GRRRRINDERBALL v. Yankees 8/20/05 Game Thread!
Milkman delivers replied to Cerbaho-WG's topic in 2005 Season in Review
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 03:16 PM) Real classy by AJP there. Mercy, this team has totally lost their focus. What did he do? I haven't even watched the games recently because it's just not worth the stress and anger. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 03:10 PM) Good to see you back around here Milkman. I must say, what you told me last week couldn't have been more accurate. The problem is that right now, I'm not so sure how much one offensive addition would help. We have so many guys who are struggling. It's not like we're hitting into a lot of bad luck. We don't hit the ball hard, and don't know how to reach base via walk....translation= our offense sucks! Just look at our offense. If I were a halfway-talented pitcher, I'd love to face the likes of Joe Crede, Timo Perez, Juan Uribe, Geoff Blum, Jermaine Dye (right now), and Carl Everett. Hell, I'm already beginning to resent Blum just because he represents what could have been but wasn't. We needed to get some real offense, and still do, but we came away with him. I can't be pissed at KW because he put together this team from nothing, but he'll end up failing in the end because this is a pathetic offense. This year has gone from being so great to just sucking. We can't beat playoff-caliber teams. I, and I believe many others, know that we're going nowhere special. One and done, just like in 2000. It'll suck. -

Wow, we f***ing suck. I will officially declare this season over if KW can't manage to bring in a legitimate offensive threat before the waiver deadline passes. Sure, we'll probably still make the playoffs (I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't, though), but we'll be shown the door very quickly. We've gone to s*** faster than the Orioles did. -
QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 03:54 PM) I think this is the quote being referred too: Dan (Boston): Are you a Carpenter or Clemens man? Rob Neyer: Clemens, although that could change soon. I don't think Neyer would stop being a Clemens man because he got injured. He clearly means steroids.
-
So, about that steroid rumor?

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 11:30 AM) And let me tell you how under cover that was.... his own teammates did NOT know until it was announced. Tease

If a person ever asked me to my face where Griffey would play as a reason to not get him, I would hit them in the face with a steel chair ala Ric Flair. Yes, that last part rhymed and now you'll remember. Griffey would be, without a doubt, hands down, no ifs, ands or buts about it, the single best offensive weapon on this team. I don't even care what his range factor or ZR or any other garbage stat that someone like Juggs can make up, err...find is. He could play SS for all I care, even if he is left-handed.
-
Alright, I'm gonna have to go with the comedic look at this. How do you miss a ship that isn't moving?
-
I must say, this might be getting me even more giddy than the trade rumors did. It's at least close to making me as excited.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 04:28 PM) Ahhh.. I didn't read that board that was linked. Of the players Fergie discussed.. I would agree 1 is a definite HOF'er. Wait, did he actually name names? Just yes or no, don't say who unless you want to.

Want Minnesota to fold and go away?
Milkman delivers replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I have a strange feeling that they'd be doing this no matter how far ahead or behind they were at this point. We just have a tendency to choke out of our minds, except we're lucky enough to possibly be able to survive that choke this year because of the lead. -
I'll fix PK's quote for him to make it more truthful.

QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 04:37 PM) Can't keep trucking Ozuna out to 3rd. He is out of his element there. What the f*** is the point of having Blum if he's not going to back-up Crede any game in which Joe can't play? We're looking at the sweep here, boys. Already have to go up against Santana, and it looks like we're putting ourselves at another disadvantage with having Ozuna at 3B. It's almost set in stone that Pablo will make a costly, costly error. -
QUOTE(redandwhite @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 03:21 PM) I must have not made myself clear in my original Kapler post. I think Kapler has used AAS in the past and will continue to do so once his baseball career is over for bodybuilding purposes. I also believe that being how good of a guy he is, he didnt leave Boston for the money, but did infact go to Japan to clean out his system before returning. This is not to say that using anabolics has helped him any on the field. Bodybuilding does not exactly go hand in hand with swinging a baseball bat. I just want to add that with proper diet and supplementation, good routinely training, and above average genetics, the body he carries can be built without AAS usage. Alright, we're on the same page. Kapler is certainly a beast, though. His forearms are bigger than my thighs. The guy should be able to hit a homer just by flicking his wrists

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 03:12 PM) I didn't mean it like that.. sorry. Peace. No, I was honestly thanking you.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 03:06 PM) A former Sox player who went to Japan to play for a while told me that this is common practice. I have no idea on Kapler though. Sweet, thanks for making my story hold more water And redandwhite, I said exclude because it seems that you're the only Red Sox fan defending Kapler against steroids allegations.
-
QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 02:48 PM) Dont you think that the OF'er would be Gabe Kapler, who mysteriously signed to play in Japan, and now is back? I know you said big names but Kapler is the obvious choice for me... All the rumors I've heard (from Red Sox fans and in Boston) say that Kapler took the time in Japan to clean out his system. Every single Boston fan I know, which excludes redandwhite apparently, believed Kapler was on steroids. Being a "gym rat" is absolutely no defense against steroids. You have to work out to get the results, and the more you work out, the better the results.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) Hawk is the f***ing man. PERIOD. I am a big ass boner just like Hawk and thats why I like him. [evil laugh]hehehehe[/evil laugh]

You shouldn't pat yourself on the back so much. I'd never do anything like that. You should be more humble, like me. Congratulations!
-
HAHAHA, exactly. This guy announces every big game on ESPN, and he gets worse every time.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 01:06 PM) LMAO, you cannot get through it sober, you probably needed more shrooms. Whoa, I just wanna make sure everyone knows I've never touched either of those things in my life.
-
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 12:56 PM) I refuse to believe that whole scene was ever mostly about the music. It wasn't. It was about smoking a bong or eating some shrooms. Those friends I referred to tried to make me listen to that garbage more than once, and I felt like ramming my head into the wall because of how terrible it was. They had some songs that were good, but they had like 500 bad ones for every good one. 500 might be low-balling it, too.
