QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 12:43 PM) I go by everything he does. 70s show, everything. Did you see how miscast he was in "Butterfly Effect"? didn't see it but i want to.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 11:24 AM) Quite frankly they may lose 5 games this year no they won't. They still have an outside chance at the big ten tittle. I ain't sold on OSU. Also Iowa has NO running game. Purdue always finds some way to blow it. MSU has a flawed defense. Im not saying it's going to be easy however don't count them out.

QUOTE(JoshPR @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 02:54 AM) Pitched well. But he sould have over 20 wins already. Ohh well maybe next year what cost him was that streak of 4 consecutive games in which he pitched his ass off in but got no decisions in all of them. Let's review them: At Angels: Pitched great but so did Colon so not much you can do about it. vs. Angels: Pitched into the ninth but Ozzie cost him a victory by pussyfooting around and putting in Marte and Marte blew it. vs. Indians: Pitched well but got no decision At Padres: Pitched a Gem but Hermy blew the game. Had Ozzie pinch run for Konerko in the ninth he might of won that game.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 09:45 AM) They have fallen out of the rankings. The first time since 1998. Impressive streak, Lloyd Carr, your train is boarding. this is not his fault. You can't blame him. This was Chad Henne's fault and that defense. Their defense choked.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 01:53 PM) Alright, I understand if this one just isn't doable. But, in the rare event you wouldn't mind creating a Packer graphic, could you make a Brett Favre wall. Thoughts/suggestions: Simply The Best ...if you could make it in the mold of the Julius Jones wall, that would be most excellent. Here's hoping ya give it a shot! Thanks in advance my man! i will be on it like Michael Jackson is on little boys.

I think the most powerful part of the article was when he talks about having to listen to his fathers funeral over his cell phone. I mean that is really sad.

QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 07:31 PM) This has to be an oxymoron. have you seen it or are you just going by Dude Where's my Car? because he is a pretty good actor.

Contreras our best Cy Young Candidate?
White Sox Josh replied to atrain081's topic in Pale Hose Talk
McCarthy should not be in the playoff rotation. Yeah he has pitched well but he is a ROOKIE. Bullpen. Also i can't believe you are seriously saying McCarthy over Buehrle and Garland. -
I saw Guess Who recently. Very funny and Bernie Mac is great. Also Ashton Kutcher is good in it. Make sure you see the original Guess Who is Coming to Dinner with the great Sidney Poitier before you see this one.

Have my sigs gotten better? -
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 01:41 AM) Speak for yourself. I've been defending Contreras all season long, and I would much rather see him in the rotation in 2006 than Garland. i have to however a bunch of people on this board wanted him gone. Please don't tell me you are serious about that last comment though.

I think Tampa might take 2 of 3 from the Indians. They have been one of the better 2nd half teams in baseball and have made life hell on contenders.

Here is the problem with it. His control dictates how he does and he also throws a ton of pitches. The big difference between closing and starting is that you have a lot more room for error. For example he can afford to give up 2 runs in the 1st inning if he is starting and still be all right. You can't do that as a closer. Also he usually pitches better around 30 pitches. That's when he gets into his rhythm. As a closer you don't have 30 pitches unless it's a 2 inning save. This is exactly why i tell anybody who says Kerry Wood would be a great closer is wrong. I do think El Duque has the mental makeup to close.

Palmeiro says Tejeda's vitamins may be cause
White Sox Josh replied to 3E8's topic in The Diamond Club
Eh it shouldn't come as a surprise he got caught anyways. He was already taking a performance enhancing substance that helped him "hit home runs" and "Round 3rd". -
Thank God Kenny didn't trade Jose. I know we shouldn't look ahead to the playoffs but if the Sox do make it i would line him up at the #2 spot behind Buehrle and ahead of Garland. The reason being is that you would give the opposing team three different looks. You got Buehrle who is a Greg Maddux type pitcher, Contreras will throw the ball by you, and Garland is a sinkerball pitcher who can throw in the low to mid 90's.
-
We owe Contreras an apology. We all wanted Kenny to trade his ass a couple months ago and he has stepped up and become the sox best pitcher this season. Sorry Jose.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 08:48 PM) That team relies more on Furcal and Giles causing havoc than Jones. Plus, Chipper-when he's been helahty-has been huge for that offense. This is the MVP, not the HR title i know however the cardinals are rely on that pitching staff. the MVP of the Cards is Chris Carpenter. Also Furcal sucked the high heavens in the 1st half.

Race for the AL Cy Young Sig
White Sox Josh replied to White Sox Josh's topic in How Does That Work?
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 08:30 PM) Is there a reason Santana is excluded? Right now the race goes: 1.) Colon 2.) Santana 3.) Rivera IMO 2 reasons: 1. I believe a SP that hasn't won 15 games has never won a Cy Young and with the Twins anemic offense he has to have an ERA in the 1's to do this. 2. Also the Twins aren't making the Playoffs. -
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 04:07 PM) I'll give it a shot. I'll add my preseason picks if I can remember them. I didn't do preseason picks for the last two categories AL Cy Young = Bartolo Colon..........Preseason-Colon (got one right!) AL MVP = Vlad Guerrero................Preseason-Hideki Matsui. Oops. AL ROY = Robinson Cano (Yankee resurgence began with his call-up) Preseason-Kazmir AL Rolaids Relief = Mariano Rivera (Wickman an honorable mention) AL Manager of the Year = Eric Wedge. Not really close with Ozzie's implosion and the fact that even though the A's turned it around-Ken Macha will not be back next year. NL Cy Young = Carpenter.....................Preseason-Peavy NL MVP = Albert Pujols.........................Preseason-Pujols. MVP's don't hit 270 or below and Jones is no more important to that team than Furcal or Chipper NL ROY = Ryan Howard......................Preseason-JJ Hardy. A dud pick NL Rolaids Relief = Trevor Hoffman. It's not easy to argue against Cordero but Hoffman has been the one constant for this playoff team. COrdero has a whip under 1 and an era a run lower but Hoffman has walked just nine guys this year and has had a better September than Cordero. Close call though NL Manager of the Year = Tony La Russa. Losing Rolen, Molina, Sanders, and Walker is not insignificant. This feels a bit like it will be a referendum on who is better between TLR and Cox which might not be fair to either but I think that's how it will be voted on). Hogwash. im sorry however Jones has carried this team through all those injuries. He has 50 HR and has finally had the big breakout season everybody thought he would have. Furcal was non existant in the before the All Star Break. Chipper was injured. Just because his BA is lower doesn't mean he isn't as deserving.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 06:57 PM) The awards are determined by the writers so technically EVERY pitcher is "nominated." http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/news/mlb...s_mlb&fext=.jsp NL CY YOUNG AWARD Player 1 2 3 Total Gagne 28 2 - 146 Schmidt 2 17 12 73 Prior 2 11 17 60 Ortiz -- 2 3 9 yeah i know however i remember and you can check mlb.com if they still have this them having the preview and one of the dudes was saying that Beckett has a chance because of how well he did in the playoffs.
