Catch All Anything Thread
QUOTE (lostfan @ Feb 12, 2011 -> 01:32 PM) I type so fast it usually doesn't matter. No, I mean when it adds things to your search. Instead of searching just "Jim Morrison," it might search "Jim Morrison quotes".

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 12, 2011 -> 12:16 PM) So what is Cowley's new job at Suntimes? Not sure, but I liked his article yesterday.

Who is the best player on the Sox right now?
I voted for Danks, but if we're going to ask who is the best at their job, it would be Thornton.

QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 12, 2011 -> 11:28 AM) Listening to Bill Melton on ESPN1000. Still calling him Chris Sales. Mid-season form for that guy. Everyone says that. I don't know what's so hard to get.

Does Google bother anyone with how they predict what you're typing and automatically add something you're not actually looking for?

Michael Young
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 11, 2011 -> 06:15 PM) Viciedo? You think I was bad after the Hudson trade? My wrath would be godlike if that abomination were to occur. Then I hope it doesn't happen solely for that reason.

Michael Young
This rumor is already making its way around, it seems. I walked into my house and the first thing my roommate says to me is that he heard the Sox traded for Michael Young. Unless it happened in the 15 minutes it took me to get home from work, I knew it had to be false, but checked online anyway. He said he was told that it was Young + cash for Teahen + Viciedo + a minor league pitcher.

2011 Films Thread
QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Feb 11, 2011 -> 04:25 PM) I watched one of the most heavy-handed documentaries in a long time. It's called GasLand and while it's an interesting and informative movie and topic...I don't care about how the filmmaker breaks down because some stream reminds him of home. It's about natural gas drilling and how it's affecting the environment and people around the drill sites. Also, how it's poorly regulated, if at all. But MAN...gimme the facts, not your personal opinion. I wanted to shoot Josh Fox, just to put him out of his misery. Is that the one where some guy shows how there is gas coming out of his kitchen sink and he lights it on fire? They had a guy on the Colbert Report once who talked about that topic and showed a clip from his documentary.

HS pitcher cut because he cant field bunts
I'm glad that a lot of people seem to agree with me. I thought I would get jumped on for that.

2011 TV Thread
QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Feb 11, 2011 -> 12:11 PM) They also seem to love gay actors that play straight characters...NPH, Cynthia Nixon, TR Knight...at least those are the gay actors we know are gay. Will from Will and Grace wasn't flamboyant, but the Jack character was. The doc on Grey's Anatomy is gay..she isn't flamboyant...I think there was another doc that was gay and not flamboyant, but she's off the show. I don't know the more you dig, I don't see that as the case. Flamboyant is funny though...I don't think it's insulting, but maybe Rex speak better to it. The chick from Flashforward was a non flamboyant bad ass FBI agent. As was already mentioned, Cam is incredibly flamboyant and so was Jack. I'm pretty sure they both won awards. Every single character in Milk was extremely effeminate. I've seen videos of Harvey Milk, and he didn't seem quite as (I guess) expressive in his motions as Sean Penn played him. PSH in Capote was also very effeminate, but these last two were based on real people, so who knows.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 11, 2011 -> 11:33 AM) I dunno, I love the legit TCQ bat flip. Iguchi's has some braggadocio, TCQ's flip had that plus it was so emphatic. He'd launch that bat. Agree to disagree, but you're wrong.

MLBN lists
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Feb 11, 2011 -> 11:25 AM) Their SS list had Jeter at 3. After I saw that a couple weeks ago I stopped caring about anything else they said in this series. That's the one that screams bias. I'm sure everyone else had the same reaction, but that name and rank just jumped off of the page.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 11, 2011 -> 08:22 AM) No offense to PK14...but TCQ had one hell of a bat flip. In recent White Sox history, nobody had a better bat flip than Tadahito Iguchi.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Feb 11, 2011 -> 03:06 AM) No f***ing contest, my friend. Keep in mind Konerko was hit in the head by a pitch earlier in the game, I just assume he hit the 2nd while suffering from a severe concussion. (the 2nd was off Borowski) That homer comes up every year, and every year I remember the best avatar in Soxtalk history. It's of that homer/pose with a subtitle saying "Konerkowned".

Buehrle vs. Vick
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 11, 2011 -> 09:50 AM) And I apologize if sharing my viewpoints come off as preachy to everyone. That is not my intention. I have not demanded that any one of you change anything in your lifestyle. For the record, I wasn't referring to you when I mentioned the preachy vegetarians and vegans. You're decidedly unpreachy when it comes to your diet. You do mention it enough , but you don't talk down to non-vegans or act like you're better than anyone because you're a vegan. I know I give you s*** on occasion because of it, but I'm pretty sure you know that we're all just having fun with it. I apologize if that wasn't evident. Oh, but I did spit in your pita thingy you had at the bar that one day. Sorry!

I thought MLB Network was supposed to be this unbiased network that was head and shoulders above ESPN? There are also no catchers listed.

Twins could be looking to deal Liriano
QUOTE (beck72 @ Feb 11, 2011 -> 05:40 AM) I wouldn't want them to deal him. In the short term, it may hurt them. Yet the young talent they could get in return could stock them for the next 5 years at a few key spots, would probably be better for the Twins in the long term. Kind of like the Tigers Granderson deal for Austin Jackson. It seemed like a sell off. Yet it helped them get younger and better. If the White Sox have this window of a couple of years to win it all again, I definitely want the Twins to trade Liriano immediately. They would likely only reap the benefits by the time our window has closed, and it would greatly hurt their chances of competing within our window.

Buehrle vs. Vick
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 11:27 PM) Im not going to fight another person's battles, but Im pretty sure the distinction that was being made was "intentionally". Hurting animals via using the internet, or just being a human (undoubtedly the creation of the hospital where you were born hurt some animal) is not intentional, those would be more like incidental and consequential damages. People can only be responsible for so much, some people choose not to directly buy a product that was made from a killed animal. A lot is out of human control. The point is he tries to minimize animal death as much as possible. You cant attack the position just because its impossible to live and not hurt animals at all. Im sure many vegans if possible would try and live without harming any animals, it just isnt possible. We all draw a line in the sand some where, and at the end of the day all that matters is if in our own mind we are on the right side. That's one of the problems. A lot of vegetarians and vegans love to tell you how wrong you are for eating meat, and how they are on a higher moral level.
