  1. QUOTE (lostfan @ Feb 2, 2011 -> 08:59 PM) i have lazy ass neighbors. I kind of look down on those people actually. My neighbor to the left of me is like 83 so to me it's like a moral obligation to shovel her sidewalk, and there's community stairs that we all use. Guess who's the only one to do that? Until last year though there was a mystery neighbor that used to get up at dawn when it snowed and shovel all of our sidewalks, I never knew until right before he moved that it was a guy who had an accident and had brain damage and couldn't work, he used to say "these people got to go to work" but he never wanted us to see him shoveling. I love those people, the ones that don't want any credit for their good deeds. Looks like I'll be "working from home" again tomorrow. That means I'll be doing nothing at all.
  2. QUOTE (QuincyStandback @ Feb 2, 2011 -> 02:32 AM) Breaking Bad. I know it's not on right now but if you get the chance watch it. Start from Season 1, you will be lost if you don't. Bryan Cranston is awesome in it. I've recently been re-watching the series on Netflix. It's just as good the second time around. His wife is just such an unbelievable b****, though. Leave it to a woman to make her husband's cancer all about her, I guess
  3. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Feb 1, 2011 -> 02:34 PM) Winner. They are going for it this year and having Sale at the back of the pen puts us in the best position to accomplish that. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 1, 2011 -> 02:29 PM) Exactly. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 1, 2011 -> 01:53 PM) f*** and yes I make a decent point once in a blue moon
  4. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 1, 2011 -> 03:51 PM) You are putting words into his mouth. He didn't say whether or not he agreed with the decision. He merely pointed out that because you disagree with it does not make it the wrong choice. Quite frankly, there is no wrong choice. Using him as a starting pitcher in the minors or as a reliever with the big league club are both going to be good for Sale and the White Sox in general. Exactly, thanks for explaining.
  5. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 1, 2011 -> 12:53 PM) I'll be rooting for Sale the whole year. It's not his fault the organization has no idea how to handle his situation. Stop crying about it. They don't know how to handle the situation? You know what, I think they're handling it perfectly. They're doing what is best for the team this year with the intention of having him return to starting duties next season. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean they don't know how to handle it.
  6. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Feb 1, 2011 -> 01:08 PM) Serbia won the Davis Cup, would have won the Hopman Cup, and Djokovic won the Australian Open, all in the last 6 weeks. Thats what I was referring to. And yes, that is dominance. If you're gonna dominate a sport, it might as well be tennis
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 31, 2011 -> 02:22 PM) really? Watching the PPV it seemed Nash had a bigger pop. I believe you since you were there obviously, it just seemed to me that the whole crowd went nuts when the engine revved up No, I would definitely say Booker T's pop was substantially better, and then he followed it up with all of his signature moves.
  8. I never paid attention to the type of salt I buy and I don't mean this to be a jerk, but I'm not going to spend extra money for YOUR dog. If someone has a problem with the salt someone else uses, they can get a yard.
  9. That Orton match was incredibly boring in person. A guy I didn't know of before won the Rumble lol. Booker T's pop was huge, one of the biggest I've ever seen.
  10. First of all, I loved Watchmen. Second, I absolutely hate Superman. He's like that kid you used to play cops and robbers with as a kid. "I shot you, you're dead." "Nuh uh, I'm wearing a bulletproof vest...plus it's fireproof and it lets me breath underwater." Or he's Cartman in the ninja episode. He has an ability that one-ups everyone else's powers.
  11. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jan 28, 2011 -> 05:32 PM) Was a big douche. Chet Lemon The namesake of a poster here AND his last name is a fruit. Jeff Abbott
  12. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 28, 2011 -> 08:55 AM) Milkman delivers!!! Gary Redus
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 02:41 PM) The Chicago Code premiers on Feb 7th. It's from Shawn Ryan who brought you The Shield. I think he's a native Illinoisan from Rockford. I don't care to watch that, and it can be explained in two words : IN CHICAAAAAAGO?!
  14. If this goes through, basically everything I wanted to occur in the offseason will have happened. The only thing they would be missing is improving on Quentin, but that was always the long-shot, icing-on-the-cake move.
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 01:38 PM) That's easily the best summary of the entire Oney Guillen situation I have ever heard. Well said my friend. I wish there were a pistol wink smiley.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 08:04 AM) April and May games have historically seen rather low attendance due to school and weather. Even the Cubs are gearing their 13 game plan trying to get people to buy April and May games. Why is some man or woman supposed to commit $200 to a game when there is a decent chance it could be 35 degrees or a delay that will get their kids home at 1 AM with school the next day. The only time the White Sox had stacked crowds throughout April and May was 2006, and we know why. Walk up sales are what can help the Sox. They not only need to play well, they need the weather to cooperate. The fans respond to the offseason with a bump in season tickets and Ozzie plans and they buy games in the summer months. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 11:20 AM) That's exactly why sustained success is necessary. Win the division 2 or 3 years in a row and you'll see the attendance rise. These guys know what's up.
  17. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 11:09 AM) Judging by Oney's tweet, the guy supposedly called Oney's GF a C*nt. To be dating Oney Guillen, she probably has to be. That, or a gold digger. But then again, a gold digger is most likely a c***.
  18. Going to be at the Royal Rumble this Sunday. I am seriously as excited as a little kid would be for it.
  19. They should have Ferrell be more of a straight character.
  20. QUOTE (The Critic @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 06:29 AM) Social Distortion - Story of My Life The Wildhearts - Mindslide AC/DC - Touch Too Much Wall of Voodoo - Mexican Radio Green Day - One of My Lies Anti-Nowhere League - Streets of London The Eagles - In The City Machine Head - Davidian Land of the El Caminos - White Noise Pegboy - Hardlight The original or live version? That's one of the few songs where I much, much prefer a live version.
  21. QUOTE (Ranger @ Jan 26, 2011 -> 11:20 PM) Games from June through September are the games the results on the field are responsible for getting people there. In Apr/May, southsider is right, it's up to the fans to respond to the offseason. Many of the early-season tickets are bought before the season begins. It's not accurate that fans "always" show up early on. That's not true. They show up for opening day, and there's almost always a dramatic decline in the games that follow. Sox fans have not, historically, responded quickly to success. They didn't start selling out games until late August 2005, and they were in first place by 12 games in June. Yeah, we already went over the attendance early in the season. I admitted that I was mistaken. But really, we are going to have to agree to disagree. I don't think fans need to show up until the team proves that it is any good.
  22. Wow, a lot of outrage over a pretty stupid thing
  23. Scandal - Goodbye To You Johnny Cash - Starkville City Jail Stevie Wonder - Living For The City Joe Walsh - New Year's Eve Randy Travis - Forever And Ever, Amen I'll Stand By You - The Pretenders The Kinks - Tired Of Waiting For You Tracy Byrd - Just Let Me Be In Love Billy Joel - Scenes From An Italian Restaurant Third Eye Blind - Graduate A nice little mix of good and terrible in there
  24. Glad to see The King's Speech rack up so many nominations. For my money, it was the best picture of the year. I wouldn't mind if it wins every major category in which it is nominated. Having said that, here are my predictions for the top awards: Best Picture: The Social Network (but I want King's Speech) Best Director: Darren Aronofsky Best Actor: Colin Firth (really don't see this going any other way) Best Actress: Natalie Portman (Michelle Williams as a possible dark horse) Best Supporting Actor: Christian Bale (very cool to see John Hawkes nominated for an Oscar, Renner is pretty surprising, and wouldn't mind if Rush won) Best Supporting Actress: Anyone's game, I think. I would give it to the girl from True Grit by far, though.
