  1. That shows me two things. 1.) The Sox seemingly just always had a better team in front of them (which we all knew) 2.) The Indians have a tradition of being great in the regular season and blowing it in the postseason
  2. When the f*** are they releasing season three of Breaking Bad in the US?
  3. Does anyone else get a lot of bellybutton lint? I have a pretty hairy chest and stomach, so I'm guessing that's the reason, but I clean out the lint every single day in the shower and there's always more. Gross, yes. Just wanted to know if anyone else suffers from this annoyance
  4. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 02:02 PM) Personally I'd hate to see this FORCE us into thinking we need to take him out of the position where he's been the best for us (setup man). I still like Sale as the closer until he proves me wrong. I realize MT has been one of the best setup men now for several years, and could probably be a good closer, but why fix it if it's not broke? I don't think it forces him into the closer role. Six million bucks is a lot for a set-up guy, but it's not absurd.
  5. I feel like he may have been able to get more in free agency. I think he likes it here and took a mutually beneficial deal at a small discount to stay. Glad to have him.
  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 5, 2011 -> 06:06 PM) I was referring to that restaurant, weirdo. Too many conversations going on at once. But yeah, I'll have to try it soon.
  7. It's also very encouraging to see how Peavy is trying to take this one step at a time, even conceding that he would be OK with pitching around 30 games instead of 35.
  8. QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 5, 2011 -> 01:59 PM) t The article is written with only partial information and is inaccurate. He tries to combine different ideas to sensationalize it. The injury Peavy suffered is not a tendon tear as he describes in the latter part of the article. He attempts to compare them but the detached tendon is different then a tendon tear. He states in the article that this is the worst of the tendon injuries. That is wrong again. Tearing a tendon mid-substance is much worse. that surgery is like tying two pieces of spaghetti together and it doesn't work well. Re-attaching to bone is easier to do and has better results. He calls this injury an avulsion which is wrong. An avulsion is when the tendon or ligament pulls off a piece of bone with it. Those are relatively easy to fix as you just pin the bone down and it heals like a fracture. It's an interesting article but it seems like he got a few different sources of information and put it together quickly and confused a few of the combine topics. You are the MVP of the offseason, my friend. Has anyone seriously brought more knowledge to this board since Peavy went down? The answer is no.
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 5, 2011 -> 02:43 PM) It was actually pretty solid. Give it a try. I haven't been going to as many movies as I normally do in the last few months. It's gonna take some seriously good-looking movies to get me to start going again on a regular basis.
  10. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 4, 2011 -> 06:39 PM) Ed's Potsticker House. Having dinner with some die hard Sox fans. I drive by there all the time. Never been.
  11. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 4, 2011 -> 03:38 PM) Might go with the wife tomorrow night to check it out. Dinner in Bridgeport tonight. Where?
  12. QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Mar 4, 2011 -> 01:51 PM) Can't speak for everyone in my area but I'm about 10 minutes from Alexian and I would go to a s***load of games if the Sox put an affiliate in there. I think a lot of Sox fans in the area would. Especially since getting to The Cell is kind of a b**** from around here. Which brings up the point StrangeSox brought up earlier.
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 4, 2011 -> 02:07 PM) Adjustment Bureau at 70% after 142 reviews on RT. I'll probably see it. Seems like a definite TV/DVD movie for me.
  14. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 4, 2011 -> 01:38 PM) I think we actually agree on this, I was just pointing out how inconsistent it was. Gotcha
  15. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Mar 4, 2011 -> 01:09 PM)
  16. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 4, 2011 -> 01:07 PM) Obviously the entire movie required significant suspension of disbelief (as do most sci-fi movies) so the rules being ridiculous wasn't a huge issue, but it is absurd that if you die in the dream but you aren't sedated you wake up, if you die in the dream and are sedated you go to limbo, and then if you die in limbo while you are sedated or in a coma or whatever you wake up? It was an entertaining action movie with some cool visuals and I give credit to Nolan for at least not creating formulaic movies but I just don't think it was a masterpiece like a lot of people did. I totally agree about it not being a masterpiece. I understand the part about waking up if you die in a dream. It also makes some sense to go to limbo if you die in a dream because you can't wake up out of a sedative. The part that baffles me, though, is waking up from limbo by dying. How does that take you out of the sedative when it didn't in the regular dream? That's about the only real question I had with the movie, but I'm fine with it.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 4, 2011 -> 12:55 PM) I agree with everything in this post. I enjoyed the movie, but the rules for the dreams were frankly ridiculous and I love that even though there were two sets of actors credited for the kids that people still argue that the kids were the same at the end as they were for the other sequences. I won't hold the rules being ridiculous against the movie. The concept of the movie requires it to be absurd, so at least they followed their own rules. It just seemed odd that dying in one dream while under sedation would result in going to limbo, but dying in limbo brings you back.
  18. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 4, 2011 -> 12:30 PM) Yeah I thought it was pretty straightforward. I'm not sure if spoilers are necessary, but I did it anyway.
  19. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 4, 2011 -> 12:27 PM) I'd certainly place George as the most technically proficient of the three by quite a bit, but there simply is no Beatles without the never to be equalled Lennon/McCartney collaborative songwriting. That sounds pretty reasonable, and Harrison is my favorite Beatle.
  20. I also saw Inception a few weeks ago and forgot to mention this. Why is there so much debate about the movie? I don't think it was nearly as convoluted or up-in-the-air as people seem to think it was.
  21. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Mar 4, 2011 -> 10:33 AM)
  22. Anyone see Winter's Bone? If so, what did you think of the last scene?
  23. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Mar 3, 2011 -> 12:37 PM) The Social Network - perfectly entertaining, but not extraordinary in any way. And the lead actor is just playing himself. No great acting feat. I completely agree with this.
  24. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 3, 2011 -> 11:40 AM) Everyone else loves these? I've never even heard of ketchup on a bratwurst.
  25. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 2, 2011 -> 04:25 PM) Because subconsciously you forgot that Peavy's first name was Jake since nobody refers to him by his first name anywhere (even though it is in the thread title...I read it as "Peavy Thread"). It's almost always Peavy and every now and then it's JFP. Atleast, that is why I didn't get it. You may be on to something there.
