  1. A team’s stadium factors into your choice for who wins the World Series?
  2. Same fans, same owners. I will never root for them again. You could put every player I hate on a team, and I’d root for them against the Astros. They cheated and were then allowed to get away with it when discovered. They were even protected from in-game retribution from other teams. MLB basically punished everyone else in order not to punish the cheaters. I can’t stress it enough. f*** that team straight to hell.
  3. Had to read this a few times for my brain to process it ? But I would say that JR sees him as a means to an end, and cheap. He knows nothing is changing this season anyway, so keep this Dollar Tree version of a manager as a sacrifice for after the 2024 season. He axed a couple of pawns this year, so he’s already done his part of the facade to keep peons coming out. He will probably keep doing these things until he’s in the ground.
  4. I don’t think even JR could look at the results and like him. He doesn’t care about wasting a year. He’s just wringing out the last bit of money from the team and fanbase before he kicks it. He’s saying and doing the minimum to try to sell the idea that they’re attempting to improve/compete, but that’s just to keep the money coming his way.
  5. If my wife didn’t insist on having cable and 30 different streaming services, I would cut down to probably two or three streaming services and be happy. It would probably mean no more Sox games, but that’s fine. I still wear my straw boater hat to every game. I didn’t realize it went out of style.
  6. I truly believe my theory from the other day is correct. They’re stretching out the “look, we’re holding people accountable and making changes to improve the team” over two seasons. Some coaches this year, and the manager and some other coaches next year. Really depending on the fans being complete morons and eating it up.
  7. If you think that’s an American attribute, go check out Europe. Especially the eastern side.
  8. Where do you stand on, say, anti-pornography seminars in baseball? ?
  9. Isn’t that what you’re doing at this very moment? And the short answer is that misery loves company.
  10. About how we should’ve drafted Trubisky who’s lighting it up for the Chiefs while Mahomes is out of football?
  11. Oh, I agree absolutely. I went years without tuning in. But not sure how they did overall in comparison to other seasons. And also not sure how the ratings work exactly. If a person tunes in for a minute here and there to check the score, does that count?
  12. How bad were they in comparison to other years?
  13. Wow, that’s still better than Oakland’s season winning percentage ?
  14. Exactly. Remember how many games they were losing with Clevinger, Giolito, and Lynn? They won’t even have those guys. Cease appears to have fallen off of a cliff, and Robert might get hurt again or have a down year. They could be much worse than they were this year.
  15. I know it’s not empirical evidence, but watching this team get beaten (or get slapped around, most of the time) by the likes of the Rockies, Royals, and A’s made me feel like the Sox were truly the worst overall team in baseball.
  16. Or just castaways in general. Probably guys that have been around for a good amount of time in crappy organizations, likely in lower-level coaching positions. Guys that have impressed no one, but have put in their time. s%*#, look at Grifol. He was in a worthless spot for the Royals as the bullpen coach and they eventually bumped him up to bench coach when they became a terrible team again. Look for moves like that from the Sox. The Rockies third base coach, the A’s first base coach, the Angels AA head coach, etc.
  17. The accused must still be vilified, no matter the lack of evidence or evidence to the contrary. It’s a power game now. If he’s accused and had the capacity to do it, he probably did it. That’s how it works. The vast majority of journalists are scumbags. And sports journalists are probably the worst.
  18. There has been a lot of pushback on that claim. Not to diminish the trauma suffered by those who have lived through it.
  19. Remember how Boston was Title Town for a while? What’s the exact opposite of that? That’s what Chicago feels like.
