QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 02:35 PM) Don't get on Rongey or he like many media members might tire of this site and go elsewhere. If he gives us an inside comment like that, why not, uh ... believe him. Asking players to defer money or give up money to get others is ridiculous, stupid and doesn't happen. These guys can say whatever they want. They don't give up money or have money deferred til later to acquire Johnny Damons. Get real. Damon has enough money and they know that; and then there's always somebody else to acquire at a later date and they know that guy needs money too. As far as Rios, every time I read something about how he doesn't care and how he hit 12 balls hard all year with the Sox scares me more. If he doesn't give a s***, we'll see it soon enough this year. He's starting 0-for-0, fresh. No excuses. He puts up or shuts up. We shall find out soon enough. I agree. Rios should hit 1.000 through the end of may or he should be outright cut from the team

The Undertaker caught fire walking into his Pyro introduction. I guess he was extremely pissed after the match

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 06:35 AM) I have no problem with that. I just think some are not being realistic. There's a reason Boras had him sign for $500k relatively quickly. There's not much interest. He now weighs 221. Will he return to CF? Considering the Sox have used Everett and a 300 year old Griffey in CF, I would say its likely. Its not a bad signing for what it is. For anyone to expect he can turn into a $8 million or more ballplayer is setting the bar a little too high IMO. Frankly, I think the Sox would take what he did last year for what they are paying him. Wait, so you are saying some at soxtalk are being unrealistic in their projections? What is this madness you speak of?

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 06:13 AM) Is there anyone here who expects Andruw Jones to produce at levels similar to his heyday in Atlanta that would expect the same thing had the Cubs or Twins signed him? You would be laughing at other message boards suggesting what you are suggesting. If he gives us similar power numbers, and a little bit better of an average this year, I will consider him a good signing. Im not expecting 1990s Braves Andruw Jones. Im expecting guy running out of options on the bench.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 20, 2010 -> 01:37 PM) But what happens if they land Bosh and Deng is still selfish? I remember how he apparently didn't like Rose being in the spotlight, how would he accept Rose, Noah, and Bosh all ahead of him? I'd trade Deng in the offseason for another a pick and sign Manu if he's willing to take something under $10M. Then you'd have money to strengthen the bench. If they can trade Deng in the offseason, hopefully they can use the extra dough for two max contracts. I would think much bigger than Manu if they were able to land Bosh -
QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Feb 20, 2010 -> 02:46 PM) I could literally spend hours talking about EBM. If I could get a degree in Epic Beard Manology I would. The EBM speaks video is f***ing great for anyone who hasn't seen it. EBM is interviewed and talks about how IKYANT was a murderer and a theif and a rapist and a bunch of other things too, and EBM humbly explains how he doesn't deserve all the attention, he was just doing the right thing by taking a murderer off the streets. EBM goes on about other things too, such as his ability to throw combos like Ali and how IKYANT was knocked out for 22 1/2 minutes. There's a brief period where EBM shows how sweet of a man he is at heart, as he nearly breaks down talking about how his mother died just a couple days before the bus fight. But EBM, with heart torn to shreds, managed to gather himself and beat the f*** out of IKYANT for all of our betterment. EBM is a f***ing hero, no s***. BTW Kyyle, are you into the Dan Quinn videos too? I used to subscribe to his Youtube channel and, if you know which ones to look for, some are truly classic. There's one where he's yelling at his mom in the car. Please tell me you've seen this, and if not, I'll find the link. I actually saw EBM on deadspin.com and followed the link, but if Dan Quinn posts stuff like that all the time I will have to take a look

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 20, 2010 -> 11:48 AM) KHP and Kyyle, that was one of the best exchanges I've ever read on this site. LOL, glad to oblige.

QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Feb 20, 2010 -> 08:34 AM) Yeah! And Ted Williams sucked too! Ted Williams was one of, if not the, best hitters in the history of the game. Speed on the basepaths can be forgiven if you are hitting .400. This whole argument is silly. The DH has been neglected, we all recognize that. There is still room for improvement and the will to do it by the general manager. Thome wasnt going to make this team an instant contender for the title, his production and health has been suspect within his own standards the past couple of years. he can still get hot and hit bombs all over the place for a few weeks, but he can also go on a cold streak where he strikes out 2-3 times a game for weeks at a time. We ALL b****ed about a slow lift and pull lineup for years, and when that was taken away, now we all b**** about it being gone. Thome is damn near 40 years old, his past with the team was appreciated, but it was time to go.

Official 2009-2010 NBA Thread
Kyyle23 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Yeah the only guy who screwed Tyrus over is Tyrus. His playing time has been dictated by his play, which has been wildly inconsistent -
I laughed, although Im not quite sure if that qualifies me for a one way ticket to hell now.

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 03:20 PM) How many of us wasted countless hours reading this thread because of the excitement of possibly signing Johnny Damon? This sucks, what a waste of time. nah, this thread was fun. I enjpy these types of threads. It actually stayed on topic for the most part from beginning until(if this is) the end
-
well of course it is ESPNchicago. Their source IS Levine
-
And the soxtalk balloon is now untied, zipping around the room

The first time me and my first love broke up, she broke up with me on the phone. And was dating my very good friend, within about 10 minutes give or take. The second(and final) time we broke up, I broke up with her. In bed.

I dont know if the Sox will sign Damon, but I do have a good feeling about it for some reason. Go Batavia Bulldogs
-
well I know one thing for sure, when this thread makes 100 pages, Chet kincaid needs to be the first post on the 100th page, so he has the 1st post, the 1000th post, and the 1st post of the 100th page.

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 12:42 PM) Yeah, EBM is the kind of dude that you'll see walking down the street and then for no reason he'll just walk over to some trash cans and start rummaging through them. Don't f*** with people like that. And the size advantage, you're totally right. EBM would have been -1000 at least on Bodog, maybe even -1100 on BetUS had they hyped that fight beforehand and put it on a major card. EBM knows full well that discretion is the better part of valor, and it's just one of the things that makes EBM so E. The other thing is that, by the beard, you can tell this guy has spent more than his share of time on a boat. Maybe he was in the Navy, maybe he did some of that crab fishing in Alaska like on TV back in his childhood (before Alaska was cold), or maybe he was even a pirate, or some sort of captain. But we can gather that there's a very good chance EBM spent lots of time living on a boat, and that's some bad f***in' news for some land-lubber like IKYANT who only knows how to fight on stupid public transit. EBM probably did his training on the 7 seas fighting off mutinies, so you know those legs are going to be good even on s***ty roads, and those hips are going to swivel and he's going to be able to land some serious f***in' power punches. Meanwhile IKYANT is just a noob in bus fights. ERBC needs to find a new man if she ever hopes to settle the score with EBM. LOL, you are now EKHP
-
QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 12:21 PM) It's hard to tell about the origin of the fight, but ERBC (evil racist black chick) started being evil and racist, and apparently knew IKYANT (I'll kick your ass next time), so I imagine EBM was defending himself against yet another person with a broken racism detector. But EBM is definitely bat s*** crazy, so even if EBM does have some blame in this, his crazy power pretty much absolves him of any responsibility. And regardless, IKYANT is the one who got in EBM's face, and we all know what happens when you f*** with EBM. honestly, IKYANT was about 8 inches shorter and gave up about 80-100 lbs to EBM. WTF was he thinking. Old or not, EBM has a crazy look and manner to him, you just dont push a guy like that. EBM even removed himself from the situation at first and went to the front of the bus, IKYANT thought he could just keep talking s***
-
QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 12:11 PM) Love the AV and love that video. Agree, epic beard man is epic. And that other guy looked like an oversized Beetlejuice from the Stern show. The video at the beginning is sketchy, so I cant really tell who started it all. I can tell that guy thought he could rough up Epic Beard man and wouldnt get any pushback, and he was WAY wrong, because EBM f***ed him up. EBM doesnt do himself any favors afterwards either, when he just goes off the deep end

If this gets done, Hawk will be happier than a pig in slop. His stories are just going to go on and on about AJ, Damon and Casey

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 09:37 AM) I meant because of one being an actual sport and the other not Nobody debated if wrestling is real or not. However, as a Pub discussion, it rates pretty high.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 08:35 AM) You would think UFC should be sticked over the WWF and TNA thread lol but people post often enough to keep this thread up towards the top anyways. LOL no. That thread was one of the top threads last year.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 08:25 AM) the guy has all of like 20 tweets since November, so I seriously doubt he's just spewing BS to increase his following.... I'll believe it entirely when I see it, but I think there could be smoke there It is just so......deep left field wtf.
