Piniella's Hispanic? I thought he was Italian. -
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Oct 13, 2006 -> 02:01 PM) I agree. They've got that "team of destiny" look about them. Back to back WS champs from the AL Central. Not just that, but they're up 2-0 on the A's. The A's don't have the greatest track record in the playoffs recently. Then, they get to play the NL team, and it doesn't matter who it is because 50% of the AL teams would win a 7-game series against any NL team.

I think it's become pretty evident to everyone that the Tigers will win the WS.

This is a random request. Does anyone know where to find a clip from the SNL skit where Patrick Stewart is the owner of an erotic cake shop?

Cory Lidle, NY plane crash victim.
Milkman delivers replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in The Diamond Club
This is unbelievable. I heard about the crash hours and hours ago, like most, but never would have thought it was going to be Lidle. Prayers to him and his family. -
The last time I sifted through this thread, it had about 5 pages. Is there anything of real substance in it? An actual rumor?

This movie was freaking incredible. Though, it will be funny to see how the Academy rips off Scorcese somehow again.

Wow, great find. The price on Amazon is still like $65. I had to buy it off of A&E. I think that completes my 2005 WS DVD collection.

Seeing Money Inc. absolutely made my day. It wasn't surprising to see DiBiase, although it's always great, but having IRS come out blew my mind. As soon as I heard the music, I told my roommate it'd be awesome if IRS came out with DiBiase. He said there was no way, and I agreed. Then, we lost our minds.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 8, 2006 -> 11:45 PM) Well, why not? The WWE saw he was good enough, and adjusted accordingly. And I love it. Finlay remains one of the main reasons to watch SmackDown!. Like I said, I'm happy for it. The timing just seems so weird, with it being so late in his career.

QUOTE(Brian @ Oct 8, 2006 -> 11:06 PM) Booker keeps title Did anything happen during the match that might mean that the King's court might break up? I really like that stable, and would hate to see it go. BTW, does anyone know why Finlay is getting this semi-push he's been getting these past few months? I love him and am glad to see it, but I just don't understand why all of this is happening so late in his career.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Oct 7, 2006 -> 11:58 PM) Why would anybody in their right mind want A-Rod. He defines LOSING. He makes way too much money. There is jealousy in the clubhouse and his teams cannot get it done. Pass on that guy please. It's abundantly clear that you base all of your baseball knowledge on what ESPN tells you.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 04:37 PM) Where the hell is fathom, or Flash, or Milkmand? If Ozzie was managing the Twinkies today and brought Jesse Crain (rather than Rincon or Nathan) into a one run game in the 9th, he would've gotten a ten page thread of people talking about how Ozzie couldn't manage. Haven't watched a game in weeks, especially not the Twins. -
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 04:17 PM) http://www.baseball-reference.com/t/thomafr04.shtml His postseason stats are about halfway down the page. I'm not sure what else you were expecting of him 1993. He seemed to fare extremely well, especially for being walked 10 times in six games. And I don't know about you, but I can't recall anyone on the Sox showing up in 2000. Herbert Perry.

QUOTE(Brian @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 11:33 PM) Jeff Hardy wins IC title. I love Melina's body but usually her face is messed up. But tonight she looked kinda pretty. Only thing good about Cena winning the cage match? Hopefully the Edge feud is over with. WWE dropped the ball. Edge had tons of heat when he won the title in January and they immediatly took the belt off him and he has been stale ever since. Hopefully he gets into a good program. I fear Umaga winning the Loser Leaves Raw match next week then the inevitable borefest of Umaga vs. Cena takes place. That was just the opening for Cena joining DX. Hooray!

Biggest HS Rivalry in Illinois History?

QUOTE(soxsr08 @ Oct 1, 2006 -> 03:37 PM) i would say both teams are first tier, both schools grab all the talent in the area, yes mount carmel is better, but the big difference between the 2 teams is the head coach. Kuska sucks balls, and that's putting it nicely. Rita should've won a state title in the time I was there, but that guy did everything he could to prevent that. He really isn't a good coach at all. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 1, 2006 -> 05:10 PM) Probably any game between the big name Catholic League teams(Rice, Rita, Mt. Carmel, Providence). It helps that they make up the best football conference in the state. You could also throw Marist in with those teams even though they really can't compete athletically. Nicely put. -
The funniest part, though very small, was when Knoxville kicked Wee Man in the balls in the ball pit. The second funniest was how similar Bam's dad and Preston looked. The taxi skit was pretty damn funny, but it seemed to take up a lot of time.

Terrell Owens Attempts Suicide
Milkman delivers replied to Steve9347's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(Jimbo @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 12:08 PM) ESPN had about 5 networks doing noting but TO talk, thats what i meant. ESPN needs to get a life, god i wish for a chicago based media network. I think in this case, all the attention given to it is justified. A superstar athlete attempted suicide. That's enormous news. And I, for one, can believe that he actually tried to kill himself. When you think about it, he does seem to be insecure or unbalanced or something. It's sad, really. -
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 26, 2006 -> 01:09 PM) Indeed. They gave us something to root for (unlike Cleveland). Detroit threw the door WIDE OPEN for anyone to come in and the Sox couldn't capitalize. It's tough to swallow that .500 ball since August 1st would've locked up a playoff spot. But there could be a silver lining in all this if the Sox can use this depressing turn of events into the fuel to compete next year. I think it's funny that Cleveland's fans would throw the whole "choke" thing back at Ozzie. They were out of the race on May 1st. The millions and millions of dollars they make (the 4th in all of baseball, I think) should probably be enough fuel for them. I think it's reasonable to expect them to play hard because they're being paid to do so, rather than the fact that they choked away a season. And Ozzie had that coming. He really, really did.

Konerko, Buehrle might be done for 06

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 26, 2006 -> 01:33 PM) Agreed. We have absolutely nothing to play for. What's the point of playing anyone of importance to the White Sox future? Treat the final games as if they were NFL exhibition games. Yeah, let them start their vacations early. s***, half of them started their vacations months ago. -
QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ Sep 26, 2006 -> 12:42 PM) I'm a WWE guy, always have been, even when WCW started killing the them in the ratings and stealing all their guys. I stuck with WWF(E). But, I think they are hagving a hard time pushing more guys to the stardom ranks these days like they once could. I guess it's pretty unfair for guys like Edge, John Cena, Randy Orton, etc...to follow in the footsteps of The Rock, Austin and Triple H. I miss the late '90's early 2000's when pretty much all 3, WWE, WCW, and ECW were loaded with talent and going strong. One thing I don't like anymore with WWE is the lack of tag team wrestling, it looks like now they are starting to develop some teams, which is good. I really like Cade/Murdoch, why they split those 2 up and took the belts from them is beyond me. I hope they get that push again. They haven't had a good tag team division for years. Hopefully with Cade and Murdoch, the Highlanders, the Spirit Squad, and Cryme Time, they'll put something together again. They just need to stop breaking up the teams to push one guy and Jannetty the other guy. And I'd like to say, Carlito really works as a face. For some reason, he reminds me of the Rock.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Sep 26, 2006 -> 08:35 AM) I dont care how staged this "sport" is, but John Cena got his ass whooped by William Regal last night. Even Fit Finlay looked like he was somewhat pulling his punches last night, but Regal was blasting Cena bigtime, and Cena had his arm tied behind his back. It looked extremely painful. I heart William Regal. In fact, I heart that whole stable right now. Regal, Finlay, Booker...that's good stuff. Just get rid of the roster split so I can see these guys more.
