  1. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 18, 2011 -> 01:58 PM) And you have no idea that this won't delay his progress as a starting pitcher either. No, but we'll take the words and actions of the professionals whose careers revolve around these types of decisions. You, on the other hand, act as if there is no way that they're right.
  2. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 18, 2011 -> 03:03 AM) This is not bad player management. This is player management with which you disagree. There is a big difference. And personally, I'd rather the Sox do what they can to cash in on this year's team and worry about next year's team next year. You don't know that they will be worse, but considering Jackson, Buehrle, and Thornton are free agents, it's very likely that they will be worse and Chris Sale will have no effect on that whatsoever. Exactly, but he's going to continue talking as though everyone else is an idiot.
  3. QUOTE (QuincyStandback @ Feb 18, 2011 -> 12:43 AM) Wow! Way to go Fartolo Colon. You truly are a fat bastard. His face looks extremely fat, but that picture doesn't make his body look much fatter than I remember him. In fact, he doesn't look quite as big as I recall.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 07:53 PM) He didn't have the MLBPA behind him though. Selig doesn't have nearly the power Goodell does over things like this Yes, this. I didn't get anything mixed up. I'm just saying that he wouldn't have been suspended by the MLB even if he did kill someone.
  5. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 05:18 PM) For those of you that went to see Daniel Tosh at the Chicago Theater, the opening comedian, Matt Fulchiron, is going to be at the Congress on the 24th. The guy is absolutely hilarious. LINK I might be going to this. I see it's him and another guy that night. Do you think he'll be on second? Also, do you think we'd end up seeing the exact same act we did when he opened for Tosh?
  6. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 03:58 PM) Yep. Today is a sad, sad day for those of us who value starting pitching. And an extremely happy day for people who value the chance to win in 2011.
  7. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 04:54 PM) John Rocker was suspended for his comments in Sports Illustrated. So you can murder someone behind the wheel of a car while drunk and they won't suspend you for a game, but don't make racist remarks!
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 03:28 PM) For some reason, Thornton scares me as the closer. I think he'd do fine, but I also think that Sale would be a better option. Better all around stuff, and it keeps Thornton in the role in which he has been the best. Entirely agree.
  9. QUOTE (MEANS @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 01:18 PM) well i do it sometimes but my excuse is that one of my best friends growing up is named Chris Sales. Everyone calls him Sal. You get a pass.
  10. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 12:04 PM) I say tough decision because baseball doesn't have a long history of off the field problems and quite frankly they haven't had to keep as tight of a reign on there players and this would historically be relatively unprecedented to give that sort of suspension out. That said, if I were the comissioner, I'd give him no less than 30 games off and would contemplate a half season or 90 day suspension. I was LOLing at the idea of Selig having a tough choice to make and choosing the right one, a lengthy suspension.
  11. Without looking at the schedule and assuming he does get a suspension, I bet the Twins play the Tigers a ton in that time frame while the Sox play them in just one series.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 11:46 AM) That is how I watched it too. I never watched it live, until the last couple of seasons. I never watched it live at all. That's how I watch almost all comedies. TBS and Comedy Central syndicating shows is perfect for me. King of Queens, Everybody Loves Raymond, My Name is Earl, Yes Dear, Scrubs, and the Office (to an extent) are all shows I never watched live, but I really like all of them and watch the re-runs when I notice that they're playing.
  13. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 11:32 AM) Pretty crazy story. And no, this doesn't belong in some catch all. In fact, I'm closing that catch all for the very reason. This is pretty big news. IF this was the NFL, a long suspension would be near. I wonder if Selig makes a tough decision and gives him a hard suspension given that he resisted arrest, was beyond obliterated, and it is a multiple offense. LOL
  14. QUOTE (juddling @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 09:11 PM) Noticed earlier this week that netflix streaming has added all 9 seasons of Scrubs and the first few seasons of That 70's Show. I'm happy I never watched Scrubs until about a year ago (maybe a little more). But I think I've seen every episode by now due to Comedy Central playing episodes at 5:00 and 5:30 everyday.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 01:15 PM) People keep mentioning the Cubs, but has anyone thought maybe Pujols wouldn't want to tarnish his legacy with the Cardinals and go play for their rival? To me, if Pujols leaves the Cards, it will be for the AL. That was one of my first arguments. Pujols seems like the kind of guy that wouldn't want to do that to his legacy. But then if it's true that he turned down that offer from the Cardinals of 8/240, he might not give a rat's ass about his legacy.
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 12:47 PM) why is posting my sons ultrasound pathetic? I was excited, it was my firstborn shack, post as many pics as you want. Every day if you want. Milkman posts all of his moustache pictures, so I dont think he is any position to dictate what is and what is not pathetic Hey, I have all of those in one album, and it was a f***ing amazing mustache. Jealous.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 12:09 PM) I have those too, I think its somewhat pathetic, but not as bad as people posting several other things like freakin ultrasound photos and pictures of what they cooked each night. Having a single album where you upload a picture or two of your dog a month is fine, but I swear there are people on there with multiple albums devoted entirely to their pet. And then there are the people who have every profile picture with their dog. The latter is usually a guy who is desperately trying to come off as deep/emotional and looking for a girl.
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 10:33 AM) I'm going to get prints made and leave them on the windshield of your car. Haha, thanks! But seriously, other people must have facebook friends who have albums of pictures of their pets. It's seriously pathetic.
  19. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 02:46 AM) Antonio Osuna. Misty water-colored memories Of the way we were
  20. QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 10:11 AM) Still can't figure it out! As we all know, that for many years ESPN has had no love for The Sox. Last year on MLBN's 30 clubs in 30 days they had us next to last on the schedule. This year On MLBN ,when they were going through who they thought were the top 10 best teams this year, Rod Allen picked The Sox as #8 and Harold Reynolds laughed his head off and said that he was surprised that they were on the list at all! When Reynolds was asked about the depth of The Sox rotation, he ducked the question and reverted the question over to Oakland and yacked up a storm about them. Even Mitch Williams. Reverts questions off of The Sox, and straight onto Detroit and how good they are. Yesterday, they talked about major key players that were injured last year that can make major impacts on teams if they are healthy. Santana, Morales, Nathan, and a few others were mentioned. How the heck can Peavy's name not even be mentioned let alone not be thrown into the conversation? This year on the TV broadcst schedule, (Except for one spring training game) ESPN has NO GAMES scheduled for The Sox this year. I know that we are all Sox fans and have some great hopes this year, but why don't major networks see us as a legitimate threat? I mean....C'mon already! Look at our line up and rotaion and pen! Maybe it's not tops in the majors, but sheesh......I don't thnk that we should be looked upon as a pile of rags that aren't worth the time of day for discussion on contending and being a threat! He promptly sexually harassed the closest female intern.
  21. If Heyman is right about the offer the Cardinals made, then Pujols would basically have to be a prick not to take it. I'm sure someone will say that he's just doing what's right for his family (would YOU take less money in a job?, etc.), but he'd absolutely ruin his reputation among fans and writers if he declines that deal. I would hate him for sure.
  22. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 01:40 AM) It's the generic answer but you really can't beat Pac and Biggie imo. Put them 1-2 in either order and go from there. No Eazy?
  23. QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 12:18 AM) Pup flies in Saturday afternoon....have ordered everything I can possibly think of, including food, toys, treats, bed, crate, grooming tools, etc. He's about 23 pounds already at 9 weeks. Ready to rock and roll...should be fun...and a challenge...oh my. Please, for the sake of everyone else, do not be one of those people who constantly posts pictures of your dog on facebook. It's annoying as hell and comes off as very pathetic and creepy.
  24. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 06:01 PM) You think they're bad? Excellent rotation. Above average bullpen. No matter how overpaid Wells is, he's an upgrade. If Morales comes back healthy they've got a pretty good team. Oh, that Peter Bourgos kid looks real nice. Dude can fly and he's already above average defensively. He and Trout might be the two fastest guys in baseball. Does it seem pretty cool that the Angels have had both Salmon and Trout? Too bad they never had Catfish.
