  1. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 02:12 PM) Archrival vs team which has 2 recent Championships and a bunch of unlikeable players? ...I'm rooting for good commercials. This, and I'm also rooting for a Metrodome-style roof collapse.
  2. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 03:27 PM) A lot of people had emotional reactions based on the situation. Id even venture to say a good number of them were drunk. That doesnt change anything though. Just because a few people are mad for the wrong reasons or jumped the gun with being upset before getting the results doesnt discredit the people who were willing to wait to hear what the injury was to gather an opinion. As I said before, the results of the MRI also derailed a lot of what the people who were supporting Cutler were preaching. Neither side is right, I just find the people who think they are taking some moral high road and calling everyone names because they are questioning what happened laughable. I still dont know how I feel about all of it and I am mostly playing devils advocate, but the people calling the anyone who questions Cutlers toughness an idiot or meatball are ridiculous. Youre reaching for excuses just as much as the other side is and are basically proclaiming yourselves right with nothing to back it up. You just earned yourself a nomination for poster of the year.
  3. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 03:08 PM) A lot of the people who have been on Cutlers side of this have been very critical of the people questioning the injury. However, there is a total flip flop going on in their argument. It started off saying how tough he has been and if he says he is too hurt than we have to take his word for it. Then once the MRI results come back and guys like ptatc are saying that in his opinion its a second degree sprain (not calling you out, just using your expertise to prove a point) and isnt an injury that cant be played through that now the excuse is that there is nothing he can do because the coaches/doctors kept him out. There is an enormous difference between being too hurt to play and being capable of playing and being held out by the coaches. Considering he went in the first series in the 2nd half the largest factor in him remaining in the game would be based on how he said he felt. Now Im not doubting the injury and theres no way to know what kind of pain he was in or how much the decision to pull him was injury and how much was performance. But all the people who are s***ting all over people upset about this need to realize that this injury is something can be played through and its been proven many times. Lovie Smith didnt say he pulled him because he was playing bad, he said it was because of the injury. Do you honestly not think if Jay came in after the first series in the 2nd half and said to Lovie "Its sore but Im fine, I can play through it" that he would have stayed in the game? Nice.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 12:42 PM) Google the phrase. Oh, not a huge Flaming Lips fan
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 12:25 PM) You realize the sun doesn't go down, it's just an illusion caused by the world spinning 'round. Haha, well this is obviously sarcasm. I just couldn't tell if Leonard was being sarcastic or if he thought I was making some point that I wasn't. I'm a bit confused.
  6. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 11:28 AM) huh? Why is he a tool exactly? For defending his QB? A lot of s*** for Bears fans to b**** about this morning...It seems weird for you to pick Urlacher defending Cutler and the Bears being like the Cubs, but to each his own. I'm talking about what Urlacher said about the fans and other players watching at home, added to things he's done in the past. Defending the QB is great.
  7. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 11:18 AM) your point was they've have never done anything to earn a reputation has a "historically" good team and are just like the Cubs where they've never done anything to earn that reputation. Your point is still wrong. They have earned the title as won of the best franchises in the NFL, historically. If you want to qualify and say modern era or Super Bowl era, you have a small point, as they've won only one Super Bowl. However, the Cubs haven't even done that. Fine, they have done nothing to earn that reputation in the modern era. I'm tired of rooting for a team that never does anything. How about that?
  8. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 10:35 AM) 8 championships, good for second most, I believe. And all but two happened in the 1940's or earlier. Everyone is satisfied with 1985, though. Perhaps they're more like the Pittsburgh Pirates or the San Francisco Giants (before this year) of the NFL. My point remains. They've hardly done anything in over 50 years.
  9. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 10:19 AM) That is a poor comparison. The Cubs have one WS title in their history. The Bears have won multiple championships albeit in the 40's and before. At least the Bears earned their reputation at one point in their history. The Cubs never did. My point is that they have an historic reputation as a storied franchise despite not having much to show for it.
  10. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 08:44 AM) Actually they really don't, other than Opening Day. In fact April games that are not OD are usually the worst attendance of the year. Hm, I thought they came out well for at least the first week or two. Either way, it's still on the team to get the fans out there.
  11. The thing I hate about being a Bears fan is that they're basically the Cubs of the NFL. A "storied" franchise with just one Super Bowl to their name, the last one being over a quarter century ago. Where the Cubs are "loveable," the Bears are "tough."
  12. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 12:45 AM) Do you realize we're floating in space? And your point?
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 23, 2011 -> 08:04 PM) Link Urlacher is such a tool. I wish Bas Ruttan kicked his ass when he had the chance.
  14. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jan 23, 2011 -> 04:46 PM) Bears are a soft team with a soft coaching staff I have never agreed with anything on this site more.
  15. That's absurd. It's on the team to win early. The fans will show up at the beginning of the season no matter what, as they always do. If you want them to continue to come, you better win.
  16. Through one quarter, Bears look terrible. Completely getting outplayed.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 23, 2011 -> 10:07 AM) According to Scott Gregor, Daily Herald White Sox beat writer, his inside sources say Chris Sale is a lock to be the White Sox closer in 2011. If true, this is fantastic news. It makes me very happy.
  18. Orion the Hunter would obviously be renamed Catfish.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 21, 2011 -> 03:30 PM) Why? There's zero reason to get rid of him right now. He's not making much money, he still has years left before he would need to be added to the 40 man, and even though he got hurt the year before and struggled mightily last year, there's still a non-zero chance that he'll make a major improvement in the next couple years. The Sox would be crazy to just pretend that they've heard the last of him. I don't think he's actually that good and that his name will be brought up less and less as time goes by. I believe he's mainly here because of his brother.
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 21, 2011 -> 03:23 PM) New churro flavors for 2011. You joke, but that would be one of the best pieces of White Sox news I've heard in the last decade. That is, as long as they keep the flavors they have now, too.
  21. I'm pretty sure that we'll see and hear the last of Jordan Danks as soon as John Danks is traded or leaves via free agency. It seems to me that he's only being kept in the mix to try to sway his older brother into sticking around.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 21, 2011 -> 01:25 PM) I knew a brent. He was also very golly gee. Always dated younger girls, however. I'm not exactly sure if I know what you're saying
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 21, 2011 -> 12:57 PM) Thing about Quentin's splits are...he's backwards. He has a career .857 OPS against righties and .773 against lefties. Teahen was almost Kotsay-like against lefties last year. Although Quentin hits right handed, he's a bad guy to put in a righty/lefty platoon. That was going to be my next question, as the platoon option seemed all too perfect. Dang.
  24. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 21, 2011 -> 12:13 PM) There's a Brent that we work with that is a spitting image of Ned Flanders. He even talks like him and is super friendly and polite. Never swears. No bible talk though. It seems that you agree then.
  25. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jan 21, 2011 -> 11:13 AM) Really? I never thought that was that weird or uncommon of a name. I have two friends named Brent actually. Not a single one. In fact, it sounds to me like anyone with that name should always be wearing a sweater wrapped around their necks while playing tennis.
