  1. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 01:40 PM) Losing Quentin and Konerko and replacing them with Crawford does not sound like a good idea. I love the people that say the White Sox are cheap yet they can have a $100M while being cheap. Do they want Crawford, I am sure they do. Will they overpay to get him, no. Will Sox fans be pissed that they did not overpay, yes. I am really glad they did not sign Hunter, Fukodome and Alphonso Soriano, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt. I'd like to know where the White Sox stand in comparison to the rest of the league in terms of payroll (the amount they're paying, not including money that's being covered by other teams). I have a feeling they're closer to the middle of the pack than the top. I'm not saying they're cheap exactly, but I don't think they spend an especially high amount. $100 million sounds like a ton, but I'm starting to think that quite a few other teams are in that range.
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 12:29 PM) Has it occured to anyone, through all the anger, that PART of the reason we fall short on free agents is that the team is willing to pay what they see as the value of the player, and not overpay? That its an organizational philosophy? Because I find that much more likely than the idea that they do it for publicity. This team has been upper echelon in payroll for 5 seasons in a row now, its not like they don't spend money, so it seems silly to try to "fake" interest in signing people. People here seem to be letting their frustrations with the results of 2010 color their judgment. The whole publicity stunt thing just doesn't make sense. If they're smart enough to know not to overpay, then they're smart enough to know that you can't get the stud free agents by offering a "fair" contract. You overpay to get these guys. That's how you get them.
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 11:38 AM) With regard to Ozzie, I don't think he's ever been on the hot seat. It was a matter of whether he wanted to stay or not. Williams said to the media that his job was there if he wanted it, but that he could leave too, and they would just hire someone else. Which is what I said. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 11:38 AM) Honestly I don't see it as being any different as when the same people repeat that over and over and over about whoever they hate in the Sox organization. There's a difference in bringing it up in threads discussing the topic or even in PHT, and bringing it up in the Diamond Club. One's part of a discussion, the other is an attempt at baiting. I now know that he was joking, though.
  4. What the hell is that from?
  5. In a pig's eye!
  6. Go to Hell!
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 10:51 AM) It was partly a weak attempt at humor, but they can be comparable situations. The Sox keep getting beat by the same team in their division, while every one in charge keeps their jobs. The Twins are repeatedly unable to win a single game in the postseason, yet there is not talk about Gardy being on the hot seat. At some point, you have to look at him and say, yeah the division titles are great, but the ass-kickings in the playoffs have to stop. To be fair, there's never any talk of Ozzie being on the hot seat either. It's always just fan speculation (for both teams, I'd imagine). I also wouldn't be surprised to see Gardenhire let go this year or in the next few years if this keeps up. You are right that there needs to a point where enough is enough.
  8. D'oh, didn't notice which thread this was. I love jalapeños and anything spicy, but candied jalapeños sound disgusting.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 06:52 AM) If they acquired Crawford, and I believe that is a gigantic longshot, the Sox have not given another team's FA more than $20 million total in 14 years, I think he would play LF, Pierre CF and Rios RF, assuming that didn't mean the end of Alex Rios with the White Sox. Oney hinted in his tweets the White Sox may get what he termed a "real" CF. I thought Rios was fine, but apparently Ozzie projects him more as a RF. AAAAHHHHHH!!!! The stupidity in that comment is ridiculous. I wish nothing but the worst on all of the Guillens.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 08:23 PM) I can't believe Ozzie melted down in a playoff game to the point that he got himself kicked out of the game! How pathetic is that! This seems unnecessary and an obvious way to get a rise out of people.
  11. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 12:34 AM) Yep, he just wins. Except in the playoffs. Viva La Twins - Greatest Baseball franchise in the worrrrrrrld Against the Sox, yes he does. I don't understand what you're getting off on. This must be how Cubs fans feel when they don't make the playoffs and the Sox do. Just hope for them to lose and be happy you're not the only loser.
  12. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 09:29 PM) THIS IS A DIFFERENT TWINS TEAM THIS YEAR!!!!!!!!!! Remember how many of you said that? No it's not, same old s***, same old team. Let's remember that the next time we're all over the Twins nuts for being the greatest franchise in the history of sports. Should we also remember it when they take the division again next year?
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 08:02 PM) 1908 Cubs Cubs fans Jim Thome World Series Jinx Twins should have known better. I might just be really tired, but what's the correlation?
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 06:44 AM) No f***ing accountability!!!!! Why do people do this? Do you actually think the Sox show accountability? Just baiting?
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 09:13 PM) Anyone hear about this Roberto Alomar accusation? That's an old story. Or I have psychic visions without even realizing it.

More specifically, can you sing and sound like any actual singers? I noticed the other day that one of my friends does a spot-on Jay-Z, while another guy I know does a pretty good Johnny Cash. I can do a really good Bob Seger, and occasionally Elvis if my voice is right. Anyone else?
  17. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 09:30 AM) I thought last week was amazing, but the other three episodes this season have been sub-par Same way I feel. The boat episode was really good, but the rest have sucked. I'm used to them starting off slowly, but then they come on strong. So I was expecting this last episode to continue the trend of getting better, while it was again bad.
  18. QUOTE (qwerty @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 05:20 AM) http://www.wlsam.com/Article.asp?id=1978867&spid= I thought the story was going to end with her looking at the tattoo in a mirror or upside down, causing her to think it was backwards when it wasn't.
  19. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 09:24 AM) I don't know what it is exactly. Maybe I'm just tired of the same old formula. That could be it. The show was at its best when Charlie was the only major idiot (with Mac being thrown in there once in a while). Now it's just like watching 5 Charlies.
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 09:19 AM) You are not alone. I get the same feeling as when I started noticing The Simpsons going downhill. I can still watch the episodes, but I'm only laughing once or twice each time.
  21. I don't know. Am I the only one who has been disappointed with almost all of the Always Sunny episodes so far?
  22. You ever go to sleep earlier than normal, and wake up feeling more tired than you usually do?
  23. Hey casual fans who we want to attract next season, look at us! We're making a offer [nowhere near enough to actually land him, and we know it] to Carl Crawford! Come watch us. -White Sox QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 05:54 PM) Yeah, I know but maybe this is that one player the team goes all in on. Konerko off the books helps. They could offer $10M+ per season possibly. Crawford is known to be the player Kenny covets more than anybody in MLB... We'll land Crawford in 12 years.
  24. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 05:08 PM) Again, I don't care what the Twins do in the playoffs. And I never said I wanted to emulate them. I've said repeatedly that the Phillies are the team I want to emulate because they're outstanding and I feel getting to their level is realistic, unlike the Yankees because they play by a totally different set of rules.
  25. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 10:56 AM) Why do we have to emulate the Twins? How about Philly? Can we emulate Philly? Yeah, where is this written? Just because the Twins are the team that humiliate us on a regular basis, we don't have to emulate them. We just have to emulate a team that wins. It's almost a straw man argument. We get it thrown in our faces that the Twins can't win anything in the postseason, but we're really just upset that we can't beat them in the regular season. The postseason has nothing to do with the argument. They prevent us from winning in the regular season, and that's the main point.
