  1. First of all, I loved Watchmen. Second, I absolutely hate Superman. He's like that kid you used to play cops and robbers with as a kid. "I shot you, you're dead." "Nuh uh, I'm wearing a bulletproof vest...plus it's fireproof and it lets me breath underwater." Or he's Cartman in the ninja episode. He has an ability that one-ups everyone else's powers.
  2. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jan 28, 2011 -> 05:32 PM) Was a big douche. Chet Lemon The namesake of a poster here AND his last name is a fruit. Jeff Abbott
  3. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 28, 2011 -> 08:55 AM) Milkman delivers!!! Gary Redus
  4. I have no idea who Del Rio is.
  5. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 02:41 PM) The Chicago Code premiers on Feb 7th. It's from Shawn Ryan who brought you The Shield. I think he's a native Illinoisan from Rockford. I don't care to watch that, and it can be explained in two words : IN CHICAAAAAAGO?!
  6. If this goes through, basically everything I wanted to occur in the offseason will have happened. The only thing they would be missing is improving on Quentin, but that was always the long-shot, icing-on-the-cake move.
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 01:38 PM) That's easily the best summary of the entire Oney Guillen situation I have ever heard. Well said my friend. I wish there were a pistol wink smiley.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 08:04 AM) April and May games have historically seen rather low attendance due to school and weather. Even the Cubs are gearing their 13 game plan trying to get people to buy April and May games. Why is some man or woman supposed to commit $200 to a game when there is a decent chance it could be 35 degrees or a delay that will get their kids home at 1 AM with school the next day. The only time the White Sox had stacked crowds throughout April and May was 2006, and we know why. Walk up sales are what can help the Sox. They not only need to play well, they need the weather to cooperate. The fans respond to the offseason with a bump in season tickets and Ozzie plans and they buy games in the summer months. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 11:20 AM) That's exactly why sustained success is necessary. Win the division 2 or 3 years in a row and you'll see the attendance rise. These guys know what's up.
  9. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 11:09 AM) Judging by Oney's tweet, the guy supposedly called Oney's GF a C*nt. To be dating Oney Guillen, she probably has to be. That, or a gold digger. But then again, a gold digger is most likely a c***.
  10. Going to be at the Royal Rumble this Sunday. I am seriously as excited as a little kid would be for it.
  11. They should have Ferrell be more of a straight character.

  13. QUOTE (Ranger @ Jan 26, 2011 -> 11:20 PM) Games from June through September are the games the results on the field are responsible for getting people there. In Apr/May, southsider is right, it's up to the fans to respond to the offseason. Many of the early-season tickets are bought before the season begins. It's not accurate that fans "always" show up early on. That's not true. They show up for opening day, and there's almost always a dramatic decline in the games that follow. Sox fans have not, historically, responded quickly to success. They didn't start selling out games until late August 2005, and they were in first place by 12 games in June. Yeah, we already went over the attendance early in the season. I admitted that I was mistaken. But really, we are going to have to agree to disagree. I don't think fans need to show up until the team proves that it is any good.
  14. Wow, a lot of outrage over a pretty stupid thing

  16. Glad to see The King's Speech rack up so many nominations. For my money, it was the best picture of the year. I wouldn't mind if it wins every major category in which it is nominated. Having said that, here are my predictions for the top awards: Best Picture: The Social Network (but I want King's Speech) Best Director: Darren Aronofsky Best Actor: Colin Firth (really don't see this going any other way) Best Actress: Natalie Portman (Michelle Williams as a possible dark horse) Best Supporting Actor: Christian Bale (very cool to see John Hawkes nominated for an Oscar, Renner is pretty surprising, and wouldn't mind if Rush won) Best Supporting Actress: Anyone's game, I think. I would give it to the girl from True Grit by far, though.
  17. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 02:12 PM) Archrival vs team which has 2 recent Championships and a bunch of unlikeable players? ...I'm rooting for good commercials. This, and I'm also rooting for a Metrodome-style roof collapse.
  18. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 03:27 PM) A lot of people had emotional reactions based on the situation. Id even venture to say a good number of them were drunk. That doesnt change anything though. Just because a few people are mad for the wrong reasons or jumped the gun with being upset before getting the results doesnt discredit the people who were willing to wait to hear what the injury was to gather an opinion. As I said before, the results of the MRI also derailed a lot of what the people who were supporting Cutler were preaching. Neither side is right, I just find the people who think they are taking some moral high road and calling everyone names because they are questioning what happened laughable. I still dont know how I feel about all of it and I am mostly playing devils advocate, but the people calling the anyone who questions Cutlers toughness an idiot or meatball are ridiculous. Youre reaching for excuses just as much as the other side is and are basically proclaiming yourselves right with nothing to back it up. You just earned yourself a nomination for poster of the year.
  19. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 03:08 PM) A lot of the people who have been on Cutlers side of this have been very critical of the people questioning the injury. However, there is a total flip flop going on in their argument. It started off saying how tough he has been and if he says he is too hurt than we have to take his word for it. Then once the MRI results come back and guys like ptatc are saying that in his opinion its a second degree sprain (not calling you out, just using your expertise to prove a point) and isnt an injury that cant be played through that now the excuse is that there is nothing he can do because the coaches/doctors kept him out. There is an enormous difference between being too hurt to play and being capable of playing and being held out by the coaches. Considering he went in the first series in the 2nd half the largest factor in him remaining in the game would be based on how he said he felt. Now Im not doubting the injury and theres no way to know what kind of pain he was in or how much the decision to pull him was injury and how much was performance. But all the people who are s***ting all over people upset about this need to realize that this injury is something can be played through and its been proven many times. Lovie Smith didnt say he pulled him because he was playing bad, he said it was because of the injury. Do you honestly not think if Jay came in after the first series in the 2nd half and said to Lovie "Its sore but Im fine, I can play through it" that he would have stayed in the game? Nice.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 12:42 PM) Google the phrase. Oh, not a huge Flaming Lips fan
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 12:25 PM) You realize the sun doesn't go down, it's just an illusion caused by the world spinning 'round. Haha, well this is obviously sarcasm. I just couldn't tell if Leonard was being sarcastic or if he thought I was making some point that I wasn't. I'm a bit confused.
  22. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 11:28 AM) huh? Why is he a tool exactly? For defending his QB? A lot of s*** for Bears fans to b**** about this morning...It seems weird for you to pick Urlacher defending Cutler and the Bears being like the Cubs, but to each his own. I'm talking about what Urlacher said about the fans and other players watching at home, added to things he's done in the past. Defending the QB is great.
  23. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 11:18 AM) your point was they've have never done anything to earn a reputation has a "historically" good team and are just like the Cubs where they've never done anything to earn that reputation. Your point is still wrong. They have earned the title as won of the best franchises in the NFL, historically. If you want to qualify and say modern era or Super Bowl era, you have a small point, as they've won only one Super Bowl. However, the Cubs haven't even done that. Fine, they have done nothing to earn that reputation in the modern era. I'm tired of rooting for a team that never does anything. How about that?
  24. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 10:35 AM) 8 championships, good for second most, I believe. And all but two happened in the 1940's or earlier. Everyone is satisfied with 1985, though. Perhaps they're more like the Pittsburgh Pirates or the San Francisco Giants (before this year) of the NFL. My point remains. They've hardly done anything in over 50 years.
  25. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 10:19 AM) That is a poor comparison. The Cubs have one WS title in their history. The Bears have won multiple championships albeit in the 40's and before. At least the Bears earned their reputation at one point in their history. The Cubs never did. My point is that they have an historic reputation as a storied franchise despite not having much to show for it.
