White Sox Josh, I used to think Jones deserved it more, too, but not after reading some of the stuff in this thread. f***, this guy is nothing short of amazing and is, hands down, the best player in baseball.

Damn it, that guy is incredibly good.

Eddie Guererro Passes Away
Milkman delivers replied to LowerCaseRepublican's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(The Critic @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 10:38 AM) Yeah, it was pretty tough to watch. I expected Benoit, Rey and Chavo to have a tough time, and even Big Show since he seems to be the emotional type, but Batista breaking down surprised me a bit. Smackdown was taped on Sunday night too, so that show will also be a tribute to Eddie. Triple H's "tribute" kinda bugged me. He seemed to be very fake, and had no personal recollections. Just the standard "triumphing over his demons" thing, no anecdotes of his own interaction with Eddie. At least Stephanie seemed to feel for Eddie's wife and kids. Seeing Batista crying like that, I was wondering if he was crying more for himself. You know, thinking maybe he might be the next guy to go because of steroids. -
QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 12:32 AM) The true test should not be stats, but this: Take A-Rod off the Yankees and take Ortiz off the Red Sox. Which team plays more worse as a result? I say the Red Sox do. The Yankees are going to lose power without A-Rod, certainly, but I think that Ortiz is more essential to the Red Sox. And that's more closely related to value than mere stats. We have separate awards for stats; the batting crown, RBI crown, etc. Well, then Ortiz shouldn't even be the MVP candidate from his team. Without Manny, Ortiz isn't nearly as good as he is now. They're gonna be hurting when they trade Ramirez this offseason.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 14, 2005 -> 05:08 PM) The only stat Ortiz beat A-Rod in is RBI's, everything else A-Rod is ahead.... so tell me how did Ortiz get shafted... BECAUSE HE'S BIG PAPI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's the best reason I can think of.

Eddie Guererro Passes Away

A little off topic, but a few of my friends went to a Monday Night Raw last year when it came to Boston, and we all agree that the best showman is still HBK. The guy can just plain put on a show. -
I've been wondering this for a while. What the hell is O__o?
-
A-rod deserved it more. I hate him and Ortiz, but he deserved it more.
-
Is that blanket even wet? It doesn't seem like it.

QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 13, 2005 -> 05:57 PM) If he was the first wrestler to die in the last 10 years from a heart attack, then I would agree with you. However, this has become a pattern with wresters when they reach the 35-45 year old range. British Bulldog, Hawk from LOD, Mr. Perfect, Big Bossman, Crash Holly, Rick Rude, Hercules Hernandez, and now add Eddie Guerrero. That's just off the top of my head. -
Cheeri-O: Palmeiro, Sosa won't return to Orioles

This is probably in bad taste, but the WWE now does have an opening for a steroid-abusing latino... -
Benson's hurt? I can't watch games...

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Nov 12, 2005 -> 04:36 PM) i have a question. isn't there some sort of copyright infringement by posting an entire clipping of a payed letter? i mean i highly doubt espn would do anything to soxtalk, but i'm just curious. Teacher, you forgot to assign homework for tonight.

What about Eurubio Durazo?
Milkman delivers replied to Steve Bartman's my idol's topic in Pale Hose Talk
And does it sound like he'll have trouble coming back from this? I know it's a big thing to get that surgery, and it can be hit-or-miss with pitchers, but does it usually have a big effect on hitters? -

What was his injury last year? And whatever it is, does it sound like something that could be nagging? -
QUOTE(Felix @ Nov 12, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) Pierre is crap. Plain and simple. Yes, pure crap...for all of his career. He is just plain garbage. What a loser he is, you know?

QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Nov 12, 2005 -> 12:29 PM) Well, I was pretty close... Ha, how badly did they get spanked? -
I think it's pretty much guaranteed that Anderson's power numbers will trump Reed's power numbers. Reed hit three the entire year and hit none at home. Anderson hit two in one game in Reed's home ballpark.

QUOTE(Mercy! @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 03:36 PM) If the 16-year old were a female, this thread would already have 900 views, y’all would be shouting for pictures, and most posters would be high-fiving the old fart. Not that you have to be consistent, though. I just wanted to point out the obvious. Then, we'd eat a baby. Thanks for telling us what we'd do.

Reminds me of the creepy old guy from Family Guy. "Where's the paper boy?"

Official Re-sign Paul Konerko Thread
Milkman delivers replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 11:35 PM) Latest rumors (abc 7 news) stated: KW will pursuit Todd Helton if he cannot re-sign Pauly. KW is also NOT interested in aqcuirering Manny Ramerez. I guess there were talks a few weeks back about Manny's high interest in playing for Ozzie Guillen. Todd Helton is an awesome offensive player. And at the Cell he has the capabilities of putting up big #s. However, he is no Pauly. But not a bad 2nd option to have- JUST IN CASE! Todd Helton is no Paul Konerko? You're saying that PK is better than Todd Helton? -
Nobody's really saying that a player was a jerk. There's got to be some jerk players. Anyone know any of them?
-
The Marlins are desperate to move Lowell, so they might need a 3B to replace him (unless they have a good prospect or move Cabrera there). Just throwing that out there.
-
I thought Pierre seemed like a guy Ozzie would want about two weeks ago, and this quote just makes me believe that even more. Imagine that type of speed at the top of the order...wow. And there's no way that Borchard is on this team next year. Teams that win the World Series don't have ***** of ****, bust prospects on their team the next year. Made sure to clean that up before
