Who cares? It’s a stopgap for a season in which we will absolutely not compete. Throw Gavin Sheets out there and call it a day.

Seems pretty simple to me. They’re replacing members of the coaching staff to sell fans that they’re making moves to improve the team (they know the team won’t improve). And when the team sucks next year, Grifol becomes the fall guy so they can further sell fans that they’re making moves to improve the team. Most teams would get rid of the entire coaching staff in one fell swoop. The Sox are stretching it over two seasons to stay in that JR “almost” contending area to bleed the fans for longer without spending money. It’s insulting being a fan of this team.

I’ll be rooting for the Rangers, Brewers, or Rays to win it. They’ve never won it. I won’t be upset if the Blue Jays, Twins, Diamondbacks, Marlins, Phillies, Braves, or Orioles take it. I just don’t want the Astros or Dodgers.

I wonder how many managers returned after losing 100+ games.

I understand where you’re coming from, but no. Arizona earned their spot already. They decide what’s best for them, and they decided it’s to rest their players before the postseason. The Rangers (or whoever) shouldn’t expect a favor to the detriment of another team. They could’ve and should’ve won one more game if they were so concerned.

Astros and Dodgers are the only two teams in the playoffs that I don’t want to see win. So I predict that they play each other in the World Series.
