  1. QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 05:26 PM) Yah Moon is pretty much a revelation. I didn't read up on the movie before I saw it, so I had no idea that it was going in that direction. I thought it was just about a guy living on the moon by himself and dealing with it.
  2. Why do so many people think Peavy will miss whole months?
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 01:52 PM) This is why I went custom. F*ck Phil Wellman. I feel like I'm too far into it to change to custom.
  4. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 04:24 PM) Then why'd you click a link titled SI Swimsuit thread? I agree with him, and I clicked on the thread because I read pretty much every thread But yeah, I don't get why guys still buy the swimsuit issue, or even why they watch certain shows because one or more of the actresses are hot.
  5. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 12:10 PM) Congrats, you are approaching Phil Wellman status. If only I could be so memorable.
  6. Thank you, sir.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 11:59 AM) With the amount of additional salary they've taken on this year, in the event of an April/May like last year, they will look at their books and realize their ticket sales have eroded, and they'll be in an even worse position for 2012. They'll start planning for significant salary cutbacks next year. With the contracts (years) they just handed out to Dunn, Konerko, and Crain, I really believe they've made a commitment to at least 2012.
  8. Can someone post or direct me to the list of statuses for post counts? I'm nearing 14,000 and sort of wonder what's up next.
  9. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 11:53 AM) To this day, Tim Allen's radio commericials for Michigan sometimes get me, because of the same music. I hadn't noticed that. Gonna have to pay attention next time. But yeah, I swear I almost lost it three separate times during that movie. When the kid from Malcolm In The Middle died, when Michael Caine was crying outside the boys' door when they said goodnight to him, and when Caine (I'm pretty positive) killed himself. I've always been a big Michael Caine fan, so that might have played a part in it.
  10. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 11:51 AM) For f***'s sake why in the world would we give up Danks? To be blunt, people aren't smart.
  11. QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 11:09 AM) 91 wins, first in the Central. Morel has a good rookie season, Dunn hits over 40 home runs, Konerko declines to near 2009 levels, Rios begins the year with struggles, but has a good second half to recover, Beckham has a breakout season, and Peavy starts 25 games. This is about exactly how I see things going.
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 11:43 AM) I agree with you on Moon. I was completely wrapped up in the movie from start to finish. I can see where some people would get bored, seeing as it's basically one actor on screen the entire time and no explosions, but I loved it.
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 11:41 AM) I have had it queued on Netflix for a bit. Glad there is another positive review. Someone posted the trailer for it here on Soxtalk probably a year ago. It had been on my queue since then, and I finally saw it a few weeks ago.
  14. I've seen The Cider House Rules and Moon in the last two days. I came closer to crying watching The Cider House Rules than I have watching a movie since probably Schindler's List. Moon was much more interesting than I expected. I'd heard that it is boring from more than one person, but I was into every second of it. Both were great movies.
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 14, 2011 -> 11:16 PM) Look on the bright side. We get Humber or Harrell this time around. You have turned into quite the little Debbie Downer
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 09:34 AM) After last year, I feel compelled to make sure people add that caveat when they say that a firesale could never happen this year. In the scenario where they are so bad early in the season that they're out of it by July, the only guys they'd likely trade are those with expiring contracts after 2011. This team is built with a 2-year window (maybe 3), so I don't think they'd have an outright firesale in 2011.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 08:39 AM) If we get off to the same start we did last year, then we're going to be thinking about it by May. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 08:40 AM) I should have added "barring a collapse by this team," I don't think it's going to happen so I'm not too worried about it at the moment. Danks isn't going anywhere unless the team does indeed fall out of playoff contention by July, Kenny certainly isn't going to throw in the towel in May. He knew that's what I meant.
  18. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 08:17 AM) I just youtubed it after reading this. That was good stuff. Sounded like a freakin bomb went off in that arena when his music hit, that place exploded. Oh and why would you feel bad about it? The guy has never ever had a bad thing to say about the WWE, he just moved on with his career, he did nothing wrong. Holy s***, you aren't kidding. It was so loud that you could hardly hear his music. I'm not gonna lie, I would've lost my f***in' mind if I were there. EDIT: And I have to admit, the Rock returning for a few weeks is one of very few ways that I will actually watch each Raw in that time frame.
  19. QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 01:34 AM) Saw Animal Kingdom last night. Took some unexpected turns, and I was a little confused once or twice. But I was still floored! Great movie. Agreed. I didn't understand why the woman was nominated for Best Supporting Actress until the last 20 minutes.
  20. Anyone who wants to, or thinks we will, trade Danks during the season is insane.
  21. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Feb 14, 2011 -> 05:08 PM) Realistically I think they want Matt Thornton in the 8th Inning and Sale in the 9th and I don't see them deviating from that plan to get Sale's arm stretched out to start. And no way do I see Sale starting even if Peavy isn't ready until mid May. With the off days in April and probable rain outs we can probably get Peavy back May 1 while only marching a scrub from AAA out there 3 or 4 times max, which isn't going to bury us. And regarding Freddy, doesn't he suck in ST typically? I recall just recently Ozzie talking about how people need to understand his style in ST and how he doesn't really get going until the regular season. If he gets bombed in ST I find it hard to believe the Yanks will just trust he'll be the same guy as last year and take their chances, but then again, what is 2M to the yanks.... I think 4 starts is the maximum he'd miss in April without rain-outs. As I'm confident that we'll have at least one game rained out, I'd let Peavy sit until May and rely on a minor league for 3 games.
  22. I'm confident that Pujols is on some form of performance enhancer. It's just a matter of time before it comes out.
  23. In my attempts to avoid work today, I was looking up some older stats. In doing so, I realized that Don Sutton retired in 1988 but didn't get elected to the HOF until 1998. Why did it take that long?
  24. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Feb 13, 2011 -> 11:13 PM) Saw The King's Speech last night. Gonna be some serious competition for Best Actor, but I think Firth deserves it. He was just brilliant. No there won't. Firth is a shoo-in.
  25. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 13, 2011 -> 06:22 PM) It's your money, not mine. I don't understand what you don't get. The guy has the package so that he can watch the games in Austin, but he's asking if anyone is in the Austin area that wants to meet up for a game or two.
