure I'll kick myself when the countdown comes out. The scariest program I ever saw was actually one of those Haunting shows on like TLC or something. It was back in my Senior year of high school, so either 2002 or 2003. I can't recall the name of it and there are so many of those now that I can't find exactly which one it was, but I believe it was A Haunting In Connecticut. It was a school night and I couldn't get to sleep, so I was just watching TV in my room. It was honestly the one time I can actually remember being too scared to get out of bed to pee or get something to drink. The funny thing is that another guy I ate lunch with mentioned the next day that the same thing happened to him.
  16. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 6, 2010 -> 11:01 AM) If you're struggling to make a list just google 'top horror films' or 'best horror films' to see long lists of horror films. Going through a list may jog your memory. I did, and that's how I almost added Blair Witch. There were like 21 on my list, so I used a couple of those online lists to figure out how to fill in the rest of mine. I believe The Thing was ultimately one of the movies to knock it off of the list. OH s*** I FORGOT IT!
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 6, 2010 -> 10:54 AM) If anyone voted Blair Witch or Paranormal Activity I may consider putting them on ignore. I've never even seen Paranormal Activity, but I came kind of close to adding The Blair Witch Project. That was only because I'm not a big horror fan, so I was scratching the bottom of the barrel to come up with a list of 25. I was just adding horror movies that I had seen and remembered towards the end. I decided against adding it only because I remember how disappointed I was in it.
  18. Obvious choice for "Animal you would think is fake" if you never heard of it before.
  19. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Oct 6, 2010 -> 10:14 AM) Andrus SS, Young 3B, Hamilton CF, Guerrero BD, Cruz RF, Kinsler 2B, Francoeur LF, Cantú 1B, Molina C vs. Bartlett SS, Upton CF, Crawford LF, Longoria 3B, Pena 1B, Baldelli DH, Zobrist RF, Shoppach C, Rodriguez 2B Is this just a mistake or another acronym that I don't understand?
  20. I know it's ridiculous, but I've had this feeling that there will be actual contact with an alien world some time soon.
  21. Ugh, I was really hoping for some good discussion. Since I last checked the forum about 12 hours ago, there have been about 8 new posts. Depressing time of the sports year.
  22. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 5, 2010 -> 03:52 PM) I'll go with both, 300 being the more sucky. I can see why a lot of people don't like 300, but at least it provided you with some mindless action. Superman Returns was simply unbearable. During my Junior year of college, I downloaded it off of one of those DC++ programs and it came in two parts. Once the first part ended, I didn't even have it in me to start the second half. It's been four years and I still haven't even considered finishing it. THAT'S how bad Superman Returns is.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 5, 2010 -> 01:26 PM) And there's the problem. You can't hold the people who actually personally did the failing accountable. You can't release D1 and Floyd as punishment for the fact that the Twins murder them regularly with the bats. You can't dump Matt Thornton the day after the Thome HR. You can only blame Ozzie for decisions that indirectly affected the games, like having Floyd and Danks face them. It's not deck chairs shuffling on the titanic...but I think you get the point. You want accountability, but it's impossible to hold the people who actually directly did the failing accountable. So don't have any repercussions at all? Read my analogy about the office from earlier. I don't care how unfair it may seem. If you are in charge of a group of people who CONTINUALLY underperform, you're the one whose ass is (and should be) on the line. I've had this argument before, concerning Ozzie specifically. The other person argued that you can't blame Ozzie if he can't get through to the players. THAT'S HIS JOB. You can blame him.
