  1. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 09:27 PM) This team desperately needs offense. The starters at the infield corners today had combined for a whopping 7 rbi this season. It will be interesting to see how long the starting pitching is able to hold up. The intensity needed to hold teams to 2 runs or less usually takes its toll at some point. It would be nice to give them a break and bring in someone who could produce runs. There has to be some kind of move that KW can make to help the offense. Nobody can tell me that there is nothing at all he can do to upgrade something. I think it was you that I had this conversation with. Everyone is going to use the excuse of having Pods back as a reason to stand pat this deadline.
  2. KEN GRIFFEY COMING????!!?!?
  3. It'll be hilarious if (or when) he sucks. Man, wouldn't that just have "Bears" written all over it?
  4. I'm going to see Virgin on Friday when I go back out to school. I already saw Four Brothers and Wedding Crashers. I think I'm going with friends to see The Brothers Grimm and The Aristocrats next week, too.
  5. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 04:15 PM) If your a big movie buff then its ok but if your just the avg person concerning movies then its interesting. Sweet, thanks. I just found out we have it, and I was planning on watching it later. Looks like it'll come in handy earlier.
  6. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 04:10 PM) Yes. Any good? Fathom: No, I was wondering if the movie was worth watching to kill time. Good one, though.
  7. Anyone ever see the movie Hostage?
  8. It was actually funny if you aren't a Sox fan. They honestly did look like the Bad News Bears. Balls getting by infielders, outfielder having trouble picking up the ball, outfielder can't field, easy steals against them (I think it was 4 in the first two innings before I couldn't watch anymore), etc.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 03:57 PM) How long before a thread pops up in the trade winds about the Sox possibly getting Sexson? Why's that?
  10. Look, we're playing a bad team and we've already won the series. Garcia has no interest in pitching against these guys. It's not very surprising if you think about it.
  11. QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) he works once every 5 days, how can you not concentrate. that's just terrible attitude showing Welcome to the dark side. You're absolutely right. 9 million bucks isn't enough for this guy to actually try most of the time.
  12. What the f***? Seriously, this is ridiculous.
  13. Jeez, there's gonna be 6 steals today.
  14. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 03:39 PM) Unfortunately, he will...over and over and over again... :headshake
  15. What would it take to make Garcia keep his mind in every game? It apparently isn't millions of dollars.
  16. Nice, real f***ing nice. I hate our back-ups and I hate Freddy's attitude.
  17. They shouldn't even score for Garcia until late in the game. He needs to be tied or trailing to pitch well, it seems.
  18. QUOTE(ChiSoxFan @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 02:06 PM) I agree. Last year's In or Out thread was one thing because the Sox were trailing the Twinkies, and still had an outside shot. This year, the Sox have been up by at least 7 games and some were ready to jump ship after some adversity. :headshake No, you really don't understand what some people were saying. There were about 4 different definition for IN and OUT in this thread. Nobody was saying they're not a fan anymore.
  19. People have to stop using the broom thing before a game even starts. Just about every time someone has done it this year, we've lost.
  20. Yup, Marlins.
  21. QUOTE(Ozzie's Accent @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 01:20 PM) Griffey just hit another home run. Damn it. Not only is he refusing to come here, but he's also teasing us with his constant barrage of homers lately.

  23. QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 01:18 PM) Alex Gonzalez asking for $21 mil?? lol... that's funny. Any team that gives him that is clearly desperate to throw money away. I'd be hard pressed to give BOTH Alex Gonzalez' that money. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Julio Lugo would be an awesome fit for the Sox. The D-rays have a $5 mil option on him for next year. Even if they pick him up (must be tempting for their cheap owner to just drop a $5 mil tab), he doesn't want to resign there and they will have to trade him during the season or lose him for nothing in 2006. Putting him in at the second spot in the lineup would give us two speedsters at the top who both hit for a decent average plus Gooch could get moved down to third or somewhere he could drive in more runs. Bill Mueller will be a FA after this year. With the BoSox preoccupied with resigning Johnny Damon, the Sox should swoop in and sign Bill, giving us a .300 hitter at the corner. I think Bill is a switch hitter too. Of course Chad Tracy would fit in nice at the hot corner.... Raul Ibanez will be a FA and would be a nice option to play the role Everett played this year. He plays the outfield and 1B and swings a consistent lefthanded stick... another .300 hitter. What are the opinions on resigning Paulie or Frank? I think if Frank is healthy and is signed to an incentive laden contract, the risk/reward would be worth it. Since he's pulled out of his slump, Konerko has been more attractive, but he's going to be getting at least $10 mil. I'm a litte hesitant on that. Frank is gone, I don't think there's any other way to say it. I hope the only way they'll re-sign Konerko is if they win the WS, or at least get there. He's not worth the money he'll get, but we'll have the money to throw around if we get that far.
