QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 20, 2011 -> 05:54 PM) Pretty much unless Buerhle falls off of a cliff, he will be the opening day starter as long as he is here. This, and it should be obvious to everyone.

Chris Sale Will Start the Season in the Bullpen

QUOTE (ptatc @ Feb 20, 2011 -> 06:46 PM) The calfs were really long but that was genetics. He was one of the type of people who had long legs and a really short torso. He was all arms and legs. As far as PEDS go,, it didn't look like it to me but at that time in MLB nothing would surprise me. It's not about the length of his legs. Google him and take a look at his calves. They are absurdly large. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 11:59 AM) But they absolutely had to know what his contract demands were (Hell, they could have sat down and tried to extend him at the same time as trying to sign Holliday). But Pujols has to know that he can't have it both ways. If he told them to get a big bat in order to keep him, and understanding their payroll, he'd know that it would be damn near impossible to set that team up financially. If indeed he told the Cardinals that they need a big bat like Holliday's in order for him to be interested in staying, he's a jagoff to then go out and ask for $300 million.

I was under the impression that he had already retired, so this isn't a shock to me.

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 20, 2011 -> 09:37 PM) So, um, eh, hmmmm, any guys on here ever get a pedicure? After years of basketball abuse, I think I could use one. Not gonna lie, kind of embarassed cuz I stereotype it as something women do. That's because it is. I have never once heard of a man (before reading Steve's post above this) getting a pedicure.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 18, 2011 -> 02:15 PM) No one knows if they are right or wrong for many years and we can look back at Sale's career. But for the meantime, I think it's an awful plan. It's not that you think it's bad, that's your opinion. It's that you keep talking about it like it's sure to derail his career and that everyone else is a moron for not believing that. -

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 18, 2011 -> 01:58 PM) And you have no idea that this won't delay his progress as a starting pitcher either. No, but we'll take the words and actions of the professionals whose careers revolve around these types of decisions. You, on the other hand, act as if there is no way that they're right. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 18, 2011 -> 03:03 AM) This is not bad player management. This is player management with which you disagree. There is a big difference. And personally, I'd rather the Sox do what they can to cash in on this year's team and worry about next year's team next year. You don't know that they will be worse, but considering Jackson, Buehrle, and Thornton are free agents, it's very likely that they will be worse and Chris Sale will have no effect on that whatsoever. Exactly, but he's going to continue talking as though everyone else is an idiot. -
QUOTE (QuincyStandback @ Feb 18, 2011 -> 12:43 AM) Wow! Way to go Fartolo Colon. You truly are a fat bastard. His face looks extremely fat, but that picture doesn't make his body look much fatter than I remember him. In fact, he doesn't look quite as big as I recall.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 07:53 PM) He didn't have the MLBPA behind him though. Selig doesn't have nearly the power Goodell does over things like this Yes, this. I didn't get anything mixed up. I'm just saying that he wouldn't have been suspended by the MLB even if he did kill someone.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 05:18 PM) For those of you that went to see Daniel Tosh at the Chicago Theater, the opening comedian, Matt Fulchiron, is going to be at the Congress on the 24th. The guy is absolutely hilarious. LINK I might be going to this. I see it's him and another guy that night. Do you think he'll be on second? Also, do you think we'd end up seeing the exact same act we did when he opened for Tosh?

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 03:58 PM) Yep. Today is a sad, sad day for those of us who value starting pitching. And an extremely happy day for people who value the chance to win in 2011. -
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 04:54 PM) John Rocker was suspended for his comments in Sports Illustrated. So you can murder someone behind the wheel of a car while drunk and they won't suspend you for a game, but don't make racist remarks!

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 03:28 PM) For some reason, Thornton scares me as the closer. I think he'd do fine, but I also think that Sale would be a better option. Better all around stuff, and it keeps Thornton in the role in which he has been the best. Entirely agree. -

QUOTE (MEANS @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 01:18 PM) well i do it sometimes but my excuse is that one of my best friends growing up is named Chris Sales. Everyone calls him Sal. You get a pass.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 12:04 PM) I say tough decision because baseball doesn't have a long history of off the field problems and quite frankly they haven't had to keep as tight of a reign on there players and this would historically be relatively unprecedented to give that sort of suspension out. That said, if I were the comissioner, I'd give him no less than 30 games off and would contemplate a half season or 90 day suspension. I was LOLing at the idea of Selig having a tough choice to make and choosing the right one, a lengthy suspension.
-
Without looking at the schedule and assuming he does get a suspension, I bet the Twins play the Tigers a ton in that time frame while the Sox play them in just one series.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 11:46 AM) That is how I watched it too. I never watched it live, until the last couple of seasons. I never watched it live at all. That's how I watch almost all comedies. TBS and Comedy Central syndicating shows is perfect for me. King of Queens, Everybody Loves Raymond, My Name is Earl, Yes Dear, Scrubs, and the Office (to an extent) are all shows I never watched live, but I really like all of them and watch the re-runs when I notice that they're playing.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 11:32 AM) Pretty crazy story. And no, this doesn't belong in some catch all. In fact, I'm closing that catch all for the very reason. This is pretty big news. IF this was the NFL, a long suspension would be near. I wonder if Selig makes a tough decision and gives him a hard suspension given that he resisted arrest, was beyond obliterated, and it is a multiple offense. LOL

QUOTE (juddling @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 09:11 PM) Noticed earlier this week that netflix streaming has added all 9 seasons of Scrubs and the first few seasons of That 70's Show. I'm happy I never watched Scrubs until about a year ago (maybe a little more). But I think I've seen every episode by now due to Comedy Central playing episodes at 5:00 and 5:30 everyday.

QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 01:15 PM) People keep mentioning the Cubs, but has anyone thought maybe Pujols wouldn't want to tarnish his legacy with the Cardinals and go play for their rival? To me, if Pujols leaves the Cards, it will be for the AL. That was one of my first arguments. Pujols seems like the kind of guy that wouldn't want to do that to his legacy. But then if it's true that he turned down that offer from the Cardinals of 8/240, he might not give a rat's ass about his legacy.
