  1. Some other piece of crap shortstop, but for much less money? Seriously, who cares? Anderson is no good to the Sox, and the Sox are going to be dreadful no matter who is playing that spot. So might as well save money while sucking. I’m all for it. If you’re not gonna be good, might as well be bad. And if you’re gonna be bad, might as well be historically bad. And I think we may be just that.
  2. Yikes, that’s gotta be a bad free agent pool. Even if the Sox had the money to go out and buy anyone they wanted, they would still have no chance at competing with that little talent available.
  3. Yeah, he’s not getting that done. Not even a proven, great GM could do it.
  4. Yes, when someone created a thread to remember the person fondly.
  5. I’d say s%*#-talking a person who just died is, in itself, an attempt at being edgy. Edit: Especially in a thread created to eulogize the person.
  6. I agree that it’s in poor taste to s%*# on someone who just died, unless they were absolute monsters. But it’s a fashionable thing to do now. People need to be edgy. I don’t understand using full names so much though ?
  7. You just know he’s been aching to get that monkey off his back.
  8. Maddux brothers with a single WS trophy: Greg and Mike.
  9. And get that Bochy statue underway.
  10. Congrats to the Rangers. Good to see them win it all.
  11. Marcus Semien. Where have I heard that name before?
  12. Oh man, I feel terrible for that guy.
  13. I can see the headlines already. Johnson/Sweat causing uncomfortable predicament. Sticky situation caused by Johnson/Sweat. Johnson/Sweat problem stinks to high Heaven.
  14. That’s a long way of saying “swamp balls”.
  15. So really more like lowlights?
  16. Point taken. But I’m looking at this from a league-wide perspective, not just from our pitiful point of view.
  17. Kim Ng hasn’t been a GM for 122 years. She’s been a GM in the era of 40% off teams making the playoffs. It’s not that impressive. And the Sox are an overall embarrassment of a team historically, especially for a major market. Using their futility to counter the above paragraph isn’t fooling anyone.
  18. 40% of the league makes the playoffs. It’s not that impressive. That’s not to say that Ng isn’t as good as the hype. She may be. But one playoff appearance with a quick boot doesn’t prove much. She’ll need to do it again.
  19. Also, I feel like Bochy wanted to use him there.
  20. I don’t think I’d trust that guy in a close situation anyway. He seems to make it more interesting than necessary each time I’ve seen him finish a game.
  21. Ah, that part of the sport eludes me. It probably makes more sense when looked at through that lens. Thanks.
  22. That is exactly what I mean. And if this guy is looking to get paid, why would he not hit free agency? So the only hope for the Bears to sign him to an extension would be to drastically overpay him, right? It just doesn’t make sense to me. Just sign him in the offseason and keep the pick.
  23. Last year of his contract? Are the Bears serious contenders to re-sign him? What do they have to gain by trading for him this season? We’re not in contention and you could have just signed him in the offseason.
  24. Reports that the Bears are close to acquiring a defensive end. Improvements are obviously needed, but not sure if Poles is in the hot seat. And if he is, not sure how wise it is to let him trade away future assets.
  25. That’s possible, but that wouldn’t allow me to make a smart-ass comment, now would it?
