  1. Haha, I'll have to sit this one out, too. I don't listen to (and don't like the vast majority of) new music. I also can't recall the last time I bought or listened to an entire album by anyone. Of the roughly 7,000 songs I have on my iPod, probably 6,800 were released during the 1990's or earlier.
  2. Oh wow, there are so many good choices on here. I personally would like to beat up many of the names already mentioned, although the Pope certainly wouldn't be one of them. The people I hate the most in the world are spoiled rich kids, so that is likely who I'd target. Somebody like Oney Guillen, Kim Jong-un, or any number of "socialites" (Paris Hilton and her ilk) would suffice.
  3. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 3, 2011 -> 11:48 AM) I thought he was way older than 64. I really liked him in just about everything he was in. This sucks. I really like that guy. That being said, he did look pretty sickly in The Town.
  4. Hmm, that sounds like a Twins schedule to me. I like it.
  5. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Dec 31, 2010 -> 03:12 PM) Runners on 1st and 2nd. 0 outs. Runners stealing on the pitch as batter hits a pop-up in the infield. Infield fly is called, batter is out. Trail runner crosses over 2nd base and continues to run, while the lead runner had stopped on the fly ball and started to run back. Trail runner then passes the lead runner on the bases, making him automatically out, and then the popup hits the other runner in the head, making that runner out as well. I am quite positive it's never happened, but somebody please tell me it has.
  6. QUOTE (R.J. @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 10:26 PM) Even if Jake is ready by mid-April, this team needs an insurance policy/6th starter. It can be someone cheap, but if he experiences a huge dip in velocity (and effectiveness) or if one of our starters is hurt this season, I'd like to have someone to cover those innings. In no way is a 6th starter a priority for this team, but we should definitely look to snap up someone who's being undervalued. What is your avatar? I've wondered this many times, but never actually asked.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 01:06 PM) So my "to see" list right now is: True Grit The Fighter Blue Valentine The King's Speech That movie was great. Colin Firth is pretty much a shoo-in for Best Actor, in my opinion. Firth, Geoffrey Rush, and Helena Bonham Carter are almost assured of nominations.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 11:05 PM) BTW, who was complaining the other day about nothing to talk about? That would be me. Hey, at least this is something, no matter how trivial.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 03:55 PM) I think KW gets mad because the organization covers for some of these athletes so much, and then they act like they never did anything wrong on/off the field when they were here and publically question the organization's decision making. And they likely say these things while fully aware of their immunity.
  10. LOLOLOLOLOLOL I don't care if ____ is the worst reliever in baseball, we need him in there with the bases loaded in the 9th!

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 11:54 AM) Going to the movies tonight or tomorrow: Black Swan or True Grit? To add onto what Sqwert already said, I'd see True Grit because it probably plays better in a theater.
  12. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 11:55 AM) New Belgium's 1554 is insanely good. I personally gave it a 3.9/5 on Rate Beer. It's so easy to drink and has fantastic flavors. Bittersweet chocolate and coffee. Spotted Cow is one of my favorites. I think one reason why I like it so much is that it's only available in Wisconsin. So, I don't spoil it by drinking it all the time. I'm in Wisconsin 4 or 5 times a year, mainly for my daughters' Irish Dancing, so I'll drink it on tap up there and take home a 12-pack. I'm counting down the days until I can partake...only 2 weeks from Friday. If it's insanely good, why only a 3.9/5?
  13. I'm still going to be there. Did you get my RSVP?
  14. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 09:42 AM) I don't believe it either way. There is no way to change team allegiance on a whim, even if you want too because of how much you grow to hate loving them...they're still your team. You didn't choose your team, your team chose you. While they'll never admit it, deep down, they're secretly hoping success for their former team and the day they make it to the world series, the truth will come out. It may be a few decades down the road, but yes, it will come out. I actually gave the Cubs a chance back in high school. I figured that we live in one of two cities in the country with two baseball teams. My love for the Sox was already there, so why not double that experience. There was about a month-long period where I honestly tried to watch as many Cubs games as possible to try to root for them. But time after time, they would choke and a smile would creep across my face. I just didn't have it in me to root for them because I got so much pleasure out of watching them lose.
  15. QUOTE (3E8 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 11:35 AM) You're a terrible list idea.
  16. Ugh, we are certainly in a lull. I don't think I've visited the site in days, and there's barely anything new to read.
  17. I gotta be honest. This was just a terrible list idea. We probably could've done 2 or 3 other lists in the time it's taken for this one.

Well, I had some doubts, but the updated version of True Grit was better than the original.
  19. QUOTE (3E8 @ Dec 21, 2010 -> 04:20 PM) I think he's just giving me a hard time cause I can be overly SABR at times. That's not even why. It was just an easy joke, so I took the bait. Glad I ignited some discussion though
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 21, 2010 -> 02:55 PM) Magglio would be my first, going by how big he got, the strange injuries, and Ozzie's statments when he left. I should have clarified that I meant the 2005 team.

QUOTE (qwerty @ Dec 22, 2010 -> 01:25 AM) When he portrays real life people i tend to find him at his best in a way... up to this point oldman has portrayed joe orton, lee harvey oswald, sid vicious, ludwig van beethoven. Beethoven being his finest in my opinion. It's one thing to portray a random fictional character, but it's something entirely else to become one with who you are imitating. Nevertheless, that is another subject in it's own right. Some of his non biopics that i am fond of would be the following... Jackie flannery... state of grace. Stansfield in léon. Drexl spivey... true romance, only one scene, yet memorable. Mason verger... hannibal Rosencrantz & guildenstern are dead... i seriously love that opening scene kalapse. Interstate 60 as i just stated earlier. Beat the devil... and he just so happens to be the devil. Beat the devil is just a short for those who care. Though talk about a weird little cast? =============================================================================== Dracula as dracula... and he/the movie have been bagged on for a reason beyond me. Apparently no one remembers any of the hammer film productions dracula films. Even the great christopher lee had some less than memorable appearances as dracula. Trust me, this is me being nice. If i had to put in order the best portrayals of dracula it would be lugosi's 1931 dracula, christopher lee's 1958 horror of dracula, and then oldman's 1992 dracula. The funny thing is though, wizard magazine does not agree. They believe the best depiction is from the monster squad. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093560/trivia?tr0965917 ============================================================================== Dislike? I hate his zorg. Just look at the silly bastard. I feel like caulfield, no real tangents, but i just feel dirty for some reason. A couple of things: -He was great in his little role in True Romance -I agree about his Dracula role -Even though the movie is only great because of how over-the-top it is, he's great in Air Force One -Holy s***, I didn't even realize that was him in Hannibal

QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 21, 2010 -> 11:11 PM) It's hard to believe that he's never once gotten an Academy Award nomination. I like him a lot, but I don't think the Academy takes him too seriously.
  23. QUOTE (3E8 @ Dec 21, 2010 -> 01:05 PM) I'd like to see an extension offered to Jackson. He has electric stuff, good mechanics, has proven to be durable, and will be entering his prime. Under Cooper, Jackson is probably a 3-4 win pitcher annually. We could get significant surplus value out of him if he would be open to inking a 3-year extension. Well, that's just terrible.
  24. QUOTE (3E8 @ Dec 21, 2010 -> 12:24 PM) DR is just defensive runs above replacement (which is negative for bad fielders like Quentin) used in the WAR calculation. DR and UZR are the same number. Thank you.
  25. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 20, 2010 -> 05:47 PM) Nice work. And lol at CQ's UZR and DR projections. What's sad is that would be a substantial improvement over the debacle that was his 2010 defense. Damn it, it's like there's a new stat everyday that I've never heard of. What is DR?
