  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 20, 2011 -> 08:28 AM) You would have to be thrilled with those numbers. I find them very optimistic. This.

I've had a feeling for a while that he would be ready for opening day (perhaps very early in the season). I feel like the organization has been hinting at it through Cooper and the fact that they haven't gone after another 5th starter like Freddy or someone similar.
  3. NO THIS MOVIE WILL SUCK NO MATTER WHAT BECAUSE OF CATWOMAN! QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jan 19, 2011 -> 05:03 PM) He certainly showed he was capable of it with his role in Bronson. Did you like Bronson? I wasn't a big fan, but it was ok. EDIT: Stupid android.
  4. Should we spread a petition around the site and make this official?
  5. I move for a rule change on this site. I believe the nickname TCQ should be banned entirely.
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 19, 2011 -> 07:59 AM) Sweet. If the s*** finally hits the fan with all of Lance's steroid use, I'd be the happiest person this side of Boers & Bernstein. I beg to differ. I would be.
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 19, 2011 -> 10:36 AM) That is understandable. It's difficult to live life looking so ridiculously handsome. I hear that!
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 19, 2011 -> 10:21 AM) I thoroughly disliked Lars and the Real Girl. I know this has been beaten into the ground, but I thoroughly dislike your face.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 19, 2011 -> 09:12 AM) Link to a solid piece The numbers given here are generally consistent with estimates published in peer-reviewed literature as well. Very interesting article. And it says that the birds in Arkansas most likely died because they ran into something, but I wonder what that could be. Perhaps it's like the movie Signs when they show a bird on the news fly into an invisible UFO?!
  10. QUOTE (The Bones @ Jan 19, 2011 -> 12:38 AM) Blue Valentine is now my favorite film from 2010. Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams are incredible. I think it's a movie that you'll either love or hate, because it's pretty intense. Consider yourself warned. On a lighter note, Easy A was surprisingly funny. I think I'm developing a man-crush on Ryan Gosling. I've liked every movie I've seen him in. And yes, Easy A wasn't bad.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 18, 2011 -> 01:18 PM) You write that a lot. I'm not sure what we are supposed to do with that info. Ignore it? Not be a jerk about it? I dunno, I'm just stating my stance on current music. EDIT: Just looked, and I have one other post mentioning that topic. Not sure what you're getting at.
  12. Yikes, talking about contracts in the $300 million range. I wonder how long it will be before someone signs a billion dollar contract.
  13. I don't think I know a single song from any of those CD's.
  14. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jan 16, 2011 -> 03:37 AM) I thought it was pretty awesome. Obviously not going to be as "smart" as Daily Show and Colbert Report, but I really enjoyed it. Only thing I found not funny was the retired NFL stars escaping. That was a little overdone, but the NBA rule changes, Shaq having heart attack, Meth olympics, Pujols keys to city, and everything else was really funny in my opinion. Maybe I'm the only one, but I've been a huge fan of The Onion and their website for years now. Their most recent "strong side/weak side" on Cam Newton was amazing. http://www.onionsportsnetwork.com/articles/cam-newton,18754/ Haha, you're definitely not.
  15. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jan 15, 2011 -> 02:09 PM) Why didn't he show up in 2009? I didn't say every contract year. That's why he had to make up for it with last year.
  16. QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Jan 15, 2011 -> 03:35 AM) Or he'll literally have a White Sox number when we inevitably trade for him. Nicely done
  17. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 15, 2011 -> 12:07 PM) That doesn't substantiate your claims one bit. Secondly, what does this have to do with anything? Dunn and Konerko have seen their values rise and fall as well. If anything, Konerko's pattern is almost the same as Beltre's. I'm not sure what this point proves? Are you saying that because Seattle had a difficult time trading Beltre in the past, in a different home ballpark, in a different market, with different data being used to set a player's value, and that, therefore, must mean that he will be untradeable in the future with his new contract, well, you just know better than that. I would love to sit here and argue about things neither of us can prove, but I have to run. I'll be happy to pick it up at another time though. Beltre is like the poster boy for the player who shows up in his contract year and takes the rest of the time off.
  18. QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 15, 2011 -> 06:38 AM) What I was going to say is . . . ^^^ Glad I kept reading instead of hitting reply and basically writing the same thing. I believe the HoF should recognize a person's entire contribution to MLB, including the off the field stuff. If you elevate the game in the eyes of the public, contribute towards a positive image of baseball, that should add to your chances. s*** on the game with gambling, PEDs, etc. and your chances should drop considerably. The media thing is something I'd also weigh, but less than PEDs, arrests, etc. The HoF should be a celebration of all the best people that have been part of MLB. I think it's ridiculous that a guy like Frank Thomas can be shunned by the voters, if even for just one year, because he didn't like to talk to the media. I mean, that's just retarded.
  19. So, is Pavano like the only free agent of note remaining?
  20. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 13, 2011 -> 03:58 PM) Uribe and the Double-Tag not on there is crap. I agree about Uribe, but not with the Fisk play. The Double-Tag was just a product of a strange situation. Fisk did nothing incredibly athletic or really even impressive. He just happened to catch a ball and tag two guys who ran at him one after another.
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 13, 2011 -> 03:54 PM) Juan Pierre. I said decent, and that goes for the arm, too
  22. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jan 13, 2011 -> 03:51 PM) Uribe's play should have been on there for sure. What came in #1 overall? Mays' catch? I'm sure that's what it is. Matthews' catch in Texas is probably in the top 5, too.
  23. What were the top 5? QUOTE (StatManDu @ Jan 13, 2011 -> 02:11 PM) The Sox had four plays in MLB Network's Countdown 75 Most Spectacular Defensive Plays in MLB History: 41) Calderon's wall-scaling catch in LF at Tiger Stadium on July 27, 1987; 15) Iguchi's flying throw to first from 2B in 2006; 8) Wise's catch which preserved Buehrle's perfect game on July 23, 2009; 6) Buehrle's between the legs throw to first on Opening Day 2010 The most glaring oversight when it comes to the Sox was Uribe's diving catch into the stands in Houston in Game 4 of the 2005 World Series. Others? How about two from the "Black Out Game" when Ken Griffey Jr. threw out a runner at the plate and Brian Anderson's game-ending catch ... On Opening Day 2000, I remember Ray Durham making a phenomenal diving catch with his back to the plate. More? Oh, come on! Neither one of those plays was anything special. The only reason the Griffey throw is even remembered (besides it being the Black Out Game) is that it was the only thing Griffey contributed to the Sox that year. He was pretty damn shallow in the OF and any decent defender should have been able to throw the runner out. Anderson's catch was pretty good, but not incredible. They're talking about the best plays in the history of the sport. Those two probably don't even crack the top 1,000.
  24. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 13, 2011 -> 01:56 PM) Thanks! And it's a girl. Congratulations! Don't you already have a girl, though? You need to work on your genes.
  25. A few months ago, I bought a 1998 Toyota Camry from my great aunt. It only has 30,000 miles on it and I paid a ridiculously low amount for it. I got rid of the newer car that I had because I just couldn't pass up the deal. I really have no ideal car. Cars don't really impress me that much, just as long as it gets me to where I need to be.
